Third of several races in the Cascade Slalom series.
Course: This is a 100-cone straight tight race set on the
best surface west of the Mississippi. See the web site for pictures and a
course profile. The surface is A++, being very grippy and very smooth.
Easy
Course: This course will start on the less steep portion of the
track and proceed down into the flat. A considerable portion will be
approx 6' spacing on the flat, so the competitor will need to maintain his speed
by pumping on the flat. The intended design of the course is to allow most
people to make this course with some effort. The easy course will be
a dual race with cone penalties and a TBD "clean run bonus".
Racers should expect 2 qualifying runs and 4 or 6 final runs in a ladder
bracket. We will decide on 4 or 6 runs depending on how fast we are
getting runs done.
Fast
Course: This course will start on the top of the track, using the
steep portion and the less steep portion. Tight, fast turning skills will
be required to make it through this course. The course setting will be
optimized to get the quickest time through 100 cones. The intended design
of the course will be to allow a few very skilled competitors make it through
the course in record-setting time. The fast course will be a single lane
and only times run clean will count. This will be a "jam session" format
where people can race as much as they want until we leave the course around 5pm.
Rules: This is a public park track that we are using on a "drop
in" basis. We do not have a permit reserving this for our use, but we have
successfully used this park in the past for events, so I don't anticipate any
problems. No booze, no FOR SALE signs, no unruly behavior, no banners/advertizing,
helmets required. There will be a very large track meet going on in the
stadium adjacent to our track, so parking will be limited. You might want
to park at the upper parking lots and ride your board down to the track.
Coneheads: Racers are expected to be coneheads (watch for cone
penalties) while they are not racing.
