Just listed on e-bay 1979 DOGTOWN SHOGO KUBO Airbeam model and a JAY ADAMS Z-FLEX from the 70's. I'm the original owner and they've been stored indoors for all these years. They're in good used condition. Auction #415592103 and 415465927. Haven't been boarding in a long time. Thought some collector's might be interested. Thanks

I am poor. SOOOOOOO poor. I cannot keep skating without the gear. So, I will trade my barely used Powell Mini-logo 31.75. new indys and relatively new wheels. I paid 130$ for the setup. Used it less than a dozen times at all. I need elbow and knee pads in reasonable condition. Please someone have pity on a poor fool like me.

I have a number of Skateboard World and Wild World of Skateboarding issues on ebay. Do a seller search on 'joedwarf' and you should get them all. The WWS ones are a hoot, lots of cheese. These are back from the day I was 17 and bought every magazine or book I could find.

If anyone knows anything about these boards, could give me a little info on how it handles. My old sector9 stingray is finally giving up after 4 yrs. of stress. The csmic is the next closest board to my stingray so I want to know what I am getting into before I go and blow my money on a new board

What do you suppose it would cost to get an original?how about an equally functional replacement.Take a longbolt, grade 8 even an allen bolt and if there arn't enough threads cut a few more then you'll be able to lock the kingpin into the base with a regular locknut, perhaps a special washer that fits the recess in the base, then another nut could be turned into position to set the geometry, bushings and top nut obviously. Lastly the nub your preciously rare nub, either the bolt needs to be long enough to machine down into a nub,or drill the end hollow and cut some threads, using a suitable bolt to replace said nub, countersink the bracket and use a flathead bolt from any new school board, blasphamy yes, will it work definitely.

The irony of the whole situation is that while I want this single piece of equipment to complete an in-use slalom set-up, and might have to bite into the vintage market to find one, I also happen to own some of the very most vintage and collectible Gullwing equipment in the world. When I was seeking one of these kingpins about ten years ago (before vintage skateboard collectibility), I contacted Walter Tiege (inventor of the original Gullwing) at HPG (High-Performance Group). While he didn't have this particular piece, he directed his people to send me (what looks like) everything he had left on the original Gullwing. They sent several hand-sanded test castings of hangers, baseplates cast in alternative (unidentified) materials, and axles galore. They also sent several Phoenix kingpins without the nipple, which would equally suffice for anyone who has one of these old trucks WITHOUT the support bracket. I guess that's the kind of trade I was hoping for. I'd hate to have to part with something like a Quicksilver, to get a set of someone's vintage trucks, just so I could use the kingpin on an active skateboard. All of this, as the result of two complete sets of Gullwings and brackets stolen (one on a Turner and one on a Quicksilver) well over ten years ago.

GBJ,
I may also be able to help, but I'm not real crazy about the idea of pulling one out of a functional truck. I do have one NOS Gullwing Split Axle Truck, but I'd want a pretty good price (I got it in a lot of NOS stuff that I paid quite a bit for), or like Adam, I'd want something pretty good in trade. I have also have one old beat up one, but I'd like to hang onto it, because I know that someday I'm going to find the other one.
You might also try going to a machinist and having one fabricated. It might be cheaper than trying to find some one willing to part with one on the vintage market.

My Gullwing Phoenixes have the optional support bracket and the nipple. Strange. They're NOS and part of my vintage collection. I might be talked out of them but it would take something special in trade.

looking for ORIGINAL Gullwing kingpin

Hey everyone, I guess I may as well let everyone on here know, I'll pay good money for just ONE original Gullwing kingpin (circa mid-70's). Ten years ago, I couldn't even get one from Walter Tiege (invented original Gullwing). Specifically, this bolt is a multi-sectioned, highly-machined piece of equipment and MUST include the little nipple of the outside end. The Gullwing Phoenix kingpins were identical EXCEPT for this little nipple, which fit through a supplementary support bracket. Without this end of the kingpin secured in the aforementioned bracket, the back and forth action of turning will eventually cause the kingpin to shear off back at the baseplate. This really bites, as I once took major damage to my leading elbow from launching myself through the air, as the stump of my kingpin bit into the pavement. If anyone has one of these little gems and would consider a sale, a trade, or both, e-mail me. Thanks. GBJ

I also have a couple of pairs of vintage Tracker Half& Mid Tracks, OJ super slaloms, and some Bennett Pros w/original "red rubber" bushings. I am looking to replace my "Soul Board" a red 1978 Jay Adams "Z-Flex"! Also looking for Schmitt bushings yellow "mids" or orange "softs" I will trade or buy. I will also dig deep into my collection of Skateboarder mags! I have 4 complete years of Skateboarder from 1976-1980, and some issues of Action Now, many vintage Thrashers, Transworlds, and 4 Spike Jone's HOMEBOY circa 88-93? Am currently cruising a 2000 36" Gravity Poolboard w/Indy 169's Grind King king pins & Schmitt bushings, green Gravity G's w/Abec 5's & 3/8"riser & urethane shock pad. Smoothest, fastest, most respnsive deck I've ever assembled or ridden! Dos Luminos!
