With all the talk about the G.R.A.S.S. name we probably could have gotten something else accomplished. I think grass roots is descriptive.
I think it we focus on the cross training market of snowboarding we might be able to tap into a larger market.
We could call it Snowboard Summer Training SST.
I think the number of snowboarders who would be into this exceed the number of skateboarders. Rollerblade called Inline skating "Ice Hockey summer Cross training" at first...to lure the Ice hockey market. Now Inline is a bigger market than Ice skating.

Stevem and I will be heading over to Ramp-Rail-Roll skatepark in Mundelein from my place at 3:15pm or so today, 2/16/02. I have to take my oldest by Libertyville Highschool at 3:30, then we'll be there about 3:45 or so.
Call me at (847)903-3452 if you need add'l information. Also, if you want to run some cones down my street prior to heading out, let me know that, too. It's starting to dry out!
Ramp-Rail-Roll is in Mundelein. Take the tri-state tollway north to Townline road (Il 60) go West/Right to Butterfield Road (which is past Milwaukee Ave/IL 21 and past Hawthorne Mall). Turn North/Right on Butterfield until you see a "CarStar Collision Center) on the corner of Butterfield and Campus Drive. Turn Left/West on Campus Drive, you'll see RRR down a little ways on the left, like the 2nd or 3rd drive.
Hope to see you then!

PsyChOLoYd...Thanks for the info. We are going to make that contact. Jeff Goad, Brandon Mason and I are piecing this project togteher with the hopes of building on this event each year so we will have a really good event to look forward to. Last year, Brandon put the Gateway Classic, as he calls it , together on his own, with outside support from WFSA, and it was a modest success. This year, as a pilot project, we will add slalom and 360 to the flatland event and a few live local bands. This should be a great youth advocate project that we are hoping will attract the active support of the community, civic leaders, and other advocate org's. Besides the Gateway Classic in St. Louis, I would like to see two or three other annual Triple Crown events established in the US....on the West Coast as the revived Oceanside contest, then possibly in the Rocky Mountain area, (Boulder) as the Lynn Cooper Classic ( June 14th), and on the East Coast in conjunction with FCCI. I intend to expand this concept globally along with developing WFSA's freestyle activities so that there are a few annual Triple Crown events in Europe, and in the other countries that also have GRS chapters or simular interests.
So, if there are any interested GRS chapters near those locations that would like to assist on the slalom aspect of this concept, please let me know.

Wow! I've been so busy trying to hammer out a skatepark design and contacting contractors for the concept that I missed out on most of what's goin on out here.
Still in denial about the demise of my Ick...
steelwheelBob: Contact Glen Stalling of Altered Skates, the phone number is (314) 726-1370. He might be able to give you a hand. Let him know I sent you... and tell him I want my Firestone Ramp back!
C-Money: I know which cones of yours that I have because they have this little dot of white paint on them where you marked your street on them, hehehe.
We do need stickers though and the ConeMan graphic is Copyrighted but only to protect the guilty.

Greetings, I would like local GRS, or as local as possible assistance for an event on Labor Day weekend. WFSA will have it's second annual Gateway Classic in St. Louis, as the Mid West Regional AM Championship. WFSA will stage this as a Triple Crown event wilh flatland freestyle, slalom, 360's, and back by popular demand...high jump. Let me know if you are interested.

No, this is my secretary's husband-I'd love for you to get something done with whomever in the Hoosier state, I was just trying to come up with a plan that didn't require our fearless non-leader's involvement. I don't know why I got protective all of a sudden, maybe because I'm trying to help him through the grieving process over the demise of his ICK. He's still in Denial, I think. . .
I've got 2 folks already mailing me stickers, so my selfish agenda is complete-but I'll be happy to organize stickers, and just as happy to let someone else!
