Has anyone ever thought of skating the end of RT 2 really early in the morning. It would be sooooo good. Let me know. I only know of one other longboarder that would consider it.

50 MPH/Sunday Mornings/(619)447-6089 Starts gradually into a 35 degree turn that seems like vert. The speed you reach before this turn is way too fast to come off the board and not eat shit.I managed to test that because of speed limit obiding citizens.Better than catching a bumper at the bottom of this hill. When you hit the turn it gives a slingshot sensation that is unsurpassed. The rest is straight rapid fast fun into plenty of run off.Traffic is a problem no matter the time,so we designate usually one of our non-skating buddies for traffic alert at the bottom.Cars entering on to the street cant see the traffic and I'm sure all you other skaters out there know how well they see someone riding a board. 15 miles east of San Diego I'm game if you are.One properly named street thats for sure!
P.S
If any knows where to get leathers cheap please give me a call.

Well, if you find yourself in the city of Grenoble, France. Take the higway to "Uriage" Village then do as if you were going to snow resort called Chamrousse, and take the road via Le Col de Luitel.
The spot in himself was newly repaved with perfect clean asphalt. It beggins near the Prairie de Prémol (fabulous Site!) and head to the top of the road about a few kilometers good to be downhilled.
Remeber it's a mountain road, so watch your back. There's usually few traffic, but beware. Wear a proper protection equipement and don't forget your helmet.
See you there while I'm tryiing to learn how to break :) Have fun, skate fast

Herbn, I've been to that street seeing that I used to live in Englewood Cliffs, NJ. I've never thought about riding down it, seeing that I only started longboarding since I moved, but I hope I'll be able to go there next time I visit (which won't be soon, I moved to Arizona). By the way the hills in the neighbor hoods by the McDowell Mtns. are ok in AZ.

Anyone in Austin wanna hook up to ride? I'm on the UT campus. There are some fun hills here but there are also police cars coming through every few minutes and heavy traffic. I'd really like to get out and find some outlying subdivisions to ride. Those upper-middle-class people always seem to have the nicest hills/best pavement and they don't even know what to do with them.

OK not a review but a plea. I'd love to get into longboarding (shortboarder for 14yrs) and I see heaps of longboarders around but since I don't know any I haven't gotten into it . . . Whassup? Anybody want to spread the good will--email me. My commute from Capitol Hill to downtown (I skate to work weather-permitting) has given me just a taste of the freedom of carving. Must have more
Hang loose, folks . . .

Picked up the pace last night, its really dark on this street and it can be really scary . I'm riding solo cause no one around here rides real downhill. I paced out the street width and for the most part it's about 22 feet wide (size 10s =about a foot) thats between a rough granite block wall and a narrow sidewalk and a sturdy 4 foot rough granite block wall (followed by nothing) The corners are really wide even though the inner radius is real tight, they actually kind of flatten out so if you slide them you slow down real quick. Three hills drop about 500 feet at a decent slope.I have to get paced on this hill, the speed is so deceiving I'm probabely only doing 25-30 but it feels faster, during the day I could probabely add 10mph but the rode is open then, and while thats not a problem in the straights the corners could definitely be deadly with a car coming up the other way last night on my final run, about 11pm I saw headlights coming up, dropped speed then slid to a stop, three motorcycles, there's no telling if they would even be on the right side of the road, so stopping is the only choice really. Skunks live on this street I havn't gotten sprayed and I havn't even smelled them, but they've helped push me to higher speeds, because when I see them running down the side of the rode I tend to bomb down on the opposite side.

Thats a very moving post. I'm not into downhill at all, just street and ditch skating.
After reading that post, I really started thinking about my safety equipment habits. Normally I just wear a wrist guard on my right wrist.
Then I started asking myself why, as skaters, we will wear a helmet on vert or downhill, but not usually in regular street skating. I mean, the concrete is pretty damned hard -- much harder than a human cranium.
I've decided to start wearing my helmet all the time when I skate. After 24 years of skating, this may seem a bit silly, but what trouble is a helmet really. They are totally light, and may save you from a nasty slap on the noggin, concussion, or brain injury. Granted, I have rarely hit my head (both time I was skating vert and had a helmet on, many years ago), but the nasty fall in my favorite ditch could be right around the corner.

