Bernal Heights

On Bernal Heights there's a closed-to-traffic hill that I've raced down. There aren't any cars, but there are a lot of dog walkers. The surface is a little rough, and there are some rocks in the path, but nothing you can't avoid/plow. If you want to come up and race sometime give me a yell. We butt board it mostly because there is not much stopping room - put the feet down and brake hard. The hill has some nice corners that will test your wheel grip (and nerves!) and a long straight at the end where the hard/tall wheels have an advantage. If not for the dog walkers and the runoff, this hill would be perfect.

Have you tried Greer Park in Palo Alto? It has some nice interconnected pools, but no vert. There's another park in San Mateo, but it just has a mini halfpipe and some one hit ramps. Not very longboard friendly.
How do I get to the Freemont skateboard park? Is the halfpipe a big one (please...) or just another mini?
I'm about half way between SF and SJ, let me know if you want to skate sometime.

Being a lifelong native of Fremont and a longboarder I had hoped for a cool skatepark with banks and longboard friendly stuff. Unfortunately the Fremont skatepark is a bunch of ramps and a cool halfpipe. If you are into freestyle longboarding than this might be your place otherwise forget it. I was there all by with a friend and we had the place to ourselves so I experimented with some of the ramps and found some ok lines but nothing much to talk about. There are better places around here to ride in business parks. If anyone is interested in riding around the East/South Bay let me know.

Just checked it all the winter gravel is gone.Quick smooth asphalt, did my first carving loop on my Stroker board here, probabely peaks in the upper thirties but it has a real nice turn in it and right at the best part of the turn is a well radiused driveway that heads up hill.

There is a place name los caracoles, dude big times slopes, sharp turns, and like 4 miles runs. Also i have tried in valparaiso, where the slopes can be like 45°. They were so stiff that my board flip every time i tried to carve.

75 degrees and sunny sounds like Cali but it happened here today! Took several runs after work that brought me back. Went to Snowshoe last Sunday and carved on a new school Libtech but switched back to my early 80's Barfoot. Send scene reports to Michael so everyone can read about what is happening in your neck of the woods. Get low in the turns but don't pat the dog. Tim

has anyone in delaware been to rockwood park? my friend brian and i have been riding lately. it's a gentle slope (we've never clocked it but tried, around 22 mph), lots and lots of curves, and even a little slalom course that we've set up. it's on the greenway, a path connecting delaware parks, so it's newly paved and very scenic. anyone in delaware contact so we can skate.

On a good night, starts with a 30 mph straight, a gentle left, small 35 mph straight, a really gentle right about 40, youll come out of that 45+ and down a long straight about 52-55 mph, slows to 40, gentle left 35, theres more but it slows down.

Full moon only. Hike from the base of Mt Tam at Mill Valley in full moonlight, all the way to the top. 45 minute skate to the bottom, soft cryptos recommended, helmet. Miss a carve and got to put a foot down, irie. By far the best downhill Ive ever did.
The moon is full and its time to rule And take a quest to where its best For bombers like me to be set free On a ride to the base of quite a special place.
Your best off if you can find a local to take you to the top.

A couple of,shall we say upper middle class (way upper) into down right wealthy, neighboorhoods with minimal traffic and acceptable pavement a few real busy streets for way afterhours and a street in a statepark that closes at dusk to automotive traffic. I've gotta get out again, soon its been a long snowed over winter by comparison to the last couple of years.
