K-LEE, I will make sure to use the word "revered" in my

Wow, Dominik, use big words like "rapprochement" in your letter and you just may convince them! I had to go look that one up, thanks, I can always use a bigger vocabulary.

Revere
On 7/31/2002 Dominik wrote in from (4.46.nnn.nnn)

I intend to write to their Assistant Principal and negotiate
-- diplomatically! -- a rapprochement between the school and
the skaters. I will post that letter soon, and everybody
who feels that this is a worthy cause can copy and paste it
into word, sign it, then mail it to me (I will post my mailing address).
Once I have a decently-sized bunch of letters, I will make
an appointment with Mister Asst. Dude-in-Charge, and hand
him the stack. We should probably offer some kind of self-
regulation, like a pledge not to destroy school property.
It's the banks which make Revere special; for those who like
to grind tables and benches to death, there are many other
places out there.
Let me know what you think!

Missouri Matt; between Lake City and Creede is
Spring Creek Pass which is mellow-er (not as many steep switchbacks)than Slumgullion Pass and I believe easier to see traffic coming. Best to go early in the a.m and in the evening ; since these are the only roads between these towns
(paved ones) they do get some traffic this time of year mid-day.

this hill if ridden from its peak at moulton medows park goes from 827 feet to sea level in a steep 8 part run. most of the run varys from 10%-20% grade with the final section a half mile monster 30% grade. the street empties out into a busy itersection at PCH.there is also a majore problem with traffic most of us can only do the first seven sections and we dont know of anyone who has compleated the whole hill. if anyone has compleated please tell me how you did this last section and howed it turned out. i strongly recomend this hill be tried and also any other of the hills in laguna. Park ave and Skyline drive are also amazing hills to do. if you come to laguna i can tell you you'll have the time of your life!!!

Glenoaks Elementary School, Glendale, CA
On 7/26/2002 Pete wrote in from (207.108.nnn.nnn)

I have since moved to the land of great skate hills, thigh deep powder, and killer rock climbing (Utah), but I used to live in So Cal. My elementary school, Glenoaks, in Glendale, had sweet burmed out hills, paved terraces, and good pavement all over. I haven't been back to skate it but you SoCal'ers should check it out if you're in the neighborhood.

Also at the top of that same canyon there is a rad canyon road with little traffic that leads up Scholl Canyon baseball diamonds that I imagine would be sick for bombing. Any of you guys skated either of these locations? How is it?

And if you're ever in Utah, I'll show you the goods-there's lots of em. The light rail up to the Olympic stadium at the U of U is a "gondola" for very nice runs into downtown. There are canyon roads that are closed to cars. The public bus system in Park City will drop you off on top of a 4 mile run right back to the bus stop. There are many more!

I'm in need of some bank riding and I was wondering just if anyone has skated Revere in the past couple of weeks. I'm hoping that the security guards have lightened up a bit. Any new news?

Hey MisouriMatt, you're psyched! The road that goes to Lake City....the ONLY road that goes there was newly paved like 2 years ago and is surely GREAT for skating. I think it's Hwy 149 and especially toward the Blue Mesa side, you'll find miles and miles of steep>mellow silky asphalt with VERY few cars. ...Well, actually in the summertime, you'll have to dodge a few campers from Ok and Tx, but hit that road in November and have it ALL to yourself.

Toronto
On 7/22/2002 R. wrote in from (156.40.nnn.nnn)

was someone asking about Toronto spots a long while ago? Oh well... anyways, for hills, check out the burbs, i.e: Don Mills. Toronto itself, while extremely flat, is sort of a little urban concrete jungle, so there are lots of fun little curbs, mini-banks and berms and whatnot. Just gots to look. Even a big spiral parking lot off of the Eaton Centre downtown. I'd think they would be savvy to skaters trying to bomb it, but you never know.

Does anyone know of any riding spots in phoenix, az? Me and a friend ride at this straight shot about 1/4 of a mile over at 56th st and camelback, but it is too short. I have found other short hills but nothing at least a mile long. I have heard of some out in anthem, but I dont know where they are.

I wasn't personally attacked, but a 250# plus female Park Ranger jumpedin front of me at about 20 MPH ,I barely saw her in time to make her a "cone" whew too close!! By the time I had come to a stop, I looked back up the hill to see her kicking my cones as far as she could!!!!!!!!! Little did she know, I'm a good friend of the superintendant and all of her superiors!! While i was skating illegally, she reacted in a fashion "unbecoming" and officer!! I think she applied for a cafeteria position at K-Mart!!! lol

The security guards *tackled* him??? I don't think they're allowed to do that unless he's presented a physical threat first. That's f*cked up.
I bomb garages occasionally. Always late at night and always on the sly. Sometimes you can run into one who will ignore you if you're not thrashing on everything, keep to yourself, and don't make your presence obvious. Good luck finding new spots...

Me and my friend just tried to longboard down a parking garage, figuring that it would be a pretty cool ride. Well the security guards tackled him and cracked his head on the way down. So I guess that not a good riding location. Anyone else ever have anything like this happen?

On 7/16/2002 Wesley Tucker wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

Dave,

Did you skate it non-stop from top to bottom? What board did you ride? The only time I've ever taken the whole half-mile at speed was on my wood Ick. I think I was riding my ex-tracks and Hurricanes. That was 10 years ago. I haven't downhilled since.

I usually set up a course on the hill by going to the bottom and setting the course "backwards" back up the hill. That way I know I'll get to the bottom and the run out at the same time.
