Come join Mississippi Grass Roots Slalom and Road Kill Racing for two days of slalom in beautiful Ridgeland, Mississippi sponsored by Ridgeland Parks & Recreation and The Pearl River Valley Water Supply District. The forth annual Luna Slalom Jam will be held on May 5th & 6th of 2006.
ATTENTION! More Changes for Friday Night!
Put away those longer boards and your six wheelers!
On Friday afternoon, May 5th, beginning at 5:00pm we will be running a slight grade of perfect asphalt with close to 70 or 80 cones set at distances from 6 to 7 foot laid out with straights, offsets, curves and step-overs. We will use the start ramp. Cone penalty will be .1 per cone with a possible max cone limit. Hollien will have to run switch... After this it's a party as usual at the Byrd Residents less than one mile away. Lisa and culinary boy genuius Mike Waggner and Byrddogz employee, who resently had an article about himself in the food section of the local paper, will be preparing, Red Beans & Rice, Seafood Gumbo, Crawfish Grits and more good southern food.
Saturday, May 6th is the big day. We plan on getting started at 10:00am with sign-ups. We will have a large parking lot closed off with portable Freshpark ramps for the street skaters to use. We are also going to hold a huge game of SKATE to give the street skaters a part in Luna this year. We should be running the main event around 2:00 in the afternoon. Yes, your right, we will not be running Luna at night this year.
Luna Slalom Jam will be an open class race, everyone welcome, dual lane, start ramps, four beep start with false start detection, tightish hybrid course but doable by our newer racers. We will be running A, B & C classes. Guaranteed prize purse of $600 (300, 200, 100) for the top three in the "A" group, $100 top finisher in the "B" and $50 to the top finisher in the "C" group. The hill is short but sweet. The surface is near perfect except at the end where surfaces transition to slightly rougher area. It starts off flat then drops fast and steep then levels off to a very slight uphill finish. You’ll have to work the pump at the end. This should make for some good racing to the line. Expect Schwag! Our sponsors as always are hooking you up. MSGRS will however decide the order of the schwag hand-out.
On Sunday we plan to have a ditch session at the S-Ditch down the street from Byrddogz.
