September 21st and 22nd, 2002 Albuquerque, NM

We are proud to announce that TimeShip Racing will host a Downhill Skateboard Race on Crest Road #536 above Albuquerque. This technical 1 mile course has 10 turns including 2 hairpins, braking turns, and a fast finish. Racers from around the world and the US are invited to join us for an exciting weekend of fun skating and racing.

Saturday the 21st, after the Skateboard Race there will be a 4.5 mile "Soul Jam" down Sandia Mountain below the race course to Doc Longs' Picnic Area. This fun section will be a good way to cool down and show some soul after a day of racing. Prizes will be awarded for the riders with the "Most Soul" and "Best Board" and we encourage all racers to ride this part of the event.

Albuquerque has dozens of Flood control ditches of ALL sizes. TimeShip Racing will provide Guides and Shuttles to explore some of this amazing terrain. Shuttles will depart at 8:30am on Sunday morning from the Ramada and return around Noon. A second session may be added in the evening for late flight die hards. The Indian School Ditch is up to 3 miles long, a nice downhill grade, rounded transitions and a few stairs, inflow pipes and duck under over passes. Racers who complete 2 or more runs will receive limited edition Sandia Challenge stickers.

The "Bear" is the Waiimea of skateboarding. This Super Ditch has 40 ft. walls and 30 ft. of flat bottom, a downhill grade and speeds near 35 mph across the transition. Longboards have ruled here since 1976! This is the site of the Worlds' Largest Banked Slalom course which has challenged even the most experienced riders. Full pads or leathers and a minimum 48" board are recommended. Racers who complete 2 or more runs from the 'Start Line' will qualify to compete on this course for prize $$$ that afternoon. Timing system provided by Fat City Racing. This Challenge to qualify is open to all comers until September 22nd, 2002.

The Los Altos Skate Park is a 5 minute walk from the Ramada Hotel where most skaters will be staying. This park has a long snake run with a 7 ft. spine, babys arm, vert bowls at the ends, as well as a decent 10 ft. deep Combi Pool. Real vert though not huge. No pads or helmets required, no fees, no hassle. Alcohol IS allowed in the adjacent public park until 10:00 pm. Amazing! There will be an 'Old School' Challenge to the racer who lays down the Longest Grind in the combi pool as of 8:00 pm Sunday night. A special "Vert Dog" prize will be awarded for the longest grind .

You can find more info and pictures at http://www.timeshipracing.com and we look forward to racing down Sandia Mouintain and riding with all of you here in Albuquerque, New Mexico where "Quiver counts."
