Scott Creek Followup
On 4/13/1998 Chris wrote in from ()

Guys,

I just wanted to thank Adam, Dan, Robert, and Randal for coming out to Scott Creek Road yesterday. I had a great time. A big thanks to Adam, Dan, and Randal for bringing extra boards. The ones I had with Independents weren't really suited for the hill. Finally, I want to thank Randal for the quick sliding tutorial, and for selling me some trucks at a good price. If you're ever down in San Diego, look me up we'll get together.

Chris

I don't know Dan. The streets have been drying up pretty quickly lately. Unless it is totally wet, I say go for it. Anyway, Chris said to meet Sun at 2ish if it was raining on Sat. I am down for whatever. The only thing I know is that USA today sucks! See ya Sat or Sun

I don't know how much faith you put in this, but USA Today's
weather predicts rain on Fri ("Mostly cloudy with periods of showers")
and Sat ("cloudy with periods of rains or showers"), but says
Sun ("partly cloudy skies with periods of sunshine") might be the day to
ride... Any thoughts on this guys?

Scott Creek ride
On 4/8/1998 eggman wrote in from ()

Hey there all you Nor Cal skaters. We are getting some people together for a ride Saturday and I highly recommend that you be one of them. It looks like we are going to have a few people there, but a few more is always killer. These meets are a great way to meet new longboarders, trade stories, learn techniques, and have fun. If you want to get more into longboarding, come check it out. I know there are tons of local skaters that check out this page, so get up off your butt and join us for some fun. I, eggman personally guarentee you will have a good time. Ok, c-ya there.

Longboard Meet - Saturday, April 11 1998, 10:30 a.m.
On 4/6/1998 Chris wrote in from ()

Since I'll be up in your neck of the woods next weekend, someone suggested the Scott Creek Road run. Here's the info from a previous post.

The location is Scott Creek Rd just east of 680 in Fremont, CA.

Directions from the East Bay: 880 South to 237 East (left) to 680 North (left). Right on Scott Creek Rd which is a few miles north of 237. Park at the bottom of the hill at the intersection of Scott Creek Rd and Green Valley Rd. Scott Creek Rd is a beautiful, wide and winding road that leads up to new housing construction and model homes. There are no houses on this part of Scott Creek Rd, but there is a gate house at the mid-point of the hill. It's usually unmanned but be cool anyway. Traffic is light but when cars do come (especially from the top), they're usually speeding. Be aware!

As always, bring your safety gear including your HELMET, and Skate In Control. See you there!

If it's raining Saturday, let's shoot for Sunday 2PM as a backup.

SANTA TERESA PARK Longboard Club Ride - Sunday, November 2 at 11:00 AM
On 10/13/1997 Randal wrote in from ()

Come out to Santa Teresa Park for a fun afternoon of riding. This area has several run choices from totally mellow road that meanders thru the picnic grounds, to a moderate run from the top down to the picnic area turn-off, to the long and steep access road all the way to the bottom (have your slide technique down for this - it's way too burly to bomb). Traffic is very light and generally friendly - there's a good vibe to the place. Everyone can find fun here no matter what ability level or kind of equipment you ride. Bring the wife and kids and settle in at the picnic area.
Directions: It's in the far south San Jose area, take 101 south and exit Bernal Road west (near 85 intersection) and head up the hill behind the golf course. Go all the way up to near the top and turn left into the park.

re: Scott Creek Road - Sunday October 5th 10:30AM

I might suggest that people bring brooms. I was
just up there and there's quite a lot of gravel
and dirt on the road from the construction. It
effectively narrows the usable road by about 4
feet on either side.

motorized skateboards. Check it out!!!!!!!
On 6/2/1997 john wrote in from ()

Is there anyone out there that loves to ride
motorized skateboards. I initially started off on regular
manual skateboards, going down fast hills. Now I enjoy my
motorized skateboard, I get more speed, and I dictate where
I want to ride. No more walking up steep hills.

NCDSA Meet - Saturday, April 19, 1997 at Noon
On 3/31/1997 Adam wrote in from ()

Meet in the Refugio Valley Park parking lot (marked by the 'S') across from the Raley's food store. Directions from I-80: Take the Rt 4 exit East but don't get on 4! Instead take the Bayberry Rd split (The map calls it Willow) that's off the cloverleaf and go Right on Bayberry/Willow which takes you back under I-80. Then go Left on Sycamore, and Right on Refugio Valley. The park is immediately on the left. If you screw up and end up on 4 East take the first exit which is Sycamore. Take the first left which is also Sycamore and Refugio Valley Rd will be on your left. (If you find yourself on Palm, turn around! You missed Sycamore's tricky redirect.)

Photographers will be on hand taking pics for this site and for an article in a new longboarding magazine.
