I also had a Sims 26 taperkick and a Superlight 10.0 I refinished those and now wish I had'nt. I did a good job but wish I had left them alone. The lamination on the Superlight was coming un-done but the Taperkick was in pretty good ship.

Don't refinish it! Value on most old stuff seems to remain highest in non-refinished state... HR

36" Sims Taper Kick - Oak & Mahogany Liminate

I have a 36" 1976 Sims Pure Juice Oak/Mahogany laminate board (walnut center). I would call the condition fair, but was told it is in good condition. No cracks, but some amount of scraps/sanding/compression of nose/tail due to years of riding. The rest is in good shape, with the Sims logo legible on the bottom (some scraps). As original Tracker Trucks and 70mm blue Kryptonic wheels. Anyone have ideas on what is this thing is worth? Also, I am an experienced woodworker. Should I remove the the old grip tape and sand/refinish the deck (other than the logo on the bottom)? thanks, bruce

ACS 650's / fibreflex

I am looking for a set of ACS 650's in clean condition. Also, regarding the fibreflex's, if anybody knows of the old fibreflex kicktail or slalom copies and where to get them please let me know. From what I understand after speaking with Debby Gordon (from G&S) the colored fiberglass sheets are no longer available and would make it difficult even for G&S to reissue those decks. Hence, a good copy, if one exists, could prove to be quite a catch. Perhaps somebody out there knows something we don't know...

Although an original Z-flex is a little more difficult to duplicate, I have to agree with Paul D. My current bank only rider is an Alva 10x29 which I made a while back and finally took it off the wall. Check it on Hugh's site.
I currently have it set up with vintage early Sixtracks, Copers and soft Panther 65's. It rips! Nothing blows people away more than shreddin' some terrain on a $500+ (so they think)skateboard.
You CAN re-make most of the early decks and usually they are much nicer than the originals.
Maybe this should have been posted elwhere. Hmmm.

Herbn, If you make one I'll buy it (I'll buy 2 or 3)! Cuz, I really want one to skate it! There would be no guilt skating a knock-off. I made a copy of that alva 30X8 w/ the redish-orange to yellow fade under the die-cut grip tape (I copied the one I trashed as a kid). And me and my kids use it. It fooled some friends who should know better. There wasn't much variety in skates which we could buy back then, up here, so having something we drooled over is more of a "YES, I can finally skate it" and not so much a "where on the wall do I put this..."
