Friday 30th Check In at Los Altos Skatepark
Register and or check in 6:00pm to 9:00pm, get racers # and T-Shirt
Saturday 1st: Downhill Day, Elective Events
Check in at intersection of Highway 14 and Sandia Crest Rd* : 8:00 am
Riders Meeting: 8:15 am
Load Vans with Racers: 8:30 am. Miss the van, you miss the race.
Racing Starts: 9:00am,
Ditch Play: 3:00 pm
Dinner Break: 5:00 pm
Grind, Jump and Spin at Los Altos Skatepark: 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm
Sunday 2nd: Cross Town, Banked Slalom and Slalom
Cross Town Race: Meet at intersection of Tramway and Indian School*: 8:30 am
Race Starts: 9:00 am and finishes at 9:30 at UNM North Campus
Banked Slalom: 10:30 at the Ditch along Rio Bravo Blvd on the West mesa*.
Slalom Challenge: 1:00 along the bike path right next to the Ditch.
*To reach the Race Day meeting spot, take I-40 East to exit 175 in Tijeras. Veer left onto NM 14, traveling under the interstate. Continue about 7 miles North through Cedar Crest to Sandia Park. Look for NM 536 (the road to the Crest) turn left, go 100 yards then turn right and park in the dirt lot.
*Please park in the lot for the movie theatre, not Hinkle Family Fun. Shuttle service will be provided for registered racers.
*To reach Rio Bravo Blvd, head south on I 25 past the Airport exits. Get off on the Rio Bravo exit, State Rd. # 500. Drive all the way to the west mesa, past Coors Rd and up the hill. The ditch will be on your right.
Hotel rooms may get harder to come by because this weekend will also be the Abq International Balloon Fiesta. We're going to get an eyeful of the most colorful event on the planet.
These hotels are reasonably priced, and right next to eachother. They are also near food and a five minute walk to the Los Altos Skatepark.

To reach these hotels from the airport, take I-25 North to I-40 East, I-40 to the Eubank exit North. Turn right off of Eubank onto Hotel Avenue. The Los Altos Skate Park is 2 blocks west of the Hotels on Lomas, past the softball fields. No fees, no hassles and no pads required.
Prepare Thyself. The 5th Annual Sandia All Around Challenge will be radically changing format to put more emphasis on Strength, Endurance, Quiver and Shoes. You used to be able to bring 3 boards, 1 pair of shoes, party all night, have a cigarette before your last run and WIN. Not anymore, were stepping it up, were raising the bar, were leaving the whiners, haters and sissies in the dust. And were going Outlaw to do it.
Riders will be competing in the following events, awarded points for each event they compete in, and their combined points will determine placings. Each event will also have an honorary winners medal, but the Prize Purse will go to the All Around Riders. You may compete in as many or as few as you wish.
How many boards and shoes will you need to:
6 mile DH race down the newly re paved Sandia Crest Road. We'll do the "Soul Jam" section as a race, them head back up to fre ride the road until traffic picks up around 10:30 or so.
Cross Town Race: 8 miles down Constitution Ave, Tramway to UNM. Slightly to gently downhill, some pumping, pushing, drafting and gasping. 1 run.
Banked Slalom: 1/3 of a mile 40 cone banked slalom for time. 3 runs
Tight Slalom: limited push 50 cone leg krusher for time. 10 cone DQ, .5 second penalty per cone. 3 runs.
Longest Grind: Points by the inch in the Los Altos combi pool. 3 tries.
High Jump, Ollie High Jump and 360s will get you extra points at the Los Altos Skatepark.
Its not for the Bros or the Pros, its for the die hard skater in all of us.
