If your wheels are bitin check out the bareback stylee. They have cutout that you can cut some more and then your bitin days are over bro.

My old wheels are getting huge wheel bite from the carving that ive been doing, and i was wondering (besides rotating them) what can i do to my wheels to lenghten their life, or should i just get some new wheels?

Lindsay... use the foot that is most comfortable for you...and don't worry about practicing in front of other people...if they give you shit it's cause they don't skate (or if they do it's cause they're assholes)...just do what feels natural...and find some other people to ride with...you learn a lot from riding with friends...watch videos and read skate magazines...I learn best by watching other people...so just do what comes natural...good luck...hope I helped.

Is it important to learn to push both sides? Or are most people one-side pushers?
I find the left foot sooo tricky, I have to admit, I'm reluctant to practice unless I find somewhere REALLY private...ok, I'm self concious!

the only thing to do is practice, remember when you first pumped with your regular foot? that probaly wasn't to smooth either.

Camera techniques are many and varied. I use a .5 wide angle lens and zoom it back a ways to be sure to capture all the action. I also use an inverted flash holder that looks like an L bracket that I mount to the video camera and then I can skate along side and rotate my wrist to follow the action. A deck mounted camera will look a bit like a monkey cam. There is a good example of how it looks on Magic Rolling Board in 5 Summer stories, for a bad example mount one to your deck and watch your video, take motion sickness medication first. There are other things available like the steady cam for small video cameras. The Glidecam, Steadycam Jr. and steady tracker are some options also. www.steadicam.com www.glidecam.com www.steadytracker.com

i ride a flexdex (ks40), and when i'm bombing a hill i tend to slide intentionally...just a reminder to you all, wear a brain bucket!! but other than that go into a wash where it has two sides, go up on each edge and coleman til you have to stop!

May have some footage soon, I'm gonna try to actually follow through on my Thanksgiving Flu delerium idea,I'm gonna mount my cam-corder of the back of my Stroker board(pointing forwards) the prespective will be unique to say the least,I'm posting just to increace the chances of my following through. My computor literate friend Mikey says he could post clips if I get em.

In case anyone is interested...
I added the Sweeper, performed on a longboard, to my tricktips page. The 50/50 Grind and the fakie 360 are also performed on longboards.

Brian:
Check the archives under "Riding Techniques" for sliding instructions. It will apply to your long board, but it is harder to slide a long board than a shorter one.
Good Luck, Cliff

Hey Cliff, I ride a 48" board, with alot of flex and camber, do you have any suggestions to help me slide it. I am having lots of trouble swinging the board into the perpendicular slide position.

Jack,
When I first started sliding I just did stand-up slides. Then in the early 1970s a group of my friends and I started putting plastic on our gloves and we began doing crouching slides. There is a variety of different slides, both standing and crouching all with different names. The Coleman slide was named after me by Randle. There is also a one handed crouching slide switch stance called a "Cliff Slide". As with any invention, it is almost impossible to say who was the first to do it. Most people who get the credit are the ones who introduce the technique to the public first and then get the notoriety. By the way, thanks Randle for naming the slide after me.

I would like some opinions on how fast a person can go and slide. I have heard people say it is not possible to slide over 20mph. Not true. Me and my friends have done it at over 30mph. Anyone do it any faster? Peace Gabe

Try some Randles on the shortboard, they probabely won't stick out to much (I doubt you got a micro-narrow new school tech board)and it would be interesting to hear about the results.

I got a new shortboard today I put some larger risers on it then I put on some kryptonics 70 mm wheels. It is awesome. I havent gotten to ride much because it is raining at my house. I did go bomb a few hills and the wobbles were not too bad.

Lindsay I surf in Emerald Isle, North Carolina..... it almost always suck here, but i get in all i can on good days. i go to Cape Hatteras a lot, and i live near there. the waves there are for the most part good, and always rideable. (almost)i like your stopping technique.. it sounds really simple, so i can probably do it.. but im still working on doing slides, and am getting a little better every day.
