Gib/Age rankings
On 9/12/2009 cliff coleman wrote in from (70.239.nnn.nnn)

Gib,I think everyone could still race each other as has been the way. I just think an appropriate computer program could easily print out age results from the entire race field. Then you race all ages. It's just the results, age wise added at the end with all race results.Cliff :ugeek:

Racer Age Groups
On 9/6/2009 Gib wrote in from United States  (76.25.nnn.nnn)

I am with you on the age group thing Cliff. The down side is that it is harder to get the competitor field size up in the older age group(s). You can wind up racing yourself. I have certainly seen that in bike racing.

Heck, I'd even like some individual (against the clock) downhill races with appropriate age groups.

Age race catagories
On 9/5/2009 Cliff Coleman wrote in from United States  (209.86.nnn.nnn)

At all races, it would be easy to have age catagories. They do this for bicycle races. Example: 40-44,45-49, 50-54,55-59 and then for me, 60+ ;)

...for the kudos, just wish I had been 100%. I missed out at a semi spot in the TS by 0.07sec and a crack at the 3rd place overall...c'est la vie, at least I got to skate. My ankle is pretty damned sore now though, thats what you get for being old and foolish!
Masters will be even more competitive in years to come with at least half of the current US Pros eligible! The Worlds will be in Europe next year and there are some very fast old guys there.
Great to finally meet you and hang out with the rest of the old farts, hope we get to do the snow thing one day too!

Martin - congrats on your third in Masters Hybrid at the Worlds. Great results overall considering you had a boot on your ankle on Thursday! Cool to finally meet you in person. Congrats also to the other Masters podium racers - Pirnack, Ravitch, Hollien, Schaub and Hunt.

I'm comin' over next year at 48...hoping Pirnack keeps his word and goes to the Juniors. ;-)

Kludy's goal
On 7/1/2009 Cliff Coleman wrote in from United States  (216.70.nnn.nnn)

I love it that Rick wants to race when he is 50! On my next birthday, I'll be 60 and plan to race any style I still can. If i do, I will have raced in 6 consecutive decades. The 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 00s, and the 10s. I also want to skate 100 miles in one day.

Stay active and don't give up your toys!

Old Racers
On 6/26/2009 Miko wrote in from United States  (67.180.nnn.nnn)

Hey Rick! I raced the Timeship Maryhill 05 event as a 51 year old. I'm 55 now and hoping to hit it again this year, although the mountain bike has been kicking my ass HARD the last 2 years. I'm now 6 weeks beyond a badly broken and chopped nose and an eye socket fracture. Feeling ok to skate, but it sorta took the wind out of my sails a bit. Sorry I missed my chance to roll with you when you were up in Salinas. Next time you're, up hit me up! -m

I here ya. The silly thing is I can still spank alot of riders as long as there are no turns , Ha ! My new goal is to enter a race when I become 50 in just a few years.

oldsters
On 4/24/2009 mangels wrote in from United States  (167.218.nnn.nnn)

I'm a little older than Steve, and like he says, I'll be a master no matter what. What's sad about that is, once you've reached "masters" status, it's like there's nowhere left to go. It's the end of the line. I'd be ok with being a master if there was one more class waaaay out there that I hadn't got to yet, like for guys older than 75: The "Oldsters" division. And after that, the "Century" division for guys over 100.

I'm pretty sure I won't make it that far, but if I do you can bet I'll be bitchin' about it. :-)

Masters DH+
On 4/16/2009 LAVIN wrote in from United States  (76.29.nnn.nnn)

I'm thinking the age of 45 is good for both disciplines but I know where you're coming from on this. I have been competing okay and don't use a standard DH rig; my times and speed is respectable I think. Although JBH is not officially Masters age he kick's youngin' but in speed on his DH rigs all day long. I think there is more of a difference in slalom then speed anyway in terms of physical ability between ages. Just my opinion and thoughts on your question Kludy. Of course I'm already in the Masters so opinion may seem biased but trying not to be ;)

Masters in Speedboarding
On 3/26/2009 Kludy wrote in from United States  (68.8.nnn.nnn)

I would like to inroduce Masters in the speedboarding family and was thinking that it should be 35 years old and up because now a days the average age is like 20 years old. Right now there only a few of us that are over 40 and a good group here is cali that are over 30 years old. That would give us egough riders to have a Masters class. I could for years if we could do that because I would trust my class of Masters to be just that racing down any hillThe outlaw seem to be working here and it got started with just a seed.
Well I seem to have another one in my pocket.

What do all of you think about the age of a Master Downhill Skateboarder ?

Masters OR PRO, Masters OR AM
On 3/26/2009 Pat Chewning wrote in from United States  (24.21.nnn.nnn)

Just to be clear: A racer who is qualified (old) may race in the MASTERS class, the PRO class, or the AMATEUR class.... but only choose one (in advance).

There will be no double-dipping or moving from class to class. Choose your poison and jump in the start gate.
