Hi Kat

Seeing a chiro to get the alignment back. Let me tell ya, since I wrote that last post.. the serious pain has been subsiding.

i hope to be there but need to get my downhill head back on. right now, the skog has me rehabbing great. i've skogged long distances in the last few weeks for general training.

you've seen one cone, you've seen 'em all?

nationals in CO in one month. hmmm. that sounds great seeing that a good portion of my life was spent in CO. Maybe Gessmer can hire me to help him with the contest.

The Nationals in Co are 1 month away--- hope my road rash is better by then! Get yur ass signed up for La Costa dude! Check out the myspace page.

L5 pinched nerve
On 7/15/2007 Chris Yandall wrote in from United States  (66.91.nnn.nnn)

Not bad :)

still lots of pain that I'm certainly not used to. i think my self diagnosis of my l5 pinch causing sciatica and pirnorforis pain is the problem. i've been able to skog but not much downhill.

the neat thing about it, it seems to be subsiding. careful balance of rest and exercise along with good posture and less stress is in order !

thanks for asking!

i plan to race when i can.

congrats to lynne and jason mitchell for mt hood repeats.

i think recreational sidewalk surfing is an area that needs my expertise. i skogged 20 miles 3 days in a row this weekend. time to step it up ...

wednesday night garage skating with erik's clan is a kick in the ass.

hugz to you kitty Cat.

bitchin! video!

it almost looks like I know what I'm doing. :P

I'm sure if I dialed in my equipment and went into some serious training, I could prolly give your old man a run for his money. :D He's quite a monster down the coned pavement!

That pump-house road separates the men from the boys and the gramps!

You guys rock. Look forward to zipping up to the san clemente area. I do a website for a guy up there. www.islandshadepalapas.com . I need to come up and work on his new site and perhaps kill a few birds with one stone.

cYa soon?

damn, i remembered the dance but i didnt remember to go :)

just got back from the michigan scene. my bro did a smooth jazz concert and my other brother's wife is in her last term of ALS, 5 years... :( poor baby. keep a prayer or two in your thoughts. we are blessed that we can stand and move. she's been bedridden for over several years. and now it's hard for her to breath. :~(

more power for me to skog up the storm .. which i have recently on the boardwalks. introduced some new onefooted moves doing the swoop low cranking turns with the headphones pumping out some celestial harmony for the cement flow.

work is bitch. today is my son's b'day. 17 years old! that makes me feel reeeeeeeeeeel gooooooooood :)

2nd Shift Lunch @ 7:30 p.m.
On 5/27/2007 PSR wrote in from United States  (75.69.nnn.nnn)

Just recently, I took my fave mid-sized 'longboard' a Bozi G.S., and took off the Racing Truck/Wheel combo (Proccer/RTS 129 G: - Gumballs, 81A,78A) and put Seismics on F/R(Silver@55*,Red@25* w/ big -wedge), with yellow Roadie Racers up front, red Roadies (trimmed at the lip) at the rear, and made it my 'lunch break' cruiser. I'm working in the foothills of N.H., where within 5 minutes of the shop, I'm hiking Up 600 vertical Ft. along the ridgeline, going back, well, farther than I can hike+skate in 40 minutes, but I get at least a decent 1/2 mile and 200+ Ft. up before turning back towards the shop. Luckily, I've also found a 'quick hike' footpath that gets me Uphill quicker while cutting an 1/8th Mi. off my up route. Nonetheless, this isn't all Downhill Bombing, as the ridgeline runs down, flat, Up, Down, etc. So pumpng is the main means of creating or dissolving momentum. The old Bozi was the board I ran at The Worlds Super-G back in '04, and it's still pretty crisp underfoot. I decreased the rear heel-lift/cant(look at Pocket Pistol's wedge Foam), and added more stiff foam at the front foot's 'horseshoe' to improve thrust on flats. The Seismics have that nifty spring-thrust that's effortless once you've got Your Timing suited to them, and the Roadies, while not quite as fast, big, resilient as the Gumballs were, do add to the Tracton quotient, and ain't even Slow, though they'll hunker down and let me bleed speed when needed without resorting to slides. I have to say I'm pretty happy with the results. I didn't think that a G.S. racer would be 'calm' enough to flow pumping turns over a few miles in varied pitches, but the Bozi is just as smooth and predictable as ever. I'm considering trying Avilas up front with softer Flashbacks at the rear, just to see how much grip I can use while rolling over the frostheaves (a N. New England road obstacle, present even after the ground thaws). Lunch is definately a better experience, now that I'm eatin' on the road!

2007 May Skogging On
On 5/10/2007 Chris Yandall wrote in from United States  (70.167.nnn.nnn)

After cracking 2 ribs dirt biking at superstition mountain from a surprise jump(little too much speed over a dune peak and not realizing the other side being steep) and almost eating handle bars but instead a chest bounce, healing damn good with the skog. doctor recommended movement with a rib brace that lightly encourages the rib cage to mend. Skogging with slight arm movement has sped up my recovery. still avoiding the parks in fear of needing to put hands out to brace any fall could lead to extended injury but the skog .... yummee.

down at the beach this summer preaching the movement to all movements. bikers, inliners and joggers can see there's something special about this movement.

and i'm getting closer and closer to "bump skiing" moves on the cement flats from self generated speeds. this is a major p[art] of the skogging world.

cheers from sun diego

skogging is part of skumping
On 4/12/2007 Chris Yandall wrote in from United States  (70.167.nnn.nnn)

skumping is pumping your board and mixing it with a skog from the original skumping site that has now changed.

dont get lost in the words. get lost in doing it. you go for a run on your skateboard using both legs to push for a 100 yards or so.. then you switch to a pump. to me, that is "skumping" a mixture of skogging and pumping while skogging is a mixture of skateboarding and jogging.

please take notes. there will be a quiz later!

skogging was around way before skumping came around!

A skateboard as an exercise gym?
On 4/6/2007 Chris Yandall wrote in from United States  (70.167.nnn.nnn)

Adam, fitness and style :) they work together in many ways but ease of access to fun exercise is a challenge. like riding a unicycle can be fun but repetitious if you keep doing the same thing. the moment you can stay in one spot for long periods of time on one, the more apt you'll be able to hop from rock to rock. like skogging, you'll be able to switch stance way easier for starters. lead pushing foot is a preference from a decision made way back when starting to skate. like a bad habit, you become stuck with it. Skogging can help get over it.

Thanks for the kudos bro. And thanks for being behind the scenes like the guy behind the curtain of the wizard of oz!

Thank You Mr. Wizard!

p.s. please don't tell me you hung your board up!

if any of you guys are up for learning how to switch, let me know! the upcoming generation will be surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding switch more. yuo don't have to be goofy or regular or mongo .. Change your thinking and you may stumble on a physcial pot of gold.

As dumb sounding and perhaps awkward looking skogging may look, I have found it to be a new way to exercise and would love to share. And best of all, it keeps you in shape over and above being a cool skateboarder.

and yes... the magazine misplleded my name. YANDALL IS RIGHT. YANDELL IS SOMEONE ELSE
