On 3/25/2000 jimbo wrote in from (24.31.nnn.nnn)

Found some alum. bearing spacers that work with my Kyrto's, there about 8.3mm wide. I can get more, if anyone needs some there a buck a piece.

BLACK PANTHERS SHOULD BURN IN H3LL

I HAVE TROUBLE CONCIEVING HOW LUGE DUDE, NO OFFENSE TO HIM/HER CAN HONESTLY BELIEVE THAT BEARINGS ARE ALMOST IRRELEVANT! HE/SHE SAYS "I run a set (BLACK pANTHERS) on my luge, as well as Reflex, and NINJA 7's, and crappy abec 1's. I don't notice any differance in speed, even between the abec1's and NINJAs." I THINK THAT IS MONKEY FUDGE, MY BLACK PANTHERS ARE TEN TIMES SLOWER THAN MY CHINA BONES, ONE OF WHICH IS MISSING HALF OF IT'S CROWN, THE BALLS JUST ROLL all over the race,

Bones Ceramics
On 3/24/2000 Herbn wrote in from (207.198.nnn.nnn)

Yes sirre ,I took the plunge so you won't have too, unless of course you need to win races. These bearings won't scare you, they are very smooth, but a forty three mph hill will still be a forty three mph hill ok may be 44, but you will be ahead of someone with lesser bearings not much, but first place doesn't need a hundred yard gap. They push off easier because of the lighter rotating weight, and they're major downside is,if you slide off the road into someones gravel drivway you'll be checking your bearings before you laugh about it.

FKD abec 5 Bearings
On 3/20/2000 Paul wrote in from (205.188.nnn.nnn)

i have some damn fast bearings, FKD golds, the ones that come in the metal case, theyve taken some time to break in, but are super quiet, but definitly not the best buy. theyre pretty nice until they start to wear out, then the race widens and the balls wobble in the crown, but at high speed they are pretty good. but i want better, i hope to be able to find good ones in stores, anybody know where i can getabec 7+ bearings, without having to order them? i live in denver. i like my china bones too, but i need something better than the bones, and the FKD's. My e-mail is Soulreiver444@aol.com thank you

Spacers
On 3/18/2000 Pre-School Rider wrote in from (209.198.nnn.nnn)

J Z, You gotta let us Know WHAT wheels are on that board,Then someone can spec out the right spacer for it.Remove a wheel, pull a bearing, and then measure the bridge that is inside the wheel, between the bearings. Then match up the spacer to fit;check this thread in it's archive section to fit the right spacer to your wheels.

3 in 1 oil
On 3/16/2000 Jessie wrote in from (171.223.nnn.nnn)

yikes! I wiped off my bearings to get the layer of dirt off they'd accumulated, and as an afterthought put a medium dose of 3 in 1 oil on, just to see what would happen. my bearings are noisier now, but they're running MUCH faster and they keep rolling for quite some time off less pushing.. given that it's light oil I dunno if it's going to last too long. my dad is trying to get me to put some light grease on my bearings, but ah well. we'll see.

One-shield
On 3/16/2000 Pre-School Rider wrote in from (209.198.nnn.nnn)

Mario, the intake of dirt is directly related to how clean your wheels are to begin with, and how dusty the roads are where you ride. And,yup,I often do what you're doing for a little more speed.I know the maintanence is MUCH easier with only one shield on.As for heat dissapation, the real answer is finned shields, but no one makes them in a 608 bearing.

Removing inner shields
On 3/16/2000 Mario wrote in from (205.227.nnn.nnn)

Does anybody else do this besides me? I always remove the inner shields on my bearings with the hope that there is less friction. I lube my bearings frequently so having the shield off on one side is easier maintenance. Does more dirt get in? Maybe. Does dirt fall out of the bearings easier. Probably. Since the shields are removed on the inside of the wheels, the dirt would have to get aroung the bearing seats first. On most wheels this is a pretty tight fit. Maybe having the inner shields off helps with heat dissipation, too.

Spacers
On 3/10/2000 Lee wrote in from (195.186.nnn.nnn)

For a long time I´ve had some problems finding the right spacers for my Route 70´s. The solution was to get some too narrow ones (aprox. 6-7mm )and fit properly with washers(between spacers and bearings)
hope this can help someone

Keep Crusin´

black panthers; not slow
On 3/10/2000 luge dude wrote in from (151.188.nnn.nnn)

Black panthers are not slow, if u think they are then u dont know much about bearings. I'm not saying that they are really frikkin fast either though. I run a set on my luge, as well as Reflex, and NINJA 7's, and crappy abec 1's. I don't notice any differance in speed, even between the abec1's and NINJAs. The difference in time if u ran the crappy bearings against the Ninjas is no more than half a sec on a 900ft. hill. In fact, i set a speed record( for the hill) on a hill near me on my ABEC 1's.

modular spacers

Boy that sounds convenient for rotating your wheel positions relocating the ones that wear quicker, also cleaning the bearings should be a real party.

Bearing Spacers
On 3/8/2000 Pre-School Rider wrote in from (209.198.nnn.nnn)

Benny,Rob K,I'm going to save my fingers a little, and refer you to the archives,on this thread. 8mm spacers.Try punching the centers out of out bearings(the ones that no longer spin)by putting them in a vise, using a taper punch and big hammer.PROTECT your eyes!,as pieces go everywhere. The centers work quite well, but you can shim up little differences in spacer width with a speed-ring axle washer.

WHEN I SAID THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF PLAY I DID MEAN NO PLAY, AS OPPOSED TO SO TIGHT THE BEARINGS CAN'T TURN LIKE MY STUPID SHORTBOARD BUDDYS DO, EITHER THAT OR THEY HAVE THEM SO LOSE THAT WHEN THEY LAND TRICKS, THE BEARINGS SHATTER, EVEN PANTHERS WILL.
