hey i know this for northern cali riders, but i picked up longboarding a little while ago and ive gotten my friends into it but the only thing is, i live in NE and there is not alot of boarders and w/that said the cops r starting hate the few of us that ride. what im tring to say is that i want to start a longboarding team w/my buddys but i dont really know were or if theres anything around here

Adam, at what point do you declare a forum dead? I suggest this forum be replaced with a new one called Skate History that can be used to ask and answer questions that pertain to the history of our sport, it's innovators and
important moments. I'm sure there would be alot of interesting threads and discussions.

The SRA proud to announce the “Pump Station Cross Over” Downhill and Slalom race. This event will showcase Downhill and Giant Slalom at its finest. This race will bring both downhill racers and slalom racers together to test the waters and expand their horizons. We hope this race will get more riders to start crossing over and get more race organizers to hold similar races.
RACE DATE: May 07, 2006
ENTRY FEE: Entry will be $30; paid the day of the race.
LOCATION: This event will be located at the World Famous Pump Station located in San Diego, California.
Parking is available at the top of the hill in the Chili’s/Coldwell Banker/Wendy’s parking lot; just park and skate down the hill.
PRIZES & AWARDS: A cash prize will be awarded to the TOP 3 OVERALL racers. What this means is if you want a shot at cash you must participate in BOTH disciplines. If you only race one discipline you are disqualified from the overall. However trophies will be awarded to the top 3 in both the Downhill and Giant Slalom. Product prizes will also be awarded compliments of the growing list of sponsors. Award ceremony will be held at Chili’s followed by a session at the Poway skate park.
RULES OF ENGAGEMENT: There will be absolutely no parking on the hill other than support and contest organizer vehicles. If you have a lot of equipment drop it off in the pits (The cul-de-sac near the driveway) and park you car back up near Chili’s. Why? The area where everyone usually parks will be part of the downhill course. We really don’t want any racers to clip any mirrors, get doors opened on them or slam into someone’s new car. Thanks in advance.
For both the slalom and downhill events: A HELMET AND HAND PROTECTION ARE REQUIRED. We recommend for the downhill you wear leathers or full pads and for the GS full pads. Other safety of the rider is up to the rider. If you want to be a tough guy and not wear proper equipment you do so at your own risk.WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INJURIES OR DEATH while participating in the event.
This is a SKATEBOARD race; A SKATEBOARD is defined as: 1 Board, 2 Trucks, and 4 Wheels. ANYTHING OTHER THAN: "1 Board, 2 Trucks, 4 Wheels" IS NOT CONSIDERED A SKATEBOARD! IF YOU ATTEMPT TO RIDE ANYTHING OTHER THAN A SKATEBOARD YOUR ENTRY FEE WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED AND YOU WILL NOT PARTICIPATE IN THE EVENT.
If any racers have extra equipment please bring it. Most downhill guys don’t have slalom set ups and vice versa. So if you have an extra Downhill setup, GS setup, leathers, pads, helmets or gloves please bring it!
RACE FORMATS & COURSES:
Downhill Format – Format will be announced day of the race at the racers meeting. It will be unlimited push from the start line and front wheels across the finish line constitutes as a “finish”. Racer transportation from top to bottom will be provided by The Sector 9 short bus.
Downhill Course – The downhill course will start near the top of Cara Road, go thru the driveway and cul-de-sac and end where the slalom races usually end. The course has few turns and you can tuck the whole thing. The course is about a mile long and expect speeds of 35+ mph.
Giant Slalom Format – 3 timed runs, fastest of your 3 runs is your final time. Hit one cone and its cool – hit two and it’s a DQ. Timing system will be provided by LCB’s Lynn Cramer and manned by Tiger Williams.
Giant Slalom Course – The GS course will be big and fast in typical Pump Station fashion. Course setter is TBA and will be announced here. Speeds will be in excess of 25+ mph.
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS: A racers meeting will Be at 10:00 AM, Sunday May 7th. Everything else will fall in place from there till we run out of daylight.
OVERALL SYSTEM & DETERMINATION: Overall determination is going to be made by adding your two finishing positions together at the end of the day. The lowest number is the winner. For example, Say a racer got two 1st places, the racers overall points would be “2”. The lower you overall point the better. If you only race one event you are disqualified from the overall.
In the event of a tie during the downhill race organizers will resort to Photos/video to determine winner.
In the event of a tie during the Giant Slalom Race organizers will resort to the racers second fastest time to determine winner.
In the event of an OVERALL tie: A Gentlemen’s agreement will be made between the racers as to what actions should taken to break the tie.
DICSCLAMER: Race organizers reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone. This race is not the place to prove any points or settle any scores. Please respect the rules of Engagement and BRING IT!!

Anyone who entered the Indian School Race, you are also now members of the SRA.
If you haven't gone to the SRA site (skateboardracingassociation.com), then please go there and fill out a profile. Just go to the "join" page. After filling out the form, at the bottom click the button that says "I Pre-Paid, Just sign me up!!".
After you join, you will get a member number. Then when you enter a race, be sure to put in your member number and then your race results can be linked to your name and all your race results will be accessable with just a click.
Also, I am always looking for feedback on the site, so any questions, comments, complaints, etc... just email 'em to me!

SRA MISSION:
The Skateboard Racing Association (S.R.A.) is a skateboard racing association comprised of an International group of all around professional skateboarders who competitively race skateboards in the following disciplines: SLALOM, GIANT SLALOM, PARK SLALOM, BANKED SLALOM and DOWNHILL.
The S.R.A. will be responsible for holding and sanctioning local races, State Championship races and World and International World Title Races to be recognized as THE CORE Official Skateboard Racing Association - by the Racers for the Racers.
For the past 30 years skateboarders have created a multi-billion dollar industry sending shock waves through the very fabric of American culture. The surge of popularity and impact on today's youth market has been unparalleled to anything in team or modern sports.
Skateboarding's humble beginnings got it's start by zig zagging surf-like turns down the streets of California beach towns, which quickly lead to racing down those streets to see who was the fastest, and Boom! Skateboard Racing was born. In fact, Skateboard Racing is not only one of the sports first forms of competition; it is the purest, and most objective. Since those early days, many people and organizations have twisted and confused the very essence of what it means to race a skateboard. Some have held "races" on flat parking lots, others have set courses that actually put racers in danger by forcing them to "scrub" speed in situations where going faster is safer- and yet others have tried to change the definition of what a skateboard is by adding additional trucks, bearings, wheels and more- just shy of what could be defined as a set of roller blades!
The SRA's main goal and purpose is to protect the very essence of what a skateboard is; 1 board, 2 trucks, and 4 wheels- and to hold true to Skateboard Racing's Core values of that are akin to Alpine Downhill and Slalom Ski Racing- Fast, dangerous, exciting! This sport requires skill, stamina, nerve, raw power, maturity, and guts. Risking injury (or even death) is a reality- On the other hand, so is the need to win. Every racer balances these factors as he stands in the starting gate. Throw in physical skills, mental conditioning, and equipment, and you've got something worth watching and betting on - this is the drama of the racing game the spectators have been waiting to see; the SRA will see this goal through to it's reality.
The S.R.A. houses a dedicated staff of Professional riders and racers with a broad range of services and benefits acting as a liasion to aid and assist riders, racers, promoters and sponsors to work together and to provide simple, and realistic true-to-racer consulting on everything from race venues, course set ups, rules, timing, and overall competition logistics, always with the racer's and spectator's interest in mind.
