Some more facts(?):Half and Mids were available during the mid 80's with plastic hangers along w/ plastic bases. There have been 2 pivot sizes, original 3/8",and "gnarly" 1/2".
Copers were avail. for:Six,Ex,Ful,and Mids,NO Halfs.
Bushings(inner and outer):Soft(blue),Medium(red/stock),Hard(white).A n outer Extra-hard(clear) was also available.
Plastics:Lappers(I loved the hand-drawn instructions), "Space-Pads" in 5/16" and 9/16","Wedge-Pads"(I forget dimensions),"Shock-Pads"1/8" rubber, and "Base-Grip" 1/8" foam.
Another thing I am unsure about are the "Stimulator" bushings that were another inner bushing. Anybody know what made them "stimulating" ?

Turns out that what I thought were extracks are actually sxtracks (according to the bottoms of the hangers) and they do indeed have a six inch hanger and a 9 inch axel... I don't have a set of full tracks to measure however... good luck, HR

Tracker Trucks
On 5/18/2000 Jonas wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

I just recieved an order from East Coast Skates of what were supposed to be Tracker Half-Tracks.What I received were what I beleive to be Mid-Tracks and was hoping for some verification. The following is my understanding, please correct me if I am wrong!!
Half-Track:5+1/8" axle,2+5/8" hanger
Mid-Track:6+1/4" axle,3+3/8" hanger
Full-Track:6+3/4" axle,3+3/4" hanger
Ex-Track:8" axle,5" hanger
Six-Track:9" axle,6" hanger

If I am correct,be aware of that you will get Mids if you ask for Halfs.

Now that is what I call a birthday present. I'll say that you married well. Don't get me wrong, my wife is a great gal, but she just doesn't quite understand this whole skateboard thing. She thinks I am crazy for what I am doing. On a regular basis one of her friends will call her to let her know that some guy who "looks just like hugh" was flying down their street... oh well...

She gives more pratical gifts, night scopes, gps receiver, that sort of thing... which are very nice, but they don't carve worth a hoot!!! HR

Hobie Flex Slalom

My dear, sweet wife bought the Hobie that David Kirk had posted up for sale,as a birthday gift to me(Boy,did I ever marry well!).It came a few days late, but is SO worth the extra few days wait(what's a few days as compared to wanting one for 20+ years).Yesterday,I put some original Fulltracks, and 78A,65mm Krypto/Satalite wheels on it and took it out for a run. It's so smooth, and just flows from arc to arc.I have to say that this one sweet ride!I'm going to switch up the wheels to my C-70 Kryptos so that it's all pre-'80 tech. Yup,my wife is one righteous babe! ;)

Strokers
On 5/11/2000 Michael Stride wrote in from (147.197.nnn.nnn)

Just dug out my Strokers from the garage. I paid 5 dollars for them in Londons Brixton Market, just as the first wave of the craze died. Am I right in thinking they all came with a non-standard hole pattern? I didnt fit them to my Turner, only a Santa Cruz. From my experiance they rattled a lot but generally pshyched out opponents!

Strokers again
On 5/10/2000 Herbn wrote in from (207.198.nnn.nnn)

Is that Hester missing it's fiberglass? I have this image of this Stroker ad, one of the only real ads, with an actual picture, instead of drawings, that page is long gone from my magazine collection, most of the mags are missing the covers ,some a couple of layers in,anyway the ad had a guy at a starting gate ready to explode ,the trucks were definitely prototype ,real links ect. The question is who was the rider, I'm guessing Tommy Ryan.Ever see his who's hot?with the circle of Turners ,worth fifteen grand in Ebay millenium dollars.

Skuda original
On 5/6/2000 Rich wrote in from (212.250.nnn.nnn)

There is a lot on skuda boards in the archives, there were even some pictures posted of the boards. They arrived in the 70's not the sixties (74 I think) available in Europe not the states and went through various phases from the fibre based metal reinforced original through polycarbonate to solid wood and eventualy ply. They used their own trucks and wheels to start with and then used Lazer trucks later. Those original ones were virtualy indestructable but they hurt like hell when they hit you !

Skuda Original 1960`s with no tail!
On 5/6/2000 Jens wrote in from (195.204.nnn.nnn)

Many times i`ve been trying to post something about this board, but it seems to me like nobody has ever seen it. Last night i couldn`t wait much longer. So I screw some new holes into my non used Skuda board.

(It`s flat, red, it`s written Skuda with big letters on the top,it`s very small, it has no tail!)

Vex cave
On 5/4/2000 Herbn wrote in from (207.198.nnn.nnn)

If you look at the bottom of a freshly slid World Industries board from not to long ago(I'm not sure about the new stiff glue molds)they wear more in two spots and the very center avoids scraping for a little while, meaning it bends up.Check it,Rocco/World came out of Vision, and they must have liked that feature, though they did make it very subtle.

P-s Rider,That year should be correct as I have a Thrasher 8/88 full page ad on p. 115 saying "Available soon on select pro-decks." What model do you have? Does anybody remember the "Fwa-bam" ad by Schmitt Stix? "Give yerself a BIG kick in the nose!!"

Vision Vex
On 5/4/2000 Pre-School Rider wrote in from (209.198.nnn.nnn)

Jonas,I've got one, still ride it often, especially on ramps/pools.I think I got it in '89,but I'm not sure.I'd love to confirm the year, but my Thrasher collection is long gone.As to the feel underfoot,it's quite grippy under the toe/heel of the front foot, which makes Smith grinds,rock+rolls,one/two wheelers, and various manual variations really easy to do.It's got a BIG tail, and mine has kept it's "pop" in ollies quite well over the years.Unfortunately, the nose is rather small, but that's the norm for that vintage of stick. This was a solid, tough, heavy board, but a really good pool/gutter axe.I've kept either Indys or Ranallis on it,as the wheel base is too long for Sixtracs, and ran 60mm Krypto Pro 2,or 63mm Alva Hardcores on it.If you got a line on one, scoop it up,it's pretty good for an Old School deck.

Vision Vex-cave
On 5/4/2000 Jonas wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

Who knows what models and years these were made, and how they felt underfoot?Looked like a nice concept for a time when decks were getting way-concave. For those that don't remember the vex-cave was convex in the middle and concave near the edges.

c.1970 I started sneaking it out when no one was looking.
c.1975 one WEBER Camber-flex Performer with Tracker trucks & Stoker wheels came into Big Dawn Surf Shop, Old Orchard Beach, Maine. Ahhhhh...! Currently building new slalom board...geesh those little hard wheels that are so popular suck? MAX

Your old mags are worth a lot more than a longboard. If they are in good shape, you can easily get $20-$50 each for them on e-bay. I know, I did it. There's lots of collectors out there.
