Sawadee Khrap! Hi to the skaters posting here in the land of smiles and miles and miles of uncrowded smooth downhill. I am living in Chalong, Phuket and there are loads of runs around the island and up in Phang Nga. There is a skatepark in Chiang Mai, a sizeable metal one at that, also a park out by the big sports stadium in the west of Bangkok. I think there are a few spots in Chonburi and up in the central region too, google for 'em. I have some time to travel and skate again, before the surf season here starts, as me teachings over, so feel free to call me on +66 (0)48409036 I was told that the Bangkok park was being resurfaced after the new year, so maybe it's done. I have yet to go, but I believe it is an old Red Bull event park, now at the Hua Mark Stadium, off Ramkhamhaeng Road. I don't know where to buy good kit here, the luxury goods tax makes it real pricey and the customs are buggers with mail order. Cost me 3,000 baht to get my ground and heavily board slid dirty ol' Red Kross Olsen out from them when it was posted out to me. Suck it and see... Chock Dii Khrap!
Hope to see ya soon Jonno

Paul, hope the jet lag’s not too bad.
On Thursday we’ll be at the P5 carpark at the Olympic Stadium at about 7.30. If you’ve got a car it’s easy enough to get there, but by public transit it’s either a train from Lidcombe station or a bus from Strathfield station. I’ll probably be getting there by train from the city.
Hope to see you there.

Hey Kimball , I was in Bangkok for a couple of weeks over Christmas. The only place I found wheels was in the sports department of the new Paragon center in Siam. Only sreet stuff though. I think you would need to mail order them. As for places to longboard I don't think i can remember anywhere where I thought I wish I had my board except for the road near Krabi Airport. I would be setting up cyber slalom on the basket ball courts like the ones outside the National stadium near MBK. Good luck and have fun. I LOVE Bangkok!

hey Martin! I'm out in Kalgoorlie at the moment, returning to Perth this weekend. Unfortunately I won't be able to make it down to Margs - would have been excellent but just pressed for time with work and stuff. You should think about coming over to the East coast in may for the Nationals in Bangalow...
did you use to ride with Paul Price, Stridey, Drayton, and the rest of the UK gang back in the day?
Also, check out charliedontskate.com - it's a great site to meet up with other like-minded bowl riders and slalomers.
later, haggy

Place to stay in Tokyo? At the risk of massive generalisation, Tokyo has an east and a west. The east side is older and quieter. The west is newer, noiser, and more filled with young people. So the west side is probably the go.
When you think west you think of the following places: Shinjuku, Shibuya, Harajuku, Ebisu and Roppongi. These are all big busy downtown centres. But anywhere is fine as long as it’s not too far away from things. The thing to look for is how close to a train station the place is, and whether the station is on a "good" line, ie, a line that goes directly to a major station.
For skating your friend should hook up with the Outdoor Japan crew, who used to have regular rides through Yoyogi park at night. They have an internet forum where they organise stuff. Pretty friendly guys who are always happy to have newcomers show up.
