Date: Saturday 10/16/02

Location: Vans Skateboard, Park Potomac Mills, VA

Registration: On line or day of event. Please indicate in "Comment" section the event(s) you are entering. If you are going to display items breifly describe your display (ie Pig Boards, 60's to 70's boards, etc.). Volunteers please also register.

ITINERARY:

-> Vintage & Longboard Items Displayed: 10am-11pm
Collectors Will Register with Surfrider Foundation Volunteers & Display Their Collection Indoors but Outside the Park Along the Fence. (Registered Collectors Skate Free All Day!).

-> Longboarders & Vintage Skaters: 10am-11pm
Skateboarders riding longboard skateboards or vintage skateboards will skate at a discounted rate of $5.00 per session.

-> Modified Banked Slalom Race: 7pm-9pm
Any type of board can be used. Contestants will register with Surfrider Foundation Volunteers by donating $5.00 to Surfrider. The contestant will then pay for a discounted sessions ($5.00 for 7-9pm).

-> Flatland Slalom Race: 10am-4pm.
Any slalom board can be used. Cone penalty & DQ to be announced. Cone spacing will be 6’ to 6.5’ on a straight line. The entry fee is free but you have to show a current receipt from a Vans Session to race. Format will be best of three declared runs. In other words, practice as much as you want but to get a time you must declare each run prior to running it. Strategy will play a part of this race.

This event has evolved into a get together for Surfrider, Vintage Skateboard Collectors, Longboarders and Slalomers. We will hand out some trophies for best collection, and first through third place in the banked & flatland slalom. Although, if anyone wants to sponsor the event with stickers, wheels, boards, shirts or any other swag they can contact the Washington DC Surfrider foundation via e-mail.

* As with prior events we have held, sponsor's prizes & banners will be zip tied to the fence for all to see during the entire event.
