Where are there hills longer than 1 mile in San Diego? The only one I've found is Mt. Helix in La Mesa. I know this hill was already posted but I had to reiterate. I find it amazing that so many longboard companies are in San Diego yet this is only the second location posting for that town. WHAT'S UP SAN DIEGO? I just moved here from Santa Barbara where hills are abundant. WHERE ARE THE LONG HILLS IN SAN DIEGO? If you know please post it or email me. Thanks.

Wow I didn't expect to get 2 responses. I have asked about spots in the area many times in the past two years and never got an answer. I skate in Boston on a regular basis. Sometimes through the downtown late at night, it is fun, and quite an adrenaline rush if you like to get yelled at by drunken aholes or clipped by cars. To NH lalolm Joe. Check out the big office park in Waltham. I am not sure what the name of it is but you can see it up on a hill overlooking a resevoir if you are on 95 south. I think it is Bear Hill road or some exit like that. I have skated the long driveway up to the top a few times it's fun but not too crazy. To anyone in the Boston Area try Comm ave down past Boston College going away from the city. There is an access road that runs parallel with it, no cars about 3 tenhs of a mile long nice ride. Or try the backside of Summit Ave in Brighton, there is a side street that goes behind the playground up there, it is pretty fun. I would love to hear of any other spots around, I am willing to drive for a good hill, hell I do it for waves. Keep rolling. We should set up a group maybe?

I'll add that aside from Bricoleur, I know of two other folx from my gym that have long boards, but I don't know how active they are.
I certainly do my best to infect people, and have definitely influenced a few board purchases, sadly, not all of those are local.
Boston area riders unite!
Now, for riding locations... Office parks with gently rolling hills, esp after 6pm, are often deserted, have many many many nice roads running through them, and large parking lots.
The new Sun Microsystems campus in Burlington/MA looks like a *wonderful* place to try out once, quick like, as well as the Burlington Mall parking lot/hills, though they might be wary of skateboarders of any kind at this point. Other locations: where I find them. I often have a board in my car, and sometimes will just try the spot I'm currently parked out for a spin.
I definitely would not skate within the confines of Boston, it gives me the willies to think about it. Boston drivers and skateboarding makes me break out in a nasty rash.
May you all have tight nuts, good protection, and be free from rashes...

How many longboarders do we have around the New England area? The various skateshops like Blade,Board,&Skate claim that folks are buying longer boards like mad, but aside from NH Slalom Joe and myself, I've never met or seen anyone out there carving. I'm thinking that either people are buying longboards then discovering that they can't find any place to ride 'em, or the Boston crew is keeping the good spots for themselves. :)
I've found a couple of good hills to ride, but they're largely on college campuses further west. Community colleges where there's no resident population are particularly good. Wide hills, lots of grass if you need to bail, and after 10pm or so, very little chance of getting splattered by a drunk freshman coming the other way....

To Duane, who's looking for skatespots in Dallas/Denton, or any other old farts in Dallas who like to longboard:
Duane, do you live in Denton? I've never skated there, but it seems "hilly" compared to Dallas. I live in East Dallas (not far from White Rock Lake), and there are some decent hills in this neighborhood. The only skatepark I know of is Eisenberg's (in Plano), and it isn't skateable on a board longer than about 40". I like to carve/bomb hills and do 1960's surfing moves (cross-stepping, noseriding, etc.), and would like to meet up with some other "surf-style" freaks for sessions. All my '80's skater buds have gone on to adulthood, but this skategeezer refuses to die! Send me an e-mail and maybe we could get together to compare spots. Yeah, I'm old (37), but don't hold that against me!

There are just a few hills that are not loaded with traffic or intersections in Montreal, but there is the Mont-Royal cemetary on week days, then at the exit the "de l'église" street. There is also the hill under sherbrooke street that connects the jardin botanique to the olympic stadium (short but fun). Im tired of riding alone anyone in Montreal with new spots?

About 15 years ago there was a huge crash in the Caldicot tunnel that that goes out to lamorinda The tunnel and freeway were closed for about three Fantastic nites , as luck would have it the freeway was also just paved So we would first bomb down Tunnel road Left on hiller then jump on the freeway for a once in a life time gravity freefall to College ave exit next time you bomb out of the tunnel in a car or sit in a traffic jam , remember It got tucked by Tunnel boy.

There's hardly any flat ground in the whole city, just beautiful, newly resurfaced hills. Every taste catered for. Miskin St Toowong if you like the steeps. Just watch out for the cars pulling out from the school next door every couple of minutes.

Drew, are you heading up from California, or heading down from Washington? If you come anywhere near Central Oregon you gotta stop here, even for one day. We got hills that will beat anything in Coos Bay. Peace Gabe

There are more hills in this town than you could explore in a year. We have on hill that makes about a 2 mile loop through a golf course, a canyon, and next to a river and you end up close to where you started. If you are ever around here you gotta stop and longboard, we have the best hills. Peace Gabe

Anyone remember a city skatepark in Irvine. I shouldn't say skatepark, I should just say snake run, it was a small snake run that ended in a bank. It was in a park. Is it still around, and if so where.
thanks
