Best-Of Ncdsa (0)   Informative (0)   Abuse(0)   Flag Moderators (0) State Games Courses On 6/19/2006 Paul Howard wrote in from United States  (71.193.nnn.nnn) Hey, Thanks to Pat and Pete and Cory from Salem for helping out with the course setting and session afterwards. -The G/S is REALLY open and fast if you pump and tuck, it's WAY fun! -The 100 coner will be hard, I suggest using Cambria's, La Costa's, Stingers, and/or putting grease in a set of bearings specific for this one event(I fully DO NOT recommend taking out your spacers and tightening down the axle nut, you will VERY likely overheat your bearings and lock-up). -The Hybrid/General was very do-able on my G/S board, there's a few offsets that are a smidge tricky and there is one neg-offet "gimmie" cone to keep you on your toes(and it's not obvious like most of mine are, it's diabolical like the way Stryker sets them-but very easy, it's also marked with BIG arrows). If people have too much problem on the 1st "bad" offset, we'll trim them in a bit if needed(they're only bad if you're hammering through the course, newbies should be OK). And, the hybrid/general courses are MIRROR SYMMETRY. It will be exciting to race if your dead even with whoever you're racing against when you go through the "close" cones. These courses are technical(but not too technical) and not at all tight, easy if ran slow, challenging if worked and ran fast. Overall, I think these are some of the coolest, funnest, bestest courses I have EVER set, they will be fun and fast or my name isn't Les Schwab. OK, so that really isn't my name and I won't give you free beef or tires if you don't dig my courses but I'll stand by my claim. You're board will thank you for bringing it to this race. We have had drop-in skating sessions that included setting up a timer. The Salem City Park rules allow for drop-in (unreserved) use of the facilities for recreational purposes. I was bummed I had to leave before my last run. Thanks to everyone for encouragement and being helpful to beginners, Brazillian wheels and all... I took some pics, some turned out well aothers not so much. It's hard to concentrate on photography when you're thinking about the cones. Slalom is hard to photograph well/interesting anyway. The purpose will be to get ALL 3(actually 4) good workable courses SET and MARKED, then set cones on whatever course we want and have a slalom session. I will set the General/Hybrid last since that is what I'm guessing people will want to session on the most (I do). What I'm NOT going to do is set one course and waste the day riding it and not getting the other courses set, BUSINESS FIRST, FUN TO FOLLOW. If you're interested on getting in on it, bring a leaf blower, some cones, a helmet and your setups and yourself and whatever else you want to bring. Don't worry about chalk, I'm going to color code the courses with carpenters wax crayons. CHAPUT - Cool! Bring some bushings too! Adios-Paul     Rate post 239944 ! Big thanks to "that guy" for putting it together, setting a super fun course,and bangin' his head against the wall, trying to get the timer working. We are lucky to have people like Thor and Alisha to make it happen when we needed it. Thank God for weekend minutes. I do want to point something out. Over the course of almost 60 timed runs, I think the consistency was dead on. At least a few of us had less than a second difference through our 3 runs. That seems pretty tight to me. Thanks Ladies!
