Continuing the La Costa Open legacy the 2013 Sk8Kings US National Championships at Oceanside will take place July 13 - 14 in San Diego County, California. La Costa Boys and So Cal Racing are presenting this third annual event at the legendary Loretta Street in Oceanside – with the added title distinction of the US National Championships for 2013. The event is sanctioned by the ISSA (International Slalom Skateboard Assoc) with a Main status official world ranking. The event is expected to draw top racers from the USA, Canada and Europe - including past and present World Champions - to compete in an exciting head-to-head format in hybrid, a highly technical tight slalom, and a 40 mph giant slalom over this two-day event. A bonus slalom clinic event for new racers is planned for Sunday afternoon. Two Days of Racing – Saturday July 13 & Sunday July 14, 2013 Classes: Pro, Am/Open, Masters, Junior/Kids Entry Fee: Pro, Am/Open & Masters - $100 Weekend / (both days) or $50 one day only; $15 Junior; kids free (Juniors are defined as aged 12 to 17 and Kids are 11 and under) Safety Gear: Helmets are mandatory for all racers/all classes and safety gear (knee/elbow pads & full finger gloves strongly recommended). Both are nice airports to use and each are about a 40 min drive to venue in Oceanside. There is a third airport, Long Beach (LGB) about 20 mins further north of OC/SNA. An alternative to keep in mind when checking rates. Southwest Airlines serves all three airports and still offers 2 free bags which is the dream when you are hauling skate gear. Just for reference, LAX (Los Angeles) is about an hour further north from OC/SNA aiport. Allow at least 2 hours driving time to get to Oceanside from LAX.
