Note from PSR:

I'll be up to look the hill over carefully tommorrow. For reference purposes, it's the Ball Mountain Dam, which is about 3/8 mile West of the village of Jamaica off of Vermont Route 30. Use Vermont Exit 2 from I-91 to get to Route 30, and add 18 minutes to he drive from there. At the Dam, I've got a few places we can set up cones, it's just a matter of 'how steep'. So, I'm looking at a possible G.S. on the 'far side', that runs down to the parking lot there next to the garage. That parking area would be needed in part as a 'safe braking' zone. Lower down on the far side, there's parking along the roadside, and then the Cul-de-sac at the bottom next to the Dam itself. I'll need to get in there and sweep some dirt away, as the cul-de-sac is tricky otherwise, but does allow a decent braking area. If Shaggy's T.S. marks are still visible, I can mark off of them, and run a parallel T.S. that's on 6 FT centers down into the cul-de-sac. That'd take a bit more organization, as the lanes need to be swapped so that each racer gets a fair shot. One other possibility, but one that puts parking slots well away from the course, is to use the big, but not crazy-steep, "S" curve on the nearside hill. This could run any ol' course you want, but is a blast with an open. G.S.-flavored Hybrid. The nice things on this slope are relative lack of wind, and a totally buttery uphill runout, no braking required. I'll ask the Rangers about the restrooms at the Garage. Swimming is not advised, but not illegal, either (same is true with Rock Climbing and Kayaking). Traffic flow there is usually really light, but people do just drive in for various reasons (usually curiosity), so 'CAH' is still a watchword. If the roadway has gotten too banged up (it seemed fine on the nearside when CMC and I skated it earlier), I'll ask about using the road just outside of the Schwippert's place, which is all of 15 minutes further away. That hill is Not Slow, but the tar is fresh as of last autumn, and the road is a dead-end, with the hill being the last of it. It's good for a single-lane course preferably a G.S./Hybrid, as the road turns left down the hill before it flattens out. Luckily the Stratton Town Selectmen live one five out of 8 houses on the road, so we should get it for the asking. I hope that is all the info you need. If not, let me know, I'll go find out. Aloha, Eric
