Thrasheville Mountain Skate Festival 33 Registered Contestants. Event Date and Time: Saturday, May 28, 2011  09:00 Event Duration: 1 day Location: Asheville North Carolina Entry: Open Helmets: Mandatory Classes: Slide Jam Downhill Organizer: Longboard Asheville Map: Entry Fee: $30 Contest Info: After months of ups and downs I can finally announce what's going down in Asheville on May 28! A benefit for Loving Food Resources http://www.lovingfood.org/index.htm Format: Slide Jam and Mini Downhill Race on legally closed road. Entry: $30 paypal limited to first 50 riders paid. Please specify if you are entering the slide jam, race, both, or interested in some other format. Sign-in begins at 9:00am at the pump track next door to Kenilworth Presbyterian. Competitors can walk or shuttle to the event road at 10:00 am and shred till 4:00pm. More about the road: See video below and stay tuned for more. The course is a steep 300 ft. section of flawless high-aggregate (predictable slides) asphalt with two hairpin turns. The course ends in a short uphill runout. Speeds of up to 80.83 mph are possible. After Party: BBQ and awards ceremony at the pumptrack next door to the church begins at 5:00 pm. Bring your bikes! Prizes: Prizes will be raffled to benefit LFR so everyone wins. We will announce sponsors as they come on board. We already have a full face helmet to give away and a couple of decks have been promised.To enter the raffle just bring non-perishable food items to donate or throw in some cash. Right now LFR needs sugar, tuna, canned chicken, canola oil and coffee the most. There will also be prizes and awards for fast, steezy skating (1st annual Standie Awards).
