On 5/31/2008 skip wrote in from United States  (24.20.nnn.nnn)

I have a question that Mr. Smallwood may be able to give me perspective on. Heck, one of you folks out in speed-land may have encountered this yourselves. I'll explain it the best I can...

Flying to Europe for 2 races. Czech Rep. and Amsterdam. Back to back weekends. Arrive 8-5-08, Return 8-19-08
Our flight is 1 stop, PDX to Prague (PRG), changing planes in Amsterdam (AMS). Same on the way back, PRG to AMS, AMS to PDX

The second race is in Amsterdam, so we have to get back to Prague to fly home.I would love to eliminate the trip back to Prague, Only to turn around and fly back to Amsterdam the next morning.

My question to you Sir... Do you think it would be possible to no-show for our flight from PRG to AMS (which is with Czech Airlines), and just fly from AMS to PDX ( which is Northwest)?

You can email me directly or share here. Thanks for the help.

Our thoughts are with Justin and his family & crew. Be safe out there kids

Justin Metcalf
On 5/28/2008 mc3 wrote in from United States  (67.41.nnn.nnn)

I only know he has several serious injuries after sliding off the road on Mt. Baker. His father has been updating folks on Silverfish. I would rather have you go there than me misinform anyone.

This was a post from his dad.

Justin is still unconscious. The medication is not keeping him under, just helping keep him calm and keeping the intracranial pressure down. We're waiting for him to come out of it whenever he is ready. He has a couple of brain injuries in the frontal lobe and in the thalmus, and a few sheer-injury sites around the perimeter of the brain. None of them appear to have gotten worse since the accident.

His pelvis fracture consists of a few small pieces broken off the outer wing at the right hip and a 3 inch laceration open to the bone. The orthopedists are letting it heal on its own for now. That may change if he needs to put any weight on it before it's healed. He also has a small laceration of the liver, but that is also being allowed to heal on its own.

He's on a respirator, although he is able to breathe on his own. It just keeps his breathing steady, strong and easy on him so he doesn't have to work at anything. All of his monitored functions show improvement and stable conditions since being admitted to the ICU.

He shows a lot of muscle action/reaction on the left side and a little action on the right side in response to pain and movement stimulus, which is promising. We just need him to wake up and tell us what's wrong, if anything. It's going to be a long process folks. Keep sending him those good wishes, and thanks for all the nice comments in this forum. I'm reading them to him as they come in.

Drew

ColoRADo Storms

Way to go Kevin! That's Way Cool for you bro. I saw the footage and photo's and to just see how hard ya'll charged into that corner, impressive is an understatement.

Mr. Rolfe, I had to google your name and thanx for the history lesson. Pocahontas? That's prime gambling rights for your demon seed. So I thought digging a trench was bad and hope the local economy can quickly replant and harvest before the end of season. Planting tobacco was a side note to sk8ing some prime hills, seeing you guys in the District and bombing in the pitch black was way cool.

Vail Pass West Syyyyeeeed is up and running. Real big tail winds and "I have no legs" Thought a bear or mountain lion could grab me at anytime though. Really. Lots of snow and scat and wind...pretty cool.

Of the ColoRADo wind. The Tornado in Windsor was devastating to lots of folk and happens to be home to some core Colorado sk8'rs who are helping to clean up as I type, thanx guys.

On 5/18/2008 mckendry wrote in from United States  (71.208.nnn.nnn)

Geez Nick, glad your ok.

I'm working heaps to pay for the month I traveled and trying to save for the next adventure. I can't make it to Lookout today but I've been goin there pretty randomly. I'm gonna get down there soon for a couple days and hit you up for a Rist session also. It's tuff for me to get down there and back on the days I work, but if you can make it up here you've got a couch.

Everything up here seems to be ridable (could snow again) now that it's warming up. I have some gate codes for private roads that are just a blast to run.

DANGER BAY TODAY!!!!!!

