I weigh 145, and the board doesn't flex unless I'm bouncing on it. The only comparison I could give you is that the Comet is a lot stiffer than my friend's Cloud 9 (7 layers of maple, I think), which I sink down into a bit. Hope that helps.

Road Rider Henry Hester wheels on 70's fiberglass board

I have a 70's fiberglass board with Road Rider Henry Hester wheels on it and ACS-500 trucks on auction on Ebay right now. Board in very good condition with normal use. No chips or cracks. Wheels in very good condition. No chips. Board is approximately 26" long and 5-3/4" at the widest point. There is a Road Rider decal on the bottom which is partly missing. I've been told this is a slalom board and someone here might be interested. (I hope it is OK to post info about my auction here.)

Conway, how much do you weigh? I am leaning toward getting a comet but am concerned about too much flex. You have that board set up just as I would with the RII and power paws, so I could be interested.

Kaspian, it sounds more like your G&S is not a Bowlrider but more like the Steve Cathey freestyle model or just the regular old kicktail model. They offered them in flat or rockered. The bowlrider was thicker, 27 or 29" and flat, wider than their other decks 8 1/2" I believe. The Bowlrider and the Teamrider were much stiffer than the other Fibreflex's.

Was cleaning out my closet yesterday and found an oldstyle Tracker halftrack truck. (Has the smaller pivot on the hangar). I broke the other one in 1980. Anyone have one to sell or trade? I have a set of the newer half and mid tracks. I also have some ex tracks with the pastic baseplates. Might sell it too..

G&S Bowlrider

Is anybody looking for a 70's vintage G&S Bowlrider? I just got this deck in a trade, and I'm not sure what to do with it. GBJ says it would make a great slalom board -- turned upside down. But I hesitate to do this because the original grip (down the center of the board, with the Fibreflex logo cut in) looks really nice, and is in nearly perfect shape. In fact the whole deck looks as though some kid rode it a few times, got tired of it, and stashed it in the attic.
Anyhow, if somebody here would make better use of this than me, I could use the proceeds to pick up a longer G&S. I do not know what this kind of thing is worth. Here are the specs:
- 25" x 6-1/2" - simple surfboard shape, no cutouts, pointed at the tip and rounded in the tail - slight rocker (about 1/2") rising to a 4" kicktail aft of the rear truck - all black on top, with center grip and logo; all blue on the bottom - no damage or signs of wear except minor nicks around the nose, discoloration where the rear truck was left on after the front was removed, and slight bottom scuffing, seemingly acquired in storage - 2 stickers on the bottom: "ACS Trucks" and "Salt Water Sports & Cycle, Rockland Maine" (an outfit that has not existed in the 13 years I've lived around here).
I'll have pictures soon, though my camera isn't so great. Get in touch if you're interested or just curious. It seems like a pretty cool find for the right rider.

Damn, this Coleman guy is something! Selling his own personal vintage Hobie to help out a buddy with medical bills. Cliff, I've seen you ride in the first Powell video, and have benefitted from that amazing slide you brought to us that helps us all out of trouble now and then. I hope someone coughs up a couple of grand for that killer vintage setup, if i were rich I'd do it myself. You are one heck of a man. Let's hear it for this badass!

I'm going to list my only Hobie board on E- Bay soon. It will be for the Johno Moore relief fund. He had a compound fracture of his right leg while racing in Utah at the IGSA contest.
The board, trucks and wheels are in really good condition and still has the decal intact. I have also signed it, "Cliff Coleman, Hobie Team Member, 1965. Keep your eyes open for the listing and open your wallets for a good cause. This guy is self employed and has a wife and I think three children. It will be some months before he can return to work. He is worthy of your support.

I'm letting them go for 110$ shipped, including two sets of vintage Krypto wheels both with bearings, an extra kingpin, and an extra pair of gold springs. I will also throw in some extra stuff, I'll see what I have lyin around. Original Tracker & Gullwing Bushings

If you need original bushings for those old Trackers or Gullwings let me know. For $5 a set (enough for 2 trucks) I have original vintage Tracker black RUBBER bushings in their original packages. I also have the original hard white Tracker bushings as well as green rubber Gullwing bushings for Gullwing Pro trucks (all in original packages). Though the Gullwings are cylindrical and not conical, I have used them with success on the split-axle trucks too. You just need to use larger flat washers. Thanks, Ed
