In 1975 the Bahne-Cadillac Del Mar Nationals changed skateboarding forever...
and now almost thirty years later we're doing it again.

Be a part of skateboarding history. This is the first race of it’s kind…a combination of dual slalom, dual giant slalom and two-man downhill. We’re calling it SLALOMCROSS.

Course
The course will begin with each racer blasting out of his own start ramp into an eight cone stringer with seven foot spacing. As each racer exits their respective stinger it will be a hole shot to the first “pass through” gate, which will consist of one, circular 3.5’ tall x 18” diameter marker and a regulation slalom cone. Both racers must “pass through” these two markers. There will be adequate room for both racers to skate through the gate.

The course steepens and turns right after the first “PT” gate, a short straightaway follows. PT gates will take the racer from one side of the road to the other. The course then takes a ninety-degree turn to the left, followed by a short steep chute, there will be
3-4 PT gates in this section.

The steep chute exits into a slightly off-camber ninety-degree, right turn. Upon exiting this turn each racer will return to their color coded course. The cones in this slightly uphill section will be in the 7’ to 9’ feet apart, offset just a bit. As you crest the uphill section the course steeps once again and the cones are set in giant slalom fashion.

Midway through the GS section there will be a gap of 50’ to 60’ feet that will be void of cones. Each racer will need to decide whether to tuck this section or try and pump it with out the aid of cones. Then it’s back to 6 to 8 more cones set in GS fashion. The finish line will be 15’ to 20’ past the last cone.

Total length of the course will be almost 1100’. Approximately 60 cones. Practice times ranged from 44 to 55 seconds. The course surface is rated 6/7 on a scale of 10. Hay bales will be set in critical sections. You can view the hill on the experimental race forum here on SlalomSkateboarder.com.

Racing Format
Each racer will be given two qualifying runs. There will be very high importance placed on qualifying fast. Bracketing will be the typical 1-32, 2-31 set up. The higher qualifier in each heat will be given lane choice. In the head to head racing there will be no clock, first racer across the finish line wins. One heat per bracket, winner advances. No second run, no switching lanes.

Cone penalties - Qualifying
Large markers on PT gates–If displaced from it’s circle or knocked over – DQ
Regular slalom cones, either type of gate –.2 second

Cone penalties - Head to Head Finals
Large markers on PT gates–If displaced from it’s circle or knocked over – DQ
Regular slalom cones, either type of gate: You will be DQed upon knocking over or displacing six cones. There will be no time penalties.
Incidental contact in the PT section is allowable. Any contact used to create an advantage will result in a DQ. This isn’t roller derby. Course marshalls will monitor the "pass through" gates section.

Purse
This is a Pro and Open event. Prize money will be paid to 4th place. First place will be a minimum of $1,000. The winner of the race will also receive the Barry Lowe Memorial Cup. Open class will receive trophies or medals.
