Happy birthday big guy!
July, Hood River. There I am standing on the start ramp, getting ready to race. You were standing right beside me, cheering me on, yelling at me that it was my time!! Well, I guess it wasn't, cause I lost, but I'll NEVER forget that.
Thank you for your guidance & friendship. You da man!!!

The GoG truck on the front of my uber-Pirnack deck worked well. Thanks, Wax and Donald.
Haven't been to a lot of races, but I'll get better. Nice racin' with ya Joe.

Fadell souped up my trucks in Dixie. The next day I was sandbagging and instead of getting the magic 33rd place, I got 30th. SH IT. I worked my way up from 30th to win the B. My son Nick prayed for God to smite my opponents.
So I got God, Frank,Fadell and Donald on my side. Thanks to all three of you and in that order :-)

I had a chance to ride Eddies Pirnack Model last weekend and it is an amazing board. It's hard to believe you can get a board with camber, kicktail, full on spoon concave and an upturned nose all in one but it's all there and it rides like nothing else. The first thing I noticed was the "pop" or "snap" it has. I don't know how to really describe it but the board seems to really "snap" to where you point it quicker than any other board I have skated. It also felt like when you really cranked around a big offset the board wanted to accelerate rather than have the back end slip out. A couple of times I thought for sure I was going to eat s#@! but came out of the turn with more speed!?!? I bet that after a couple of sessions with this board you could really tune into the unique features it has and not want to ride anything else. Kinda of like going from an Indy to a GOG. You just can't go back.

Where the firkin' ale where all of yous guys? We'd even laid on English rain to make you feel like it was a regular Euro race 2008!
Thanks to all those who turned up, despite the frustrating weather predictions that unluckily became real. Especially to those who had travelled a fair distance, such as the Pig City boys and Yorkshire's own David O. Although we didn't get to skate this time, it was great to see the general stoke to what, in warmer times, be an excellent facility and one that should offer an route towards adapting and testing setups for the sloped European events.
Feedback about the facilities was positive, including suggestions for the site to host a monthly UK race series next year for those unable to get abroad. These could be similar to the German GOG and French Pirate races. Informal, fun, but allowing allcomers and maintaining the highest level of competition.
Luger Will mentioned that the hill offered great opportunities for freeriders and that the slope was similar to Cadwell, so that dirty Southerners had somewhere to go that was within a morning's driving distance.
I'll have a word with the Centre Management about the possibility of running a GS in the Spring. Ian, Dave and the team seem a bunch of helpful guys - many of them have seen the Hog Hill vid on Youtube and were keen to see skaters in action. It was great to have them use the electric buggy to tow the lugers and DH boys back up to the race hut. I think we've given them a vehicle cost justification!
Spring GS? It has to be done.
In the dry, please God.
Thanks again to the sponsors who gave us support and excellent product. If we may defer prizes until the next event then we would be most grateful. In the mean time, check 'em out:
Gofast! Delicious energy drinks for speed demons
Pavel Skateboards Slalom, street, ramp and bowl product from Germany's finest
Brixton Cycles These guys can sort you out with a fixie AND new board with knowledge and expertise that high street chains can't provide. A top one-stop shop.
Octane Sport A skater in retail for skaters. Best product, best prices.
