----------------------------------------Here's the 'skinny' on the Kratka Ridge track:

I hope to be recieveing a call in roughly two weeks that explains whether or not the track is going to be torn down. After getting off the phone with Chuck, this is the stance in position: If the track is going to be available, any event would be run like a 'really busy day', but all control goes to them folks of ACR. I have had the insurance forms ready for months, and can send them in at a moments notice if the event has a chance.

The format, two day. Anyone who wants to use the lift pays the fee ( currently 15$ per day full day use). On top of that, entry members pay roughly 14$ insurance dues for the entire weekend. Prizes would have to be gathered now, but with no expectations that an event would go through. This allows for family and spectators to use the lifts, it will not be controlled by the event/competition and brings in more for the track to stay open.

If you would like to get up to Kratka before it closes, check HERE for maps/directions. Currently the mountain is under snow, however. If you do go, try to get someone to have the lift going. You will be able to get the most time out of the track if the lift is going. Definitely worth the 15$ per person if you get to ride the track so many times, it's a blast.

Really what it comes down to is if the track is going to be torn down or not. Hopefully I will know in a couple of weeks, and be able to set something up.

So, go up to ride the ACR Snowcrest, Kratka Ridge, and Mt. Waterman. If you want to have family member go up for a scenic hike, Mt. Waterman IS actually the best place I can think of in the Angeles Crest forest area.

Copy that link and any part of this message to other message boards if you wish. This is not the only place that may have interested people. The more people interested in that track, the more likely it will stay open. Also, tell mountain bikers about the track, BMX'ers and anyone else interested.

Two weeks, in two weeks I should be getting the information of this track living or dying out.

That's the facts I got from this morning. Now the only thing keeping it alive is THE RIDERS AND PEOPLE. Yeah, it's advertising...

Here goes:

I find out who advertises the most for them: If the track stays open, and this event goes off: The person that I FIND that advertises this place the most, gets the most people interested, gets the most people calling and talking to ACR to keep this track, gets the most vidoe, journalistic, or other such media coverage on this track...

I'll see who does the most, and get a FREE Off Road Skateboard out to the person who does the most. Bring that place back to life, and you get rewarded... at my expense. That's how I can tell you how awesome that track is.

Please do help. If you're on message boards all day, or stuck on the computer, it would be the best thing to keep that track alive.

Seriously, post on bike/BMX/Mountain-bike message boards, tell people in guest books, let people know this place exists. I have been there, it is the best four wide track I know about anywhere.

else...
Something to consider;

I hear people saying how great that track is, and how they would love to ride it again. I am just Matt, not a pro rider, not a big time name. In two roughly two weeks, that track is going to have its fate sealed. It would be appreciated if this topic were tacked to the top, and if Pro class riders would voice their input. I have been trying to get this done by myself to leave work out for other people, but can not do this myself. To keep this world class track, this meaasge really does need to reach a lot of people and media in the next two weeks. ACR needs to be CALLED and expressed as how their keeping this track, is going to benefit them. They are loosing money just "having" it there, and it will be flattened out. Please do re-post this message everywhere you can get it to. I do not know of all the message boards and places in which are out there.

Thanks to ATBMAG for spreading the word, big thanks.

Seriously, if you have ever ridden Kratka, you know what it's about. This track is like no other anywhere in the world. If you want to ride it, again or for the first time, please do call in, and also relay this message to any and all you can.

Thanks again,

-Unit M

Awesome! This board supports HTML Tags so < img src=http://www.domain.ext/subfolder/imagename.ext > without spaces before and after the "><"s and replace address.

I think that a past issue of then-ORB (now Mountainboarding Magazine) had an article on stretching. Email Brian Bishop at mtbmagazine@aol.com

Sonny,

I have set up a 60" board with XT wheels, indy 215s and a windsurfing rig. I have some pictures and information on my web site.
http://www.geocities.com/dpkumph/Skateboarding.htm
go to the wind powered skateboarding page. I plan to add to the wind powered page this spring. The setup worked great, easy to sail, lots of fun...just harder wipe outs.

I was at Kratka Last weekend. Small snow patches kept the track slow. There was a good spot for a 15 ft drop coming off one of the berms.

Check this link for Southern California area ride spots for dirtboards.

http://www.xboards.com/maps/maps.html

There are a couple LA area spots listed. There are more local terrains, just none listed as being ridden by any 'Xboards' riders.

BJ - Before the summer ends???? We're halfway through the winter!
Check out the dirtboardx.com board there's a guy named Frank C you need to get in contact wtih

Shredder, you want to mount your bindings equally distant away from the ends of your board. I have an old but very informative binding mount guide - and I don't have a scanner. If you want to pay for shipping I will copy all the information I have and send it to you via snail mail. Otherwise I can try my best to put the diagrams into words.

I bought an used BHI ATB, unfortunately without bindings. Does anyone of you experts know where on the board to mount the bindings for best performance? I want to use the board for freeriding and maybe a bit of freestyle.
Thanks for your help...

Yeah
I forget how I came across the site but I am glad that I did
I support both mountainboardz and mountainboardshop because I'm affiliates with them through a link program on my website. If you want to give me 10% i'll be glad to support you. Actually i have a few problems on your site i'll email you about.
My grab handle is actually a little different from Dillions. His actually includes the post (aluminum, instead of rubber, with a hole for the bolt) while mine uses the stock binding post.
if you go to my website you can look at a few MSpaint pictures and I think i have some more somewhere on my computer.

Did you find out about them on my website??
I sent meeko one quite awile back; i havent asked if he's actually using it

As for new MBS pictures, I heard there is some sort of top-secret 2003 picture page on the mbs.com site. I guess im not cool enough to get the link sent to me though.

Dang Sam, you're everywhere! (cool that you're so involved) If only someone was supporting Xboards as much as MT BDZ. Your grab handle looks like the same one Dillon has been using. You use the same design? I haven't seen Meeko use one before, but looks like you sent him one?

Those of you looking at the KHEO, also look into a BioHazard Industries.

I have never seen or ridden a KHEO but I have talked to several people that own them. I have heard great things about the AIR-S. I would visit http://www.atbsports.co.uk/ and post the same question in their messageboard. They will know more about European boards than I do.

I have no idea. It is basically an imitation of a board introduced 3 years ago - the MBS Grasshopper

If the board is the exact same quality (which it might be) than I would not reccomend it because there are lots better boards out there. I dont see anything which would make me belive it to be a better board.

Striped grip tape... ewww
The deck is laminated maple, no fiberglass/carbon fiber etc...
The trucks look like they are steel(Steel=Heavy)
They only have One spring position
It doesn't say if there are more than one urethane dampener availible, which leads me to believe that there isnt.

MTB: Mountainbike or Mountainboard??

Down and Dirty is pretty much the sickest video - it was flmed two years ago and came out a year ago. Down & Dirty 2 should be out in a few months. Start off with this one. Brian (Strict9) Reuses some footage from NWD along with some other stuff shot for it but never used.

Mountainboard Video Magazine is also very cool. The latest video has some really good riding, from the Nationals and several east coast events. Check into it .

Mountainbiking, what type of mountainbiking are you into?? New World Disorder 2: Fat Tire Fury is pretty sick, a step above NWD for sure, and watching Hell Track is almost worth the price of the whole video. NWD 3 is out, but I don't think it's as good as the second. be careful because that unicycling Trials rider Kris Holm shows up in every video. - he gets annoying

the Kranked series is pretty good & the latest one, #4 Search For The Holey Trail is awesome.

Anything else, just reply. Glad I can be of help!
