Contest Info:	BANKED SLALOM RACE Another Event by Surfrider Foundation-Washington DC Capital Chapter Date: 5/3/02 Friday Night (1st night of the 2nd Gathering) Time: 7-11pm 7-9pm Sign Up & Practice 9pm Racer's Meeting 9-11pm Qualification & Finals Course: Modified Bank Slalom (fastest runs should be just below 19 seconds long each way) Location: Potomac Mills Vans Indoor Skateboard Park Fee: $5 Donation + $10 Park Fee Benefits: Surfrider & ECRW Race Rules: 1. Qualification-Two run total time (clockwise & counter-clockwise runs). Ten fastest skateboarders advance to the finals (no matter what age division they represent). 2. Finals-Two run total time (clockwise & counter-clockwise runs). 3. Start- unlimited foot push & racer starts timer. 4. Cone Penalty- 1 second each. Note, before each run, it is the racer's responsibility that all cones are set (cones are secured w/ duct tape). Cone must remain at least partially in the marked circle. 5. DQ's- Missing a cone. Going off course. Stepping off board with two feet @ one time (no running starts) Not crossing finish line on the board & in control (no dives). Blatant disregard of Vans Skatepark rules. 6. Full Pads Required (rentals available). 7. Vans Skatepark Waiver Required. If under 18, parent must sign at the park or the waiver must be notarized. Volunteer Positions Needed Filled (Not every one is a bank slalomer or park rider but we need volunteers). To volunteer, sign up as a contestant but list yourself as a ''Volunteer'' & list any job preferred. DJ w/ Sound System MC Sign Up Person/Cashier Coneheads (2-3) Cone/Finish Line Judge Time Judges (1 head, 1 calculator, 1 transcriber) Timer Technician Course Marshal for practice & to que racers on deck. Web Page Editor Photographers (List goes to Vans Corp HQ by 4/26 for photo passes). * Volunteers that are inside the skating area of the park must also sign a park waiver. Divisions based on your age @ end of 2002 (12/31/2002): -Minis (8 & under) -Menehunes (9-11) -Boys (12-14) -Juniors (15-17) -Men (18-21) -Sr. Mens (22-24) -Masters (25-29) -Grandmasters (30-39) -Sr. Grandmasters (40 & up) -Girls (14 & under) -Women (15 & up) -Professional -Sr. Professional (no mandatory age)
