just got a 2002 sv650,black naked, found it WAY cheap on a 40 mile bike ride,it had 145 miles on it,rubber strings on the tires, needed a battery and carb cleaning, got new oil just cause it was 5 years old.Oh yeah skogging,my left push has gotten much steadier/stronger,i havn't let the bike(motor) get in the way of fitness/training,it's all good.

Hey Johnny ....
You Rock! Thanks for keeping me in your thoughts. I'm so wanting to come up. It's in the stars thus far. Just reserve me a place to sleep somewhere. I can even sleep on my SV1000.
Looking forward to kicking some senior citizen racing butt!

p.s. skogging can help you lose lots of weight while gaining more confidence on your stick.

Yea, I actually lots of link-hits to my sites from it. Bad PR better than no PR? :)
Whatever the case, they pick on various characters besides me. Poor Tony Hawk getting a good dose too.
I figure if I'm doing something stirring people to hate, it must be something signifcant.
Perhaps, skogging fits in the rollerskating threads? I have been hard at the skog for months and it's leading to new moves .... new fun and most of all new awareness for my limbs the more I get out.
So I am making a pact with my skogging angel to at least offer the skog 4-5 times a week thru the winter. If it rains, back to indoor hoops.
Persevering and maintaining a balanced healthy food diet helps too. Things are starting to shake now.
I've know way more lovers than haters for skogging. So... i guess that's a good start y0.

Fun gathering last weekend even though the weather sucked.
Every gathering I make, I'm showing the kids the skog stoke and suddenly there's a change of heart when seen live.
skateboard fitness is the goal and being 53 still making waves on the cement is my cup of exercise tea ...
Thank you Adam Colton for making it happen! Chaput and his little 3 Wheeled green cart was hilarious !
So... Sector 9 :) time to clobber them for monthly skate gatherings where soulgrind.com is to be integrated into the celebration.

did a couple miles o skoggin in traffic today and i was thinking that if you needed to drag off a bit of speed(like a car making a rt turn infront of you) and you happened to be in "mongo" it would be smooth if you could drag the pushing foot immediately ,rather than bail or switch to the "normal" push foot.
** i solve this easy by being ready for any car turning near an intersection(whether immwediate or not) to hop to either foot in the regular position to avoid disaster. if you think of skogging as walking and being prepared for ensuing anything, and you're in the center of skog, it'sa piece of cake. ****
I think chaput is a mongo pusher and foot brakes into corners mongo, i think because it's the leading foot dragging it creates more of a disturbance in your balence because friction is trying to drag it to the back, while a "normal" pushing foot is already in the back. If your natural push is mongo your balence would be more dialed in that stance.
** chaput doesn't really feel like going long distances is worthy of his time, me thinks. he does have extreme back problems which probably makes that decision academic. but the key is being able to be talented enough to hop to either position to avoid disaster **
** thanks herb'n. seems to me you are right in line of understanding, perhaps, what skogging is all about. **

i think a good test of mongo balence is a braking push/foot drag.

good to hear about breakthroughs. it's like a symmetrically lined-up-bump-run for smooth carving predictable arcs that you finally hit the right line to accelerate and check your speed gracefully to get a good workout. skogging gives your nerve system a gyroscope experience as you transition from one side to the other feeling the words and the motion. and being samoan makes my heart beat a bit different than most so there's something up that the kids who rollerskate, hockey, etc like bats out of hell e.g. might pick up on something like this. it's not for everyone. it doesn't try to be. i hear often from people that it looks like a great fun exercise. i'm not trying to entertain the masses but I do like putting on some great headphone tunes and sidewalk surfing as if i have roller skates on. i alternate each foot constantly exchanging lead feet. the goal again is to go out for a jog but you use the skateboard as part of the running surface and do it for an hour non-stop for a workout! If done properly, you complete a yoga exercise on wheels.
you know you are doing it right when you go 10-14 mph or greater(SHOW ME) from self generated (non-cam(bike pedals e.g. ))speeds for long distances. and that mileage varies.
and yes, i even skogged a good 10 miler tonight with a bunch of new twists and off-on board manuevers. i have tons of computer work to do so I'm a caged animal looking for a good sunset skog. come on down! s\a/y ncdsa or SF and i'll show you a good time :)

i was sort of hitting a wall ,or on a plateau, in skogging skills, but i kept at it not all that much just whenever i was on a skateboard going to and from somewhere. Well i just broke through, my double push just got a lot better sometimes it almost feel like a reflex to switch feet,my goal is a strong push with both feet and no stall between pushes.
