Hello friends and skaters,

Come join Westwood Sports Club and the Gravity Racers Association at

West LA College for exciting slalom and giant slalom skating! We have

our main course on a 10% grade hill (A Street), as well as a gentle

hill for beginners, and a large parking lot for warming up. Skating

is from 10:30 to 2:30. Inline skaters, skateboarders, buttboarders,

and gravity bike riders are all welcome at all events. Helmets and

pads are required.

This Sunday, October 3, we'll have the first race of the Gravity Racers

Association (GRA) 1999 race series. This will be a slalom, with the course

set by Beau Brown. Entry is $20, and there will be some great awards!

On October 17 and 31 we'll have the traditional Westwood Sports Club

slalom skating with hinged ("breakaway") gates and courses set by

Willie and Scott. The cost will be $7 for club members, $10 for

non-members. October 17 is a practice day, and we'll have T shirts

for the first arrivals. October 31 will include the timed championship

race, with goodies like Bones bearings handed out to top finishers and

raffle winners.

November 21 will be the GRA series giant slalom race. Membership will

be required for this race and subsequent races, which will include a

downhill.

Be sure to check out the web page for directions, more details, and

updates. Feel free to contact us with your questions. And please

send us your suggestions, so we can keep improving the program.

Last night 3 of us hooked and hit up the dump road. It was a blast. We skated for several hours and not one car showed up. The hill is .5 mi, 3lanes wide and we reached a top speed of 37mph. We'll be skating again soon.

If anyone wants to join us, e-mail me and we'll hook up.

I know theres choke skaters in Orange County as well as Southern Cali. If anyone is interested in putting together a crew of skaters who meet one to two nights a month. Let me know.... I'm mainly wanting to start it in Orange County, but everyone is welcome... by the way there are over 30 1 to 2 mile hills in south orange county, of which 10 or so are epic...were talking long, steep, wide, fresh, and minimal cars.

Kawika and the other Pearl City / Millilani / country riders. I cant forget the townies cause we got all the hills. I've been gone only 2 months, home sick allready but many new hills here on the mainland. Seattle, San Diego (where Ive been living) L.A. (Mullhulland, GLENDORA MOUNTAIN ROAD SICK VERY SICK)Speed Board Race in Mammoth, (qualified for Gravity Games in Rhode Is. Sept. 4) S.F. and Berkely where I am now. Yesterday did some hills in Oakland and Berk. with Cliff Coleman ( ALMOST 50 SK8S LIKE HES 20) and his friend Noel. Ever heard of 8 wheel slides? He goes fast (real fast / long slides on roller sk8s) impresive. Cliffs slides you have to see to believe. The first slide he did was about 100 ft. long (no shit) 180 held it through the corner, pulled it back around -kept going- lost very little speed, nuff said. So anyways it's been a blast, but theres no place like home. See you guys in a few months and next time you bomb past the H.P.D. wave for me.

Hi
One of the first things I want to do when arriving in London in a few weeks is to set up a English longboard club where we can car pool and visit different spots and spread the word etc. Also will be a good place to try out the different equipment floating around.
Email if interested. If the new addy fails then use richardj@netspace.net.au
