The Indian School Race will require the use of any helmet, as will the Skate Park Slalom Race.

The Bear Race will require the use of any full face helmet.

The Albuquerque Outlaw weekend will feature New Mexico's two fastest and most famous ditch events with a skatepark slalom at Los Altos. The rest of the weekend will be spent riding the endless terrain we all enjoy with shuttle vans, friends and an awards party at Kelleys Brew Pub. The race events are INVITATIONAL for a very good reason, and will hopefully be finished each day by noon. This will leave the rest of the day to skate until you drop! If you are not an invited racer, you can still come for the weekend, cheer on your favorite racers and teams during the races, then test your skills at these amazing venues that Albuquerque is so famous for. Registered skaters can race one event for $50 or both for $100, there will also be an Overall Award $$$ presented by TimeShip Racing for the racer that finishes the best in all three events.

Saturday the 28th will be the Indian School Outlaw Race, course to be set by the Marshall. After the race we'll ride a variety of ditches, ramps and pools before heading off to the Los Altos Skatepark for a fast Park Slalom to be set by TimeShip Racing. This race is open to all registered racers, there will be no additional entry fee.

On Sunday the 29th we will hold the 4th annual Race at the Bear, the worlds largest banked slalom, course to be set by TimeShip Racing. Then off to hit some of the spots we didn't get to the day before, and finishing at Assets bar and grille for an awards party with free flowing beer, cash prizes and lots of schwagg. Being Memorial day weekend, we also have the option of having an extra day if we need to roll one of the races over due to unforseen circumstances.

These hotels are reasonably priced, and right next to eachother. They are also near food and a five minute walk to the Los Altos Skatepark.

Overall Results: Final Results of the Abq. Outlaw Invitational 2005

An awards dinner was held at Kelly’s Brew Pub on Sunday night and in addition to the awards for a weekend full of racing we also awarded the following:

Worst Wreck: Steve Lange sliding shirtless and unconscious across the finish line at Carmel for the WIN! Course workers later told me that he wasn’t just pushing hard off of the last cone, resulting in his crash, but that he had been pushing around almost EVERY cone on the whole course! Taking the already famous Abq ‘Gnar Factor’ to a whole new level with a cheese grater finish.

Most Determined: Isabelle Caudle for taking DFL, 2 DQ’s and nursing her sons’ rolled ankle while still staying stoked the whole time. You rocked at the Bear! Thanks for stoking my daughter Isa.

Farthest distance Traveled: Matt Mac Donald from England (sea level and moist). Over the course of the weekend he was heard to say that he had never been so: Hot, dry, red, thirsty, tired, happy, out of breath, stoked, stoked, STOKED!

Most Style: Bennett Harada. Hands down and by popular demand! I just hope he gets the Bear pic in Concrete Wave, styling his leather trench coat gracefully to avoid hitting the cones with it. It was a sight.

After all the “Indian School” hype, schwagg and preparation it was not to be. Shut down by the ‘MAN’ and a nosy neighbor. I love talking to uniformed officers in my leathers, holding my helmet and slide gloves as they tell me about safety. One was half my age and could barely keep from smiling. I have a collection of pictures of me and the MAN exchanging words and if anyone snapped a shot of this weekends shut down I will gladly trade for TimeShip product. George, thanks for joining me in that memorable moment with the Open Space Rangers, we always knew that someday, someone might notice that instead of 4 or 5 of us jumping out of our cars and under the bridge that there was 40 or 50 of us jumping out of a U-Haul and under the bridge!

The Marshall George McClellan was ready with a plan ‘B’. One of many pre-marked courses at alternate ditches throughout Abq. We were off to Carmel Ditch. High walls, sweet tranny and cheese grater smooth. Palmer told racers it was a broom finish, others described it as a rake finish. Chuck Dinkins commented that it was a misleading description considering that some of the racers were pulling on full leathers. After seeing Lange’s raw back I was glad I had leathers, even if I don’t look like a skater, at least I won’t be sticking to the sheets like a burn victim! Steve was awarded a set of the new TimeShip Racing Slide Gloves for his wreck, though I really doubt they would have helped save him from that nasty crash! It was like carving tiles for ¾ of a mile.
