if you dont know how to slide, and you aren't going too fast jump off and run, if you are going too fast to run, then learn to slide. if you must fall try finding something soft like a lawn

Did anyone see Tony Hawk rip it last night in San FRan. He pulled off a
900 in a suspense filled climax. Tony is on top of the world.
This trick took him 9 years to pull off.

gabe...2 trucks on the back. Keep the 1st back truck on a slightly smaller riser then the very back truck. This way it will only touch the ground when you turn. It's twice the grip/friction, but only when you need it. Payaso makes a board called the flying spear that uses that same set-up and it rules. I got mine from skatecraft but i think the phone number is 1-888-slo-town if you wanna get one

RE: Not Sliding
Try some 8 Balls by "Extreme Wheels" (who make the all terain wheels). They DO NOT slide. But hey are slow due to their high friction. Big fun carvin on on steep hills!

I was wondering if anyone knows a trick to keep the back end of your board from sliding out when carving hard and fast or when going fast around corners? I have soft 70mm Kryptos and my board still slides. Is there a speacial way to turn or something?
Peace

Steve thanks for the Idea , ill take it into consideration if I was the first one to do it, and if people start to use it. I need some good sliders out there to try it too, see if it is practical because like I said , I have only pulled this off on smoothish concrete , not asphault yet. A few times I went over the high side. Also I am new to downhilling so you should be able to pick this up quicker than me. One good thing I have found about this slide is that it is usually easy to point it back downhill and stand back up without completly stopping. Thats the problem I have withColeman slides, I can do them but when I do I pretty much have to come to a stop, and usually have a hard time getting back up. Because I am new to this stuff to , I havent done it going really fast because I don't go really fast. No my name is not Bohemebvleck, it is Station. No my name is not really station either, but that is my complete internet nickname. PEOPLE TRY THIS TELL ME HOW IT WORKS.

Your name is bohemebvleck? If you really are the first person to do it (not that I think you're lying, it's just that somebody way back in the day may have done it) you should call it the "Bohemian Slide." Sound good?

I think I may have invented a slide, atleast I have never seen anyone do anthing like it. You have to wear knee pads, and depending on how you can or like to do it a glove like one used for a coleman slide for your trailing hand. you do it frontside(oldschool). You do a pretty hard frontside turn and you have to be leaning hard, and you keep on lowering your back knee untill your knee pad scruns the ground. Instantly the back wheels break loose ,and well if you know how to do slides you know what to do from there. The reason you might want a glove is first of all you might need it, Also whenever you do it right you can extend your arm out and skim the concrete with your hand and make it look really styllish. I am a beginner, and so far I have only done this on fairly smooth surfaces, so experts,I'd appreciate it ,if you try it, tell me how it works for you, and give me some hints for a good name for it.

I've had a Sector9 Cloud9 with 61mm 9ball wheels for about 3 weeks and one rear wheel has lost a huge chunk. I spoke to someone else who has had a similar problem. The wheel hasn't been cut by glass or nails or anything, but i've been doing ollies and a few low jumps off steps etc. Is this a common problem with these wheels or is it just the roads here in England?

HEY HEY HEY!
MY FRIEND RUSSELL AND I INVENTED A SPORT THAT USES A LONGBOARD! WE TOOK A LAWNCHAIR AND SCREWED IT INTO A 57" ENVY BOARD, WE CALL IT LAWNCHAIRING. ONE GUY STANDS ON THE TAIL AND PUSHES WHILE 1 GUY KICKS BACK IN THE CHAIR, YOU CAN GO ABOUT 35-40 MPH DOING THIS WITHOUT DA WOBBLES! IT SOUNDS REALLY CORNY BUT I RECCOMEND YOU GIVE IT A TRY!

Emergency breaking / Falling techniques

okay, yesterday I was happily rolling along in beautiful Amsterdam, when something happened that has happened to me
before, and I think it'll happen again because Amsterdam is beautiful for skating, but a little crowded.
I was going down a bridge and gaining a nice speed, when some couple stepped off the sidewalk without looking, just
a couple of meters ahead of me.
I couldn't pass in front of them, because the guy was already too far on the road, and I didn't want to pass behind
the girl, because I'd let out a yell, so the couple noticed me, and most people take a step backwards in that
situation.
I avoided a crash by slowing down by taking a few braking steps, and lucky enough for me, I could pass between them.

But my questions are these:
How to do an emergency break while standing up? (I always stand on the nose too, my front foot on my front truck.)
or, if crashing in to a person is unavoidable,
How to crash into a person in a manner that causes you as little hurt as possible? (I couldn't care less about how
hurt one of those stupid assholes that just step onto the road without looking is gonna be, though.)

A powerslide wouldn't have been possible, because I was riding close to the sidewalk. Besides that, I can't do them.
Any suggestions?

Thanks & Ride forever,

Ali "skooby"

Hay everyone I bought sector 9's video Red 9 for $25 and it turned out to be all short board stuff. There was only a few minutes of longboarding and the rest was shortboarding and surfing. I e-mailed a complaint to them and now they are sending me their first movie Rolling for free! So if ya gonna buy a sector 9 vid then make sure you dont get red 9. I was told that rolling had a all longboarding. CYA

Yep, tightening the big nut on your trucks will cure the wobbles. Either a long board or a luge it works.

Hey BoardWildMan! Look for pages that shows you how to slide. When you master the Coleman-slide, you can start with the Power-slide. But i would learn to carve first!
If you got wheels that are soft, it may be a little bit difficult to slide, but it is possible.

Hey BoardWildMan

First tighten the kingpin bolt on the trucks. I did a rough conversion and your friend was only going about 30-35 mph. You shouldn't get the wobbles at this SLOW speed. I've had the wobbles at 65 mph (converts to 95 km/h or so)

The above advice is good only when you've survived your scary run. When you are on the board (and soiling your leathers-and you should be wearing leathers) There are several things you can do. If you're alone just turn to your left or right and this should correct your problem. Don't turn too much, stay in your lane, but a little zig zag goes a long way. If you're in a pack of riders, just put your feet down and slow down. To hell with winning just get down the hill safely as possible.

The kingpin tightening trick worked for me. I got the wobbles at 30 mph one time. I tightened the trucks up and the next run was a comfortable 55 mph (75 km/h).

Good luck

Keith

Powerhouse "54" DelMar
This is the board I have, it rocks like he£@ in steep hills and when bombin' streets.
I have a really big problem, i love this board, I love longboards, but... I have tried and tried for 4 days now doin' slides and carves, it always ends up with me eatin' dirt in the ditches.
I want a couple of advices and solving of the carve and slides.

This is the 5. day i have the board, this is the 5. day i have EVER had a board, and hell, IT'S FU£&NG INSANE, one of my friends luged down a hill in 51.5 km/h and he, for the first time experienced speed wobbles.
the hole damn thing ended up with him falling of the board and slide down 10 meters on his back.
It looks like OUCH.
The question is : How do you stop speed wobbles when luging ???

Keep carvin'n slidin'
