UPDATE: Rye Airfield is giving us free reign of the "pro street" area on Sunday from 9-Noon and we will be holding the "deathrace" portion of the event then. Saturday night will feature the more technical slalom related courses.
Course info detail: The park slalom courses will be just that...Park Slalom. This means you will have to be at least an intermediate park / bank rider to make the courses. You do not have to be able to do grinds, air, ollies, 50/50's etc but you will have to be comfortable negotiating a bank. Slalom racing skills will come into play in terms of picking a fast line and setting up early for cones. There will be two courses around 30 to 35 sec long. One will favor goofey one regular footers. Each will have a winner. Overall winner will have the lowest combined score.
Equipment : Myself(TK) rode a GS slalom set up with hard avalons or cambrias (94a) and tracker Darts 139mm. I consider my self to be a decent park rider but nowhere near the league of a Brad Edwards, Chicken, Wahl, Mollica Type.I am a slalom geek. One of the better pool skaters here rode his stock pool deck with hard wheels and was 3 seconds faster than me. I could never make the course on his set up so... RIDE WHAT YOU ARE COMFORTABLE ON. The course can be made on both style decks.
Death Course... This will be a real deal, balls to the wall death races with vert, slides, grinds and mabey air. I will be watching this one. If you rule the pools this race is for you. This race will be on Sunday at 9am Sharp.
Entry Fee. Rye Airfield just dropped the fee to 10 bucks.BOTH RACES this is less than what you would pay for a regular session.
