HUH? It's a rad picture of Bennett SKATEBOARDING. Plain & simple. Who cares if it's street, downhill, pools, slalom, skatepark, ditch... it's all skateboarding.
Remember skateboarding?

there's no real school unless you have a limited vision of things this vision is against anything skateboarding preaches in general. it all belongs to the same and it's all fun. cw is known for being very representative of the so called old school skating. but on the other hand you have to ask yourself what is oldschool and what not, maybe? all is fresh all is new the fun is everywhere. accept that fact and enjoy skateboarding!

New school? Old School? No School?
there are REASONS for the cover shot being what it is...
perhaps you can guess why?
no hair gel ads, though...

Michael,
It was great meeting you in person. As you already know I love your magazine and books. What a great weekend. I'm glad you made it down. Passionate fun loving skaters from all ends of the earth. Reminds me why I still love to race and skate. I think I'll get over it and stop but I don't think you ever get over it and I've come to the conclusion that I'll never stop.
Big Hug.
Judi O
And I'll get the CD to you. I promise.

This years party will have a best trick, best costume and best COMBO. The kids are coming up with lots of fun ideas! Come as a Texan and do a Texas Plant, or come as hunter and do "shoot the duck" or come as Jesus and do a Christ air. Come as George Bush and do a Feeble.
I'm coming as Larry Bertleman and I'll throw a fat Bert.
Any other ideas?

Didn't realize that the site was that old. My first day on the Information Super Highway was Dec. 4th, 1994. I didn't find your Skategeezer site till around 1999. Hard to believe that many years have passed. But then again... time flies when you're havin' fun on your skateboard(s) like many of us do, such as it were.

Man, it's odd to see where things started....I've been on the internet since the birth of my daughter - that was 12 years ago. 1994. The skategeezer homepage is 11 years old.

I perused the May 14, 2003 posts. A few of the postings in this forum near that day were about kids and skateboarding, parents being supportive, and MB's kids.
That brought back memories. Why May 14, 2003?
On that day in Ottawa there was a skateboard comp in Ottawa put on by KC Projects out of Montreal. The night before was a demo by some of the Birdhouse team, at least those that hadn't gone straight to the bars in the market.
It was also my son's 5th birthday, his first pro demo, his first skateboard competition, and his first top 20 finish (there were 20 competitors). The entry fee for the demo was fundraising for the March of Dimes. I think the total haul was well over $10,000.
I remember it being a very positive experience. The lasting impression of skateboarding as a supportive activity is probably to blame for me posting occasionally to forums like this one. The Birdhouse pros were nice enough to find a deck and get it autographed and give it to a little kid they'd never met before and likely never would again. Two local shops gave him a ton of swag and one of them invited him to join the team.
Here's a picture from Jared's run at the comp. Some skate OLD-school, some NEW-school, but this run is all PRE-school ;-).
