Thinking about heading out for the event. PDX? Need some info, please e-mail me.

It will be last minute as I am looking for cheap air fare and it seems like it win out over Hog Hill right now......

Rides and floor space would be appreciated!

It would also give me a chance to discuss World Championships with those in charge...

Thanks in advance

Fun Times at Tabor
On 6/10/2009 Paulskiivoxg wrote in from (173.8.nnn.nnn)

Thanks to Scott for the fun afternoon of slaloming at Tabor! We rode the old abandoned soap-box-derby hill complete with a carpet of dinky conifer pollen-cones, twigs and other slippy slidy debris and no broom or leaf blower, I'm really impressed that neither of us went down. It was a good afternoon well spent riding. Schlater - P

Lance offer
On 5/22/2009 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (24.21.nnn.nnn)

That sounds like a wonderful idea and I appreciate the offer. That will make some racer very happy!

The spirit of the Oregon State Games would suggest that the board be given to the Jr with the most need, or randomly amongst the Jr's or something other than the fastest (who will likely already be stocked with great gear).

I think that's a great idea for the Peter Ramirez Slalom Cross Jr winner!
Why don't you send his mom, Janet an e-mail & get some input from her?

Pat-
I wanted to print a custom longboard for the top Jr. finisher of the Peter R. race. Is that alright? Is there anything you think (besides the obvious) I should include on it? It will be a complete, 42-48 inches long, with a very nice set up on it. Let me know. Look forward to riding with you- Lance

Furious vs Welcome Wagon
On 5/19/2009 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (67.88.nnn.nnn)

Mr Furious was all bark. We speculated that his threat to call the cops would have worked against him, as he may have been driving on the road after drinking. He did not threaten to have a gun. On the scale of pleasantness, Mr Furious was worse than Mr Welcome Wagon. At least Mr Welcome Wagon was brief...

First of all congrats to the Hammer on the nearly .8 second win, great job. I'll tell you, we have tried to get something, anything going down here like you have there in the PNW. We can't seem to hook em like you have there, oh well.

Hey, since the Worlds are now 2 months away, is there any chance of seeing a list of who/whom has signed up and paid to attend? I was talking to another racer the other day who asked about the same thing. Watcha think????

fast & furious 17th may
On 5/18/2009 Jon Boles wrote in from United States  (76.104.nnn.nnn)

well there was plenty of 'fast' from the racers who took the whole hill, and we had the neighbours provide the 'furious' too :-)

its a crazy fast hill, i couldn't summon the guts to take it from the top. seriously was not expecting to clock the fastest time of the newbies.. guess i'm not as bad as i thought. going to try for the open division next time!

it was a fun day and it was great to meet a few locals. i'm definitely going to come to the august race and hope i can get to the june one too.

i reckon it'd be cool to see some more younger longboarders there. i reckon there's a lot of crossover between slalom racing and longboard skating.

Fast and Furious
On 5/17/2009 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (24.21.nnn.nnn)

I want to thank John Stryker for putting on the race, Kimi for the sandwiches, Judy for being head timer/scorekeeper, Brad Jackman for setting the course.

I had a great time, despite getting a full year's worth of F-bombing from the neighbor who didn't like having to go around a few cones in his car.

I think in 5 minutes of his diatribe, he used 5 words other than the F-word. They were: "cone" "obstacle course" "car" "I"

That hill is great and hopefully next time I will have the confidence to take it from the top.

See you guys in a couple of weeks. Be prepared to talk tasks for Worlds please. I need to do some delegating.

Cat and Wyoming Stuff
On 4/8/2009 Some Guy from Wyoming who's also Some Guy from Oregon wrote in from (173.8.nnn.nnn)

Hey Cat, that's some pretty good stuff and pretty accurate. I miss that about Wyoming (and Montana as well). I'll be going home to visit my parents, one sister and hopefully both of my nephews in August. That will be good. If you go to Cheyenne, they added a bunch of cement and it's actually now one of my favorite skateparks of all time. True to form, most of the rednecks have been now replaced by gangbangerwannabee's who have completely tagged the whole place with really stupid grafitti. Some of it is pretty good and well done and shows some practice and form but, well you know the rest of the story.

What ever happened to Drew? Is he still around?

Hopefully I'll see you in Salem or Hood, Schlater - P

Special thanks to Addison and Paul Steiger for helping mark courses, Matt Shivers for loading, unloading, cleaning, etc, Pat C for setting timers. Thanks for the DVD chronicling of past Northwest slalom CSA events to the Moy Slalom Heritage Foundation.

Larry Peterson and his bungee start was some good entertainment for sure.

It was great seeing all the old and new faces show up too!

Hey Pauliwog!
On 4/7/2009 Cat wrote in from United States  (67.117.nnn.nnn)

Just got this from a friend in Wyoming:

98% OF AMERICANS SCREAM BEFORE GOING IN THE DITCH
ON A SLIPPERY ROAD.
THE OTHER 2% ARE FROM WYOMING AND THEY SAY, 'HOLD MY
BEER.'

You're know you're from WYOMING if:

You'll eat ice
cream in the winter.

It snows 5 inches and
you don't expect school to be canceled.

You have no accent at all, but
can hear other people's. And then you
make fun of them.

Humid is over 25%.

Your sense of
direction is: Toward the mountains and Away from the
mountains.

You
say 'the interstate' and everybody knows which one.

You think that May
is a totally normal month for a blizzard.

You grew up planning your Halloween costumes around your
coat.

You know what the Continental Divide is.

You don't think
Coors beer is that big a deal.

You've gone off-roading in a vehicle that
was never intended for such
activities.

You always know the elevation
of where you are.

You wake up to a beautiful, 80 degree day and you
wonder if it's going
to snow tomorrow.

You don't care that some
company renamed it, the Broncos STILL play at 'MILE HIGH' stadium!

Every movie
theater has military and student discounts.

Everybody wears jeans to
church.

You know what a 'trust fund hippy' is, and you know its natural
habitat is Boulder, Colorado.

A bear on your
front porch doesn't bother you.

Your two favorite teams are the Broncos
and whoever is beating the crap out of the Raiders.

When people out
East tell you they have mountains in their state too,
you just laugh.
