As I sit her and write this they forecast for the days of the Sizzler are not promising here is a link so that you all can look for yourselves. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USTX0611 Because of the large amount of you that are coming for out of sate and out of the country, we have to decided to wait until 8:PM Central standard time on Monday, If things stay the same we will be rescheduling the race for April 21st & 22nd 2012. Believe me when I say this is not what we (as I'm sure any of you) would like to see happen. But I think that nobody want to pay for their flight entry fee hotel room car rental and such so that they can sit in the hotel room. We will be keeping a eye on the weather and as long as we think that there is good chance we can get at least two days on the hill every thing will go as planned, just keep in mind that one of those days will be a long one. So get your Butts to Texas and lets Skate!!!! weather attached so you all know what it's gonna be. http://www.weather.com/weather/tenday/USTX0611:1:US Come and Join the Teaxas Outlaws in Houston (Hockley) Texas for Three days of Slalom Fun. The Sizzler will be the opener for the 1st ever North American series. All three days will be held at the Hockley Soap Box Derby hill. For those of you who have not been to this spot it is as close to perfect of any venue that I have been to. The Asphalt on a scale of 1-10 is a 9, (9 due to some wear this past year) the hill is a quarter mile long and drps at 1st a 6% then a 4% grade speeds can reach 30-35 MPH due to a almost constant tail wind. On Friday we will run The GNAR Single elimination Slalom Cross, from 4 to 9PM. The course is pretty wide open with three double (racers in different lanes) and two Single (both racers around the same cones) lanes. No timer is used on this race, there will be finish lines judges at the bottom of the lanes. One note on this event. Right as I write this we are waiting for the city of Hockley to finish the additional lights on the course. If they do not get then done in time Then we will not Run the Slalom X. It's crazy enough with two people in the same lane, it the dark would be just unsafe. So if it is canceled we will run the downhill on that night instead. Saturday will giant & Hybrid Slalom, practice starts at 9:am racers meeting at 10:30AM and racing right after that. Giant Slalom will be run single lane jam style, cone penalty of .2 per cone and 15% dq limit. You will be able to pick your start, we will have the BAR (Big Ass Ramp, 9 feet tall. The Ricky Byrd style ramp. Or no Ramp. You will also have the option of starting farther down the hill. We will have two points and will add penalty time to your runs time. This way everybody regardless of skill level will be able to have their two runs. Hybrid slalom will done 1st with qualifying and then head to head racing. Cone penalty is .10 and 15% DQ Limit. We will be using a Trakmate timer will false start detection and Ricky Byrd Style start Ramps. Both A and B class will start fro the top. We will also run declared C class Hybrid farther down the hill with push boxes instead of start ramps. Sunday will be tight slalom and Downhill. Again with Qualifying and then Head to Head racing. ALL racers that want to try and qualify for the A class in the tight slalom can but only the top 16 will be the A Class and will be running head to head. All other racers will be running single lane jam style one run in each lane from farther down the hill. After that we will be running the Downhill race all racers together push start only, again you may choose your starting point and we will add time to your run time. Please Note we will be running Masters (assuming that we get 4) Woman's (again assuming we get 4) and Juniors 17 & Under assuming that we get 4) In tight and Hybrid these classes will run as their own class but in GS and Down Hill all classes will run together but these classes will be pulled out. ON Monday we will have a low gear skate park day at the Houston Skate Park. All Racers are required ro wear safety gear consisting of at least a helmet elbow and knee pads. And to sign a waiver any minors (persons under 18) must have their parent or guardian sign for them. The boy scouts will be there again this year to feed lunch to all the hungry racers, again like last year this will included in your entry fee. This year's Sizzler will have a filmaker on the race Course her name is Tania Romero and she is working on a film about skate saftey.