I just read a post from Jean in Arkansas...She lost her son from a downhill accident.
PLEASE...if you aren't a super-killer-pro-ass skateboarder, don't try to 'BOMB' hills for speed. And if you are...promote the strict use of 'REAL' safety equipment.
I promote downhilling for 'RECREATION' and 'COMPETITION' at a level for both experienced and beginning longboarding. Wear your pads and ESPECIALLY a HELMET if you are skating faster than you can step off the board.
Now...Santa Cruz is full of beach side parkways and hills alike. Pick your spot with a brain...not your ego.
REMEMBER..nobody really sees you, it's your experience.

Hey, SF basicaly sucks for longboarding, its either too steep or too flat. But if you looking for a good place thats long, 19th avenue down to the ocean is steep enough to gain some speed and its a fairly long distance. I sugest you check it out. If anyone knows any other good places email me.

R.I.P.or ? .I was just told that the recent hurricane rains washed out the entire road and some of the bridges. Bad news? maybe ,it depends on what they replace it with. If it stays as a gravel rd. then my one insane ride down this steep twisty narrow private rd.is a once in a life time accomplishment, that should have been on video. If they repave ,and they probabely will, the road is access to a private camp ,with out it you would need a humvee to get drop your kid off at scenic camp yawpaw. This could be epic.

Stuttgart lies in a valley. You have to imagine a Bowl where nearly 800,000 people live and you have your choice of which part of Town you want to ride into. Our public transportation here is great, and the Bus or subway drops you off at your point of entry. It`s basically just like going Snowboarding except we don`t have lift lines.DM12,-(6 Bucks)and you and four of your friends have an all access pass to some of the best downhill Boarding you`ve ever done.If ever in Stuttgart look us up or just keep your eyes open."it`s all good"Frank Judson Stuttgart,Germany

My son risked and lost his life on a hill in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, while vacationing over last Thanksgiving break. As his mother, I've blocked out the sight of the hill. I know it was very steep and curved also, but refuse to think about it. When I saw him laying on the ground I immediately knew he was seriously injured for life, because Simon always got up. Initially, I wanted to run into a nearby field and never come back because I didn't think I could handle watching my sweet son die. When I reached him he was unable to speak and frustrated by this and confused, I do believe he was experiencing severe pain in his head. His cry, without words to me was " Mother, I am so sorry, Am I going to die?" He knew how much I loved him It was in a quiet redsidential area near our relatives, probably perfect in every way for the fun factor. Please young men, do your mothers a favor and wear a helmet. Little sister too suffers daily, as we live without our 15 year old hero. I haven't seen Simon in 10 months now and it's getting really old.

Man I wish all the real Longboarders could skate in LA. Theres so many runs all over the county. I'll list some of the best: 1.Arcadia Santa Anita, Highland Oaks, Grandview, Chantry Road, Elkins, White oak Baldwin, Sierra Madre 2.Pasadena California, El Molino, Altadena Dr., San Marino 3.Monrovia Hillcrest, Canyon, Myrtle, Alta Oaks, Mayflower, 5th 4.La Canada Foothill, Commonwealth: By far the best run that I've been able to find in So. Cal. yet. It's more than an 8 minute run at speeds of up to 45mph. If you ever thought you had any ballz email me and I'll give you directions to this hill. The street is wide and traffic is minimal. Be a real man!!!
There's so many more that I cant remeber because of the weed, but that's not what's important here. Every man must at one point in his life make the conscious decision to do soomething absolutely insane. And this we call.....for lack of a better word.....FUN. I feel as though this hill could put me into retirement, wait, what the f*ck am I saying? I will Bomb till I die.
