I know that's why we run it from that side. I would rather run it from that side. I just remember the discussions last year about changing it up.
Yeah, I plan to do the crosstown. I am glad you made it the last event of the weekend. When you are as old as I am, a crosstown can kill you.
So, no 30 yard sprints to launch at the Bear? That sucks. It's always so fun to see the out of towner's faces the 1st time they see that! We still get at least 10 yards though, right?

There is a reason thet we run the Bear from that side Chris, it's because the the cones lead you through the smoother trannys. If you run it from the other side cones 2 and 4 present a really harsh tranny, like HARSH! Try it sometime. I am planning to improve the starting areas and limit how far back you can start.
The skatepark race will be......fun! No clues for you! Just bring a big quiver. Will you be doing the Crosstown this time?

Hey Mr. Lehm,
Style for a benny at the bear. Way cool!
I kinda hate to bring this up after what has happened last year, but here goes...
Are we still starting on the same side of the bear? Same course?
Will the park slalom be like you did a couple of years ago where you can carve and pump through it on a slalom board? Or will it be more like "get your park board and kick turn around the cones"? Will it be in the baby's arm? Or the big giant area?

You have got to be kidding, you know I hate fun! Any cross town / cross country race with 32 racers or more can be considered in the National title as well as events from any other organization that can field at least 32 racers. I don't want you to confuse the National Race Champion (of the whole season) with the All Around Champion (of the whole weekend). I think that Pierre Gravel or Claude have the best shot at the National Title for Canada, it won't be hard to track them.
I'm not up for tallying the results for the All Around from an entire season,Way too much work. Maybe after we've done this years' we'll see what's next. I'll soon be posting the point tabulation formula that KayLee and I are working on for the National Title. Basically WE will not be keeping track of individual racers, but instead they will keep their own results and submit them to us before Sandia for us to review. You could easily do the same to determine the Canadian National Race Champion.
Sandia All Around is calculated as follows.
Open Downhill: Points awarded in reverse order times 1 based on # of racers. 20 Racers, first place is 20 points.
Pro Downhill: Points awarded in reverse order times 2 based on # of racers. 32 Racers, first place is 64 points.
Hybrid Slalom Men: Points awarded in reverse order times 2 based on # of racers. 32 Racers, first place is 64 points.
Banked Slalom: Points awarded in reverse order times 2 based on # of racers. 32 Racers, first place is 64 points.
Cross Town: Points awarded in reverse order times 2 based on # of racers. 32 Racers, first place is 64 points.
Longest Grind: 2 Points awarded for each foot on a one truck grind. Only your highest point grind will count.
High Jump : Points awarded for every 4 inches 1 point. Ollie Jump : Points awarded for every 4 inches 2 points. 360's: Points awarded for each consecutive spin 1 point. Combined points in all events will determine placings.

Maybe we can throw in the results from the Central Park Race in NYC and the King of the Forest race in Vancouver, plus, invite other organizers to submit their alternative event results. Keep the actual races of slalom and downhilling out of the tally. This is more a fun title than a serious thing.

Sorry Chris, I know you want to run a TS, but we will be full up running the 3 events we are already planning, and NO it doesn't look like we'll have a field of real tight slalomers out anyways, they'll be a handful. The way we are tabulating points for the National Race Champion will be based on races that have at least 32 participants for the 'Major Status' slalom and Downhill events. Start training for the cross town! You are one of the contenders for the National Race Champion, you'll just have to beat the TimeShip Crew, and maybe Jason Mitchell.
Ian, glad to hear you are adding some all around elements to Top Challenge! The Canadians can handle it. The Race events are the ones we can consider in the National Race Championship for the season, the 'elective events' can be calculated with the same formula that we've been using for Sandia, and it will be easy enough to determine the Canadian Champion. The thing is that the Sandia All Around is determnined by results from a single weekend, Sept.23rd and 24th. If you want to determmine the North American All Arounder, then we can either go by the highest score from either event. If we combine them it seems less fair as so few riders will be able to go to both events.

Joe...
We are seriously considering doing a week of all-round events for the weekdays leading into top challenge. Although, you have got the seventies covered, I'm thinking aboout putting a bit of eighties into it. This is what I have planned.
Push Race - 15 miles aprox Hybrid- Tight slalom into practically a downhill super g then back into tight slalom. Longest ollie Highest ollie Launch ramp contest (judged)
Between Sandia and Montréal, we could name the overall all-round skater of North America. Maybe we can co-ordinate our point systems some how.
Freddy from Street Missile is thinking about throwing in a 35 mile push race too, with a silght downhill the entire course.
The goal is to get everyone to come to MTL for a week before Top Challenge. Obviously, there is no circuit this suits better than Timeship.
Thoughts?

