For 2004 the Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup event is heading to Paso Robles, CA to
run in conjunction with the World Championships of Skateboard Racing, the largest and most prestigious event of the season! If even some of our plans for
2004's Cup race come to fruition this is what you'll experience:
A huge thanks goes out to Jack Smith for securing a prime venue for this year's Cyber Slalom Cup, the Skate Mor indoor hockey rink located at 2198 Riverside Ave in nearby Paso Robles about 30-miles from Morro Bay. The concrete floor is perfectly flat, smooth, and specially coated to provide grip for wheels. This year's times should blow the doors off of any previous Cup event, and perhaps off any personal-best time you've logged on your home Cyber course since wind, surface, slope, and crown will all be non-issues. Note that there is only space for one course and it will be run in only one direction since there are no directional factors at this venue.
A "two cone" warm-up session will run for 30-mins where only the first two cones of the course will be in place to speed throughput. Please expedite this session to allow everyone to get runs!
The race consists of an open qualifying round of approximately 2-1/2 hours where racers take as many runs as possible with the top-10 racers advancing to the final round. Racers will run in numbered order per the Contest Calendar sign-up.
A short break will separate the qualifier from the final.
In the final round, all qualifying times are discarded and it becomes a 10-man showdown with racers getting approximately 1-hour to get in as many runs as possible.
The targeted start time is 500PM on Friday subject to the Super G's end time. The venue has a snack bar with hot dogs and drinks for those seeking dinner.
You must sign up for this event on the Contest Calendar by Oct 1st! This is not the same sign-up list as the Worlds, and as of this posting only 30 racers are entered.
The prize purse is largest ever in slalom history..
1st: $1150 + $1000 from Radikal Trucks (yow!)
2nd: $690
3rd: $460
