The SECOND Gathering: Spring Super Session May 3-5, 2002 THREE DAYS!!! A Slalom Skateboarding Symposium AND the first running of the Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup! (A Killer B Production)
“The Second Gathering” is…
1. A meeting of serious-minded slalom racing skateboarders, beginners and veterans alike, with the common purpose of doing a lot of riding, fostering community within the sport and providing a forum for the presentation, open discussion and consideration of ideas that may be relevant to its’ future form and direction.
2. A three-day event designed to allow each participant an opportunity to experience a variety of racing situations and a chance to showcase his/her own personal ideas on “what a skateboarding slalom course/race should be”.
3. A three-day event secondarily designed to allow the attendees to compete with each other, with nothing on the line other than bragging rights. As designed, “The 2nd Gathering” will try to define the “Best All-Around” slalom racer present on that particular weekend, a disticntion for which there is no official reward. In the process, “The 2nd Gathering” should foster both a strong sense of camaraderie and a strong impetus for further competition amongst the slalom racing community.
4. A weekend event held at a semi-private, controlled-access venue, including rider’s meetings, networking and plenty of slalom riding.
5. An early season opportunity for the slalom community to come together, meet each other face-to-face, see old friends, new friends and even meet each other’s families, in a calm, fun, and relaxed atmosphere.
6. About cooperation.
7. About the future.
8. About FUN!!
“The Gathering” is not…
1. A race, although there'll be PLENTY of racing.
2. Advertised or open to the general viewing public.
3. About prizes, money, product or otherwise.
**** The Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup ****
The Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup is intended to be an annually held, scheduled contesting of the Cyber Slalom Challenge racing format, as described on the Ncdsa.com website, with the inaugural running scheduled for Saturday, May 4, 2002; at The 2nd Gathering: Spring Slalom Super Session in Gaithersburg, Maryland, USA.
The winner of this event will have his/her name and winning time engraved on the actual Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup, a perpetual trophy being created specifically for this special event. Ncdsa.com webmaster, Adam N., will also be creating a new, read-only page on Ncdsa.com, “like a video game score page,” where the top Cyber Slalom Cup times will be displayed, along with the racers’ names and the year in which the times were attained.
According to Andy “GBJ” Bittner, organizer of The 2nd Gathering, the race itself will be run, “very much in the spirit of the Cyber Slalom Challenge on the website.” The racecourse, like its’ online counterpart, will be run in both directions, with an additional rule specifying that the times averaged MUST have been produced in consecutive “clean” runs. Other supplementary guidelines may specify a maximum “turnaround” time between runs, and a possible maximum on the number of attempts that can be made by each racer.
The Ncdsa.com Cyber Slalom Cup itself will be unveiled at The 2nd Gathering, and when not “on the road”, will be prominently displayed at SkateLab Skateboard Park and Museum in Simi Valley, California.

Where: Seneca Creek State Park Cardinal Area Clopper Road Gaithersburg, MD
IMPORTANT! There is a $2 per person per day fee to enter Seneca Creek State Park. Please be prepared to remit this amount to park authorities at the park entrance. It has always been the intention of Killer B Productions to keep The Gatherings completely free, and we tried to negotiate a blanket payment to the park to avoid this gate fee, but to no avail. Your cooperation is appreciated and you have our assurance that this park entry fee is the only fee you will have to pay to attend The 2nd Gathering: Spring Super Session. To keep our venue “rider-safe”, vehicular entry to the Cardinal Area will be restricted and controlled at the single entrance/exit. Again, your patience and cooperation are appreciated.
Additional facilities and recreational activities in the park include barbecue grills, a playground and lavatory facilities, reserved in our area; as well as wildlife and mountain bike paths, a nature center, an 18-hole disc (“frisbee”) golf course, and some very nice hills to cruise. Skateboarding IS permitted in the park, beyond the bounds of our area, within reason and with all due respect given to the Park Rangers, who will have “the last word”.

Please plan to attend The Gathering, rain or shine. The Gathering is, first and foremost, about unifying the creative input and organizational efforts of as many slalom supporters as possible. While this can be accomplished, even if we do no skating at all, you can rest assured every effort will be made to find indoor alternatives, in the case of bad weather.
