Very impressive. Thanks for posting it! I have a set of Mattel Magnums but had never seen the wheels or the complete deck, let alone that cool Mattel Magnum skate key. I wonder how many of those are still around.. one?!

Big Red

I bought a "Big Red" skateboard at a thrift store today ($2.98). Anyone remember this thing? Its narrow trucks (much like an old Bahne I have, bought at the same thrift store, also $2.98) attach directly to the molded plastic board...kingpin screws into nut inset in bottom of board, no base plate. "Big Red" is molded into the top across its full length. There is no visible company or manufacturer name. It seems a really cool cruiser type board, no kick tail but a little concavity across its approx. 24" length. Wheels have no visible brand/manufacturer name, either, but are polyurethane. Thanks for any info...peace.

HI! I'm sure about one thing, your boards are from the 70'.I have the same blue board, it's a classic one, low quality.the other one is very interesting, I never see this kind of board.there where some boards during the 70' like this one, I have one, a French ROLLET, made in LEXAN I think. by the way, I don't think they have many value. don't sell it, keep it!here's my blue fish: [img:2d2vh09k]http://i40.photobucket. com/albums/e231/valensole/trioplastique.jpg[/ img:2d2vh09k]the two other boards are a French BERKAT and an Italian CMV (the green one)And here's my ROLLET:[img:2d2vh09k]http://i40.photobuck et.com/albums/e231/valensole/DSCF0692.jpg [/img:2d2vh09k][img:2d2vh09k]http://i40.p hotobucket.com/albums/e231/valensole/DSCF0693 .jpg[/img:2d2vh09k]

whaouuuu!!! awesome big LACADUR! beautiful model, certainly end of the 70'. Am I wrong?and probably the only LACADUR in AUSTRALIA....beautiful litle NEWPORTER slalom deck to. For the trucks, you can put whatever you want, if it's from the 70', like your board, and not to wide. So, ACS430 or TRACKER Half track could be perfect, but you can put on it BERNARD, CALIFORNIA SLALOM, and of course, short NEWPORTER if you can find some. Mine are wide and big, probably made for a big deck.

Hi kvince!you're welcome! content de voir un Fran+ºais sur le forum!About the NEWPORT slalom deck, isn't it in fact a NEWPORTER? American decks from the 70', low cost decks I remember. I have a pair of N.O.S NEWPORTER trucks, but they are set up with a G&S team rider!what about LACADUR? is there anybody here ever heard about those magic french boards, trucks and wheels? I'm still looking for the LACADUR slalom deck....If someone get an idea...For the moment, here's my LACADUR, set up with LACADUR trucks and AMPUL wheels.P.S: I'm from Marseille![img:15846ubl]http://i40.photob ucket.com/albums/e231/valensole/DSCF1732. jpg[/img:15846ubl]

Hello all,I just found this forum on Google while searching for info on this skateboard I have.It has a transparent plastic (acrylic/lexan? not sure) Crysta 24 deck like this one: http://tinypic.com/fm5nnn.jpg. The wheels are not clay, maybe urethane or some other rubbery material. Can anyone tell me about the brand? How did acrylic decks come to be? They are soft and not really an ideal material for skateboards, I don't think. Was acrylic ever popular? They sure look cool in any case. How much are they worth? Are they from the 1970s?Thanks!

David,I read that storage of those Gullwing on the grill is a violation of the skateboard truck act of 1979. Seems the only way for you to be forgiven for this offense is to send these trucks to me for proper disposal. Doing this will put you back to 'favorable' status with the skate gods. Please feel free to email me for proper disposal instructions.

Does anyone have or know of anyone with a clean set of KJELL 182 Slalom Trucks which came as standard equipment on the Blizzard Slalom Decks which were mainly sold through J.C. Penney? I need a set for my Blizzard (made in Austria) Slalom deck. I also have a Blizzard FreeStyle Deck [b:2t9fkbqg]with[/b:2t9fkbqg] the issued KJELL 140 FreeStyle Trucks. If anyone can help me out it would be appreciated. Only seen one set and they were with the deck that some person in Hawaii was selling other that that I have never seen a set period. Hope to hear from someone-Dennis (darkhorse2 51@verizon.net)

Hi,Yes I remember them well...my much loved & ridden Alley Cat skateboard that my younger brother sold to some kid down the street after I'd left home !!! Never forgive him for that ..lol.Ive been looking for a replacement for the last 25 years.....during this time I've seen 2.....first about 5 years back was just the deck on its own & it was well abused, scraped & knackered...then a complete board came up last year...which I am now the proud owner of. Complete & in really great condition considering its over 30 years old now....all original parts except the deck has been 'customised' with a green & white paint job down the stripes - dont have the heart to strip it off so its as was (looks ok actually).I'm a 45 year old man & took it straight out to my local park as soon as I got it - havent had that much fun since I was 14....absolutely beaming wide smile...talk about recapturing you youth lol !!!!Spec wise it was a black moulded polypropylene deck with a criss cross type pattern which made for superb grip between board & shoe. Logo in moulded circle on top of deck reads 'Alley Cat - Made in England'.Underneath is a set off no-name trucks & a set of those fantastic yellow Alley Cat Wheels that stick like glue to the pavement. If you'd like to see some pics I can take them & put on me facebook site which you'd be welcome to check out.Don't know if I could be tempted to part with it but hope you found this interesting and good luck with your hunt. All the bestDave W
