Claremont canyon is located in the oakland/berkeley hills...
it was just paved and the surface is prime for downhill exploitation...
gravity thrills?

Ok, I know "Fairy Hill" sounds like somewhere that puffs ( homosexuals ) go. The hill is suicidally steep , last time I went down it I scraped my ass down half of it because I completely crapped myself goin' down. Try it.

Hey all you Bay-Area Longboarders. If you don't know, we are trying to get a longboard compitition together for the x-games. Anyway.... the first thing we need to do is find some good spots. ANYONE have ANY ideas? E-mail me with em! All places will be considered. We are looking for hills and a banked area or two. Ok, I'll be waiting! Thanks!

Austin, Texas Hill Country

So far I have yet to see any posts from Texas, so I guess I'll be the agitator. The Hill Country to the west of Austin (and really Austin itself) is loaded with good downhill rides. If anyone's is heading here or anyone lives in or near Austin, check out the downtown streets late at night, or head west and ride some of the many, many roads outside town.

If anyone comes through here give me a call or E-Mail. I am one of only about 4 or 5 long boarders in this whole area, even though we have the biggest baddest hills around. Situated next to the Cascade Mountain range Bend sits right on a Butte which can get you going up to 40 mph. (Don't bail off here, it hurts, although it is next to the hospital). With winding backroads that can keep you going for up to 2 miles, and fairly good roads this area can keep you busy for weeks on end. You can also go snowboarding here.

A friend of mine and I rode a really nice hill in Los Gatos yesterday. It's just above downtown - it's called Pennsylvania Ave. It's about a mile long?? Not super steep - just good cruzin' slope. Give it a try on your way to the beach.
Anybody know of hills on the peninsula? Palo Alto area?

Irvine!

Hey! Irvine has lots of places (how about ridgeline?). No, really I remember a killer run that we used to do back in the day... It starts up at the top of Turtle Rock in those houses (at the very top of Ridgeline Rd) I want to say the houses are called Hillcrest. You can ride Hillcrest down to Starquest (hey, it is Irvine, what kind of names do you expect?) Right where Starquest hits Turtle Rock Drive (we used to ride a little drainage ditch called "Matchbox" right there)is a cement pathway that goes behind the houses. Take that all the way to the bottom.(it ends by University High) It used to be really fun, but I have not been back in a long time... I do remeber all the people hated us doing that run, because of the "clickty clack" of the wheels on the cracks. That might be the downfall, it that the path is messed up. (tree roots cracking the sidewalk and stuff) If you do this run, post how it is. I am curious. later late.
I also remember when the paths at UCI were brand new (read 1978). If they ever repave those, that would be a killer ride.

I know it is very hi profile with the hills and all, but if you get out of the city, and get the the top of the hills, San Bruno, Burlingame, Woodside, ect....You will have some of the best rides of your life. I am just starting out with a Think longboard (it was a gift) but these things are intense. I get watery eyes from the Penninsula hills. drop a line if you need a guide for the day, and I will scare the sh_t out of you.

downtown there is the freakin radest parking garage, but there is one problem, it's the IRS parking garage. You have to run to the elevators, cause there are cameras on every level ( there are 10 ). But the cops on bikes are fast, if they catch you, they will break your board.

Please avoid death--street wheels work better, 96+ wheels slide too damn much on the corners. Need I say more?

Hey! You should try out Santa Teresa park. It is off of Bernal Road in south SJ. It is really mellow. Go up to the picnic area. You can bomb the steep hill or just carve and cruze the mellow area. NO cops, and the Rangers are really cool. (a couple of them are downright babes!) There is light traffic (make sure you go on the weekend, not weekday). It is pretty cool, and smooth. NCDSA sometimes meets off of "Scott Creek" (up by Milipitas, off the 680). That place is really fun, but much more steep. Anyone else have any good places? Post em!