Yo Jo,
I really hope you will reconsider dumping the TS on Bear wekend. It is not at all about me "getting my 2", but about having a fun slalom day with good slalomers, and in our own home town (state?). (Naturally I am assuming a stellar field of racers). Even if it doesn't count for points, or even if it isn't tight, you gotta let your homies go against these guys.
Joe, you know I think the world of you and totally dig what you do for skating, not only the contests, but Skate School and everything else too. I think it's way cool to be "forcing" people to hit the Crosstown. But let's slalom too.

US National Skateboard Racing Champion

In an ambitious effort to crown the US National Skateboard Racing Champion based on ALL types of racing, TimeShip Racing is revising the 2006 TSR Series to include the widest definition of Skateboard Racing. This will include ANY Tight Slalom, Giant Slalom, Downhill, Skate Park Racing, Banked Slalom and Cross Town Races held before September 25th, 2006.
The first change will be to move the US National Downhill event to the weekend following the US National Slalom event so that more racers will be able to compete in both. We are still planning to run it on Look Out Mountain, over 2 days, with different course sections for Novice, Open and Pro Classes to be held August 26th and 27th, 2006 in Golden, CO.
The second revision is to the Memorial Day Weekend race at the Bear Banked Slalom May 27th and 28th. Instead of also running a Tight Slalom race, of which there are plenty throughout the season, we will run a Skate Park Race and a Cross Town Race. This will give more racers a chance to earn points in race events that are not as common or held as often.
At the conclusion of the Sandia event, September 24th , each competitors points will be tabulated in the following manner. There will be a review board to confirm that the races from which these finishes are calculated were all eligible as ‘Major Races’. Up to 3 International races will also be considered if submitted, but you must be a US citizen to win.
Each racer will be allowed to submit their best finishes from: 2 Tight Slaloms, 2 Giant Slaloms, 2 Banked Slaloms, 2 Downhills, 2 Skate Park Races, and 2 Crosstown Races of at least 4 miles in length.
Each racer MUST have at least ONE finish in each type of racing to be eligible.
TSR will award the US National Skateboard Racing Champion $2000 and is currently seeking sponsors to raise that to $5000.
We hope that this revision doesn’t present an inconvenience to any rider trying to decide which races to attend. Hopefully it will enable racers to have MORE event choices and still be eligible for the title of US National Skateboard Racing Champion.

Yes, Hood River is put on by the Cascade folks, we have added it to our series and will be awarding points from that race towards the TSR 2006 Series which ends at Sandia with a $1000 for the winner. The TSR Series reflects the widest possible span of disciplines of any series and to win you need to be an all around rider.
TSR will not be able to hold a slalom racer at Maryhill this year because we will be using the WHOLE hill for our DH race, unlike last years event. Thanks for the offer!

Joe, I thought CSA was putting on the Hood River race. Have things changed? Gareth has been the Organizer for that race for the last few years. One other thing. I want to put on a Slalom Race at Maryhill. It won't be like last year. I will bring eveything need for the race. (Starting Ramps. Timing System,Cones,Radios) I'm sure most of the CSA group would show up too. Let me know. Thanks John

Hey Adam, I didn't ask for this, but I'll take it. Now I just hope I can keep up. Are there any statistics supporting my hunch that Chaput is the all time record holder for most posts on all forums combined.....I just LOVE combined events!
Yes Miller, $1000 for the TSR series winner. Will that be you? I should ue this opportunity to post the series again, and again. First off you need to attend as many TSR Series races as possible to gain points by adding up your: Best 3 TS finishes, best 3 GS or Banked Slalom finishes and best 3 DH finishes. All Around points will be awarded for elective events.
The 2006 TSR Series
The 5th annual race at Bear is the Worlds Largest Banked Slalom. There will also be a head to head Tight Slalom race. It will be May 27th and 28th, 2006 in Albuquerque, NM.
The 2nd annual North American Speedboard Championships at Maryhill, the most technical course in North America with 22 turns and mega tail winds. We’re running Cowzer Corner too so get ready. It will be June 24th and 25th, 2006 in Goldendale, WA.
The West Coast Slalom Championships will have Tight and Giant Slalom and will be held July 15th and 16th, 2006 in Hood River, Oregon.
The 3rd annual US Nationals of Skateboard Racing will include Tight Slalom, Giant Slalom and a Downhill. It will be held on August 18, 19 and 20th, 2006 in Golden, CO. The DH will be held on Look Out Mtn. Pass. Vail Pass helped initiate the Slalomeers into DH, now it’s time to step it up! TSR will again award the Overall US Champion $1000 cash.
The 5th annual Top Challenge Speedboarding Event will be held Sept. 2nd and 3rd, 2006 in Montreal, Canada. Good luck Will Brunson!
The La Costa Open will be 2 days of high-speed Tight and Giant slalom racing. It will be held on the legendary hills of La Costa, CA, September 16th and 17th 2006.
The 6th annual Sandia All Around Challenge will be 6 events including a Slalom race, Downhill race, Cross-town race, High Jump, Ollie Jump, and 360s. It will be held September 23rd and 24th, 2006.
TSR will award the 2006 Series winner $1000 at the conclusion of this event.
