I finally got off the DH bench and tried slalom and I'm HOOKED! I now realize why there's such a big following and tons of competitions... It's because it's FUN! I'm working on getting myself a set-up ASAP and there are a few guys in BC who are looking to arrange some grassroot races, in the meantime I'll be working on going fast through the courses. Hopefully I can get better at this whole slalom business and hit up the races in Cali. STOKED ON SLALOM!!!

Yo homies!! This site is awesome, but all of you guys are so far away from old Santa Monica, and I have to carve down these awesome runs all by my lonesome... Anyone out there live close who wants to go bomb hills at breakneck speed for fun?

In response to your longboarding post ...
I would say that longboarding is easier than skateboarding. In my opinion, longboard is more like snowboarding, skimboarding or surfing than a skateboard is. It allows me to travel at higher speeds, and I feel I have much more control and balance on a longboard than I do on a skateboard. Instead of doing tricks, I enjoy going down hills and carving. Where are you located Emeline?

well, i would like to try longboarding, i can already skateboard ok. im rather horrible at it but i can go down a moderate hill without killing myself. but i want to try longboarding but no one i know owns a longboard. i would like to try before going out and spending $100+ on a longboard. so just wondering, is it that much different than skateboarding?

Hi, I've been skating my longboard for transportation for 4 years, and have recently started to get into downhill skateboarding. I will be moving to the South Bay (Gilroy) area in 1 month, and am looking for people to skate with that live in San Jose, Santa Cruz, San Francisco or anywhere in the bay area! I have a truck and a couple of boards, shoot me an email, thanks!
I'm currently living in Santa Barbara, CA for 1 more month if anyone is close to there and wants to skate some hills.

Too any slalom sponsors out there Matt Gandy is an awesome slalom racer. If slalom is the future. Then one of you slalom sponsors pick Matt up. The kid is fast and he has the slalom STOKE. Matt you deserved the 20$ you won at the Chicago Race. Next time you punch Joe I in the stomach, DUCK MATT!!!!. Joe I has a quick left. Your Amigo Eddy Texas Outlaws.

Be Glad To Help!

Hey Hibberd! Glad to hear you want to start skateboarding. It is hard to teach you how on a forum (It would be easier in person) But I'll do my best! First you really need to get used to standing on a skateboard. Just hold onto something solid and roll back and forth on your skateboard. Once you're comfortable with the movement... Try just standing the skateboard with no help. But the biggest key is to figure out which foot will be the one in front, which of course is the most comfortable for you. Once you've got that down (Right foot forward is Goofy, and Left foot forward is regular) let me know and I'll keep going. This is a big step on its own. Any questions... Email me or you can just post here! GOOD LUCK

Howdy, I truly hope that you have been introduced to the Bear and Indian school if not you should realy try to find them Indian School is by Indian School road but it starts by tramway and rover. can't remember where the bear is right now but I'll get back to you on that. I'm going to Portland for the race so I won't be in town till next Monday. But then you can call me up any time and I'd be glad to show you some hills and ditches.
You can reach me at 866-4142 Good luck

Speedboarding is one of my favorite skateboarding activities. For me, speedboarding is 20 mph and above, depending on the course as well, of course going top speed down mountain runs at 65 mph is speedboarding, but going down a tech course where you're only going 30 mph but you have loads of hairpins is speedboarding too.
Top speed for me is stuck at 60.77 mph and I need a draft to go faster.
