We have been given the go ahead for the second Slalom Titles for Bangalow (nth NSW) in may 2005. This years event we had about 30 skaters on about two weeks notice so with this much time and notice for everyone we should be able to hold a real quality event. This year we had time trials on a giant slalom course with about 25 cones and then the top 8 we held 4 man elimination races. Steve Daddow winning the time trial event and Adam Yates taking out the elimination race. Will keep everyone posted on the exact date as soon as we hear. Start training the copetition should be a good standard. Cheers Call me on 0409576900 Jeremy

You don't suck man, if we had set a tight course you would have ruled supreme. The wide course was slow but I wanted to make sure everyone could make it, seeing as it was a couple of guys first day out there. As people get better, the courses will get tighter, and as your pump gets stronger, the more you will kick ass!
I'm looking forward to riding more slalom over the summer, more park skating as well with you and Steve, and maybe some more downhill/sliding with the speed freaks...
I'm off to Morro tomorrow, it will be awesome. We'll see how I hold up against the best of the best...

Man I suck at slalom. Came last. Still it was fun. But the course wasnt tight enough for me to pump and wasn't loose enough to double pump so I just couldn't get any kind of speed at all. Probly the slowest course ive ever done. But the point was that everyone was able to make it through the cones. Was a long board kind a day. Was good getting there early to help sweep etc and talk to Paul and haggy about technique and stuff. Hey oldskoolteam, next beer's on you.

The first Sydney Outlaw Slalom race was a success!
Despite some initial showers and shifting weather that had us wondering if it was gonna happen or not, the weather gods came through and the sun shone throughout the afternoon. We ended up setting one course, sort of a wide hybrid course. We were eight racers and, as we have no timing system, raced a double elimination format. This worked well and everyone got to race at least a couple of rounds.
Thanks to the guys who made it out. Next time we'll have to gather more troops. Kanufi, Simon, Adrian - where were you guys?
The results: 1. Haggy 2. Paul 3. Gus 4. Daniel 5. Joseph and Josh 6. Scott and Benny

For now, I am operating under the assumption that we will be racing this afternoon. The rain appears to have finally stopped by my house so if we're lucky it will hold. Hope to see some people there!
Not sure about Monday Simon, Paul is leaving for the US and I don't know what everyone else has planned. How about a race in Canberra some time!!

Hey guys, I can't make it, but if it's raining, what about holding it on Monday? It's a public holiday right? No cars, no people, all of you (in theory) have the day off....

Yeah, that sounds like an option.
The cool thing about the olympic Stadium is that it is lit at night. So if it's wet all day but dry by evening we can still have a contest there.

Man, it is pouring outside, coming down in buckets. The forecast for tomorrow is isolated showers, mainly morning, so hopefully we'll have a clear afternoon to run cones. If we do have a rainout, the contest will be delayed till later in the month.
Scott, you are getting so much faster every time we skate, it's fun to see. Watch out everyone else, Scott is gonna smoke you!
Hasta manana, skateboarders!

Thanks for the great tips the other night Paul. You seemed just as stoked to see me listen and do and go noticably faster each tip. Till I had that many tips in my head I wiped 8 cones in a row. I dont see anyone beating Paul or Haggy on saturday but if I get my footing right into the first cone, look out. Im shootn for third. Hang on a minute, I havn't raced the oldskoolteam yet. And I hope Joseph hasn't been practicing! Can't wait....

So who's getting ready to race a bit of slalom on Saturday?!
For all you downhill guys, I hope you're not expecting a big hill, because that's not what you're gonna get. But it will be fun to feel the thrill of racing head-to-head against someone else and the pressure that entails.
Paul and I checked out the site again yesterday and scoped the alternatives. The footy game is on Sunday so we should be good to go. Unless there is something big going on at the Stadium, this parking lot is basically dead.
The best thing will be for us all to park our cars inside the parking lot. That involves paying a fee but also lessens the chance of the rangers getting cranky, as cars are not supposed to park outside on the road. The fees are $6-2hrs, $9-3hrs, $15-unlimited. If you can't hack this leave your car somewhere on the road outside the parking lot.
I'll have 3 slalom boards with me and there are others, so there will be enough around for everyone to share.
I'm looking forward to some grudge matches coming out of this one!!
Alrighty folks, any questions?