KF congrats on the new man and hope all's well back in the Commonwealth, is that how ya spell it?

Trail Ridge Road is way fun! Really wanna ride that again. MF'N Callahan and Koop were flying down the hill as they should be, nice backyard!
Things are warmin up and down valley up heer in Eagle County is drying out.
Lookout Mt was super windy and that seems to slow things down up there, but doesn't change the hairpins or the tail at the bottom.

Been trying to get it all in because work has started. See ya up there

Missing Danger Bay, Ya'll have fun, be safe, and score lots of goals!

Sunday Brought us a beautiful day, though the pass was snowed out.
Shuttle vehicles were aplenty in the form of three decked out SUV's but sadly lacking riders.

It was great meeting & riding with you Rob and I look forward to some more turns! Thanks for putting up with my lack of skills!

This is a quality place to make dome turns and worthy of making the commitment!

Robbie, You are so funny. I can't believe you are saying stuff like 'I remember when I was your age'to the young 'uns.
Did you call your Mom on Mother's Day, young man? Or where you just out bombing hills?
BTW, moved back to the flatlands of VAB :) Ate Sh*** on a wee hill on the kid's Sector 9 48'' longboard last week, and have removed all the skin from my left knee. Loose trucks and speed wobble are deadly :) You would have peed yourself laughing if you'd seen it.
Am getting married next month. To a nice young Army officer, this time. Wish me luck.
As Always, I wish YOU luck in everything, my friend.
Skate Fast. Have Fun.

snow more
On 5/12/2008 daturd wrote in from United States  (71.208.nnn.nnn)

I was hoping the snow would have melted but the sun needed the entire day to melt the course. Nobody would know that unless they showed up. I never called the event or wanted to because the weather was beautiful and we had 3 shuttle vehicles to hit other hills. Thank you to Brent who drove his Airport shuttle van up from Aspen. I also had two 2008 Volvo's a wagon and suv, power everything and full leather that could shuttle up the Pass at 100 mph. I did what I could to make sure we would be able to skate on a perfect day in the mountains. Some of you certainly have excuses but not one person told me they had to hang out with mom. This date was picked in January and was the weekend after Ditch Slap to get riders who might be in the area. I'm goin skating today and tomorrow, and the day after that. If you wanna sk8 gimme a call otherwise have fun typing about how much you like to sk8. Don't forget to include how fast you are or how cool your board is, really like reading about your drop thru top mount dilema's, or whose griptape is faster. Why didn't more Colorado skaters go to Ditch Slap? I remember when I was your age we use to travel around the World to go race a hill...haha haha. How many Colorado longboarders does it take to put on an event? none, there to busy coming up with a screen name.

Brent gimme a buzz when you come thru, and I'm glad we got a couple turns in.

I'm on my way to Estes today maybe Lookout Mt. first, see you at the top. thundercat420

Saturday Race?
On 5/9/2008 robmc3 wrote in from United States  (168.103.nnn.nnn)

If your asking about Saturday I am too. JP, when and where? If you want people to show that info is helpful, maybe put it on the flyer?
From JP..."Saturday, early!! like riders meeting @ 8:30 am @ dubes' house and then we'll drive out to the hill. It's near Rist, but no where near as scary. I hear it's supposed to snow sat. afternoon, that along with the traffic factor is the reason for holding the race early. with man vs. man heats, I figure 7-8 runs will have everyone race all the way thru. The road is fast, but pretty easy (barley one turn that you have to grab rail for). It's more of a drafting battle thru dropping sweepers. Hopefully the weather will hold, if not I'll be up @ 6 am tomorrow to call it. If it goes off it'll be fun 4sure. Are you crashing @ calahans tonite? If not you can crash here or @ josh's place. let me know"

I will try to get up there today and sweep and tune things up. I have floor space and a roof for all ya'll, just gimme some heads up.
This morning @ 7am 25F no wind some clouds. High today 70F Isolated Tstorms
Sunday looks good but lil cold for camping
