Wow, a hundred bucks- you're joking, right? Question: Does a Marketing Manager's wife count as a "celebrity"? I'll throw ya a bone, and even include a few shots of her cast and crutches for good measure.

We have commenced sticker blitz....first wave of stickers have landed at Oceanside warehouse...more reinforcements are coming
We are going on the offense and no board, helmet, hydro pole, computer monitor or drive thru is safe...and bumper stickers, well, you know the drill
It's sticker war, and you're enlisted! And we are printing up those B-I-G freakin' stickers...not the small ones...the BIG ONES..the one that you can see from 100 yards away!
We are printing up a TON of stickers...look for them in the new issue...subscribers copies will definitely have them...and lord knows where else they will pop up.
If you can get a photo of a celebrity with a CW sticker...we'll pay you $100.
Photos of stickers placed on dead celebrities and Paris Hilton are not eligible. Neither are stickers on Bam...sorry

I am my own best cook, but when it comes to places to eat... When in SanDiego, i have to have a big-ass Carne Asada Burrito, with guacamole at Alberto's. In the sacramento area, it's the same burrito, but at Aldaberto's. When in Pensacola, i have to stop and have the soft-shell crab po'boy at Flounders on the beach. When in boston, i gotta stop at the italian north-end for practically anything italian, but i love the clam chowder in the Logan airport international terminal. When in New York, it's the Ninth Circle Steakhouse in Greenwich village. When in Oklahoma City, i love to get a huge Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich from Del Rancho. When in Southern maryland, i loved going to BBQs at the Concrete Bombers Compound. When in D.C. I like to go to the Smithsonian Natural History museum, in the Cafe' they have the world's best Filet Mignon sandwiches. When in Memphis, i love to go to Crumpies Hot wings (in the middle of the ghetto) When in Roswell, i love to go to the Hungry American Deep Pit BBQ. In london, it's the 140 Park Lane Restaurant for a big rack of Lamb. In manchester, it's "fish & Chips" & beer at Harry Ramsden's on Water Street. In Tokyo, it's a stop at Yoshinoya for a big bowl of Gyudon. (of course that covers most of the west-pac area as well.) I love good food, and damn it, it doesn't matter where i am, i will shred, then eat.

It is amazing the variety of foods that are out there. But what's more interesting is the way they are prepared and served. The ambiance goes a long way in my enjoyment of food. Pierre is correct about the Cafe Santropol. This place is just AMAZING. It's an institution in Montreal...just like the deli, Schwartz's...Speaking of Montreal, handsdown, the best place to eat reasonably priced/incredibly tasty food in ALL of Canada. Sure, we've got great restaurants in Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and Toronto, but you can't beat Montreal in terms of variety and scope and ambiance. From Kojaks insanely great Gyros to the deli's, you simply cannot match the food in Montreal.
I think food speaks to our need for variety. You can't just live on bread and water..and even pizza every day gets boring (and would make you weigh 400lbs!). I like what the Swedes do...shmorgesbord...sorry for the spelling!

Best pizza, by far- Vinnie's Pizzaria, S. Main St., Concord, NH. I used to eat it at least twice a week; I was on a first name basis with old man Vinnie, and all of his delivery drivers. The best pizza, anywhere- hands down.
I'll fight anyone on that, and win! (Boom! Biff! Kabam!)

That is some joint! I loved that sandwich! Where it is? Since we are still on the topic of food, anyone else care to add their favorite places... Me, I say DANTES in Richmond Hill. This is one of the best places for Pizza and other types of Italian food. The portions are enormous.

I was blessed with very supportive parents. My Mom never threw anything of mine away. After my Dad was killed in 1972, I started skating and surfing. From then on, my Mom thought it was a great way for me to cope with our loss.
I just lost my Mom, and once again... the boards are there for me. Thank God for skating and surfing!

My favorite post-skate chowdown is "The Hat" (a small SoCal burger/pastrami chain). Fortunately, they've got locations within a few miles of SkateLab, Etnies, Upland and Glendale. Otherwise, In-N-Out or good Mexican ties for a close second...
When I stopped skating in 1980, I put all my boards, along with every issue of SkateBoarder and Skateboard World, in storage in my parents' attic. When I started skating again, I went back to get it all out, and found almost everything was gone, except a plastic California FreeFormer, and an oak deck I had made for my brother back in '75. Everything else, including a G&S Henry Hester, a Zephyr, and several of my prototypes, was gone. I asked my mom where everything went, she said they had a garage sale back around '85 and got rid of it all. They thought I'd never miss it...

My favorite food after a really sick session has got to be any kind of beef I can throw at the BBQ, along with some really cold Guinness, hand poured from the can. Nothing like pulling steak straight from grill to mouth.

I just wanted to say thanks to you folks for help in promoting our wonderful sport and I hope some marketing gurus can use this stuff to expand our sport. Clint Williams and the rest of the crew at the Atlanta Journal and Constitution did a fantastic job.
Thanks to Trip Arnold and Gordon Smith's daughter for getting me back into the sport. For all those that make their living off of skateboarding why don't you use us older riders to help promote your stuff to the younger generation. No one takes notice when kids are kicking and flipping or cruising but when a 230 pounder is carving it up people take notice. Just look at all the publicity this one article is getting on something I do for fun. I started riding, then my sons start riding, now the neighbor kids have boards and every once in a I see a rail set and cones in the middle of the streets and it takes me back to the 1970s with no shirts and no pads and those red Bruce Jenner tennis shoes.
If we in Atlanta can help promote the sport in any way please contact us.

I know that we all love our mothers...and I am sure many of you are having a great time celebrating today.
My question is this: did your mom throw out your PRIZED collection of skate mags or skate books?
This is not meant to offend any mothers reading this...it is merely posed as a question of the day....

Finally...some acknowledgement!
Yes, Virginia, there really are skaters who do more than just rails and ledges...
I spent 45 minutes on the phone with a writer from Transworld Biz. They are doing a story on longboarding...once that gets posted, LOOK OUT!

Great stuff, Michael.
I find, though, the most fascinating part of the story to be the quote from Carleton Curtis.
TRANSWORLD even acknowledging the existence of something outside of rail slides and Ollies has GOT TO BE a major event in the history of skateboarding.
Maybe these longboarders wear really expensive Nikes when they ride?
