DT- Jay is OK, just incarcerated for some reason that I really don't know all the details.
He may be looking at some serious time in Prison due to the 3 strikes law...
Either way, he has a beautiful and loving wife named Alisha, who is pregnant with Jay's 2nd child and is in need of some financial assistance and love and support of their friends and the skate community.
Come out and support Jay and Alisha; below are the details of the race we are throwing in Jays Honor:

i tend to joke around a lot on these pages, but this question is SERIOUS. why are they holding a benifit? did he pass or get badly injured?
i plan to attend and hopefully race depending on my cash flow.
a few years ago, i went home to O'ahu to visit family and friends, while i was there i pulled the time together to visit him at the black flys in town. Jay had just been out for a short time and was a very humble man. we talked story for hours. mostly about surfing and cruising; also downhill skating, specifically speedboarding and the advances that had developed in the recent years. he tripped on my board (it was the first time he had seen Randal Comp 2s w/ the bearings in the hanger/floating axel) and backwards compared to most trucks. he was into charging some local hills with me as long as there wasn't any waves. Fortunatly there was choke waves!
even though we didn't get to ride, i came away with respect for him, full on! not because of his riding (which goes without saying) but because of his attitude! much aloha!
even though i'm a yout(born in 79'), i've been around the block when it comes to overinflated egos... ...i have many friends that are pro surfers, bodyboarders, skaters, race car drivers, musicians, doctors, mercs, lawyers, d.a.,actors, law enforcement... etc, etc i've worked on Ferrari and Lambos the past few years and have seen alot more than i care for, but i have determined this:
One's talent and one's character are two separate things.
Some pros are solid, others will rob you blind for a hit, some give the shirts off their backs, others only revolve around themselves, some are lucky, some are in the wrong place at the wrong time.
anyway my brain is fading, i've been blitzed all night and need to flop. i mean rack out. i hope you guys can answer my question.
also if you havent heard or been invited, there is a downhill race at Bonelli park in San Dimas this Sat. morn/noon. it would be rad to ride with some oldschool rippas. and blr doesnt wear leather for nothing right??? there will be a lot of groms making their debuts mixed with some golden oldies and a few kooks like me. the hill isn't much faster than the pump station and not very technical, but she-go. hope to see da kine BLR in action.
SHOOTS!!!!!!!!!!!

how about those sportbike leathers? are those usable for DH? Never worn a pair, they look cool as sh!t with those composite built in knee pads, they're off center for crashing while cornering a bike, and they're short ,to be worn with boots. Lots of cash though.

I'd betcha $100 right now that it's from the old Nash 15 toes deck. It was a steel-wheeled, mass-manufactured toy skateboard, circa the mid-'60's or so, and had three green feet connected with dotted lines on it- like, a dance diagram of how to walk to the nose.
I know, 'cuz I've got one!

Steve,
I just bought one of your Black Label "Sixteen Toes" decks. Curious where the deck theme came from!
We met at La Costa Black Hill slalom contest in 2004.

Hey Dave/Steve and anyone interested, I figured you might like looking at the photos/story I posted from the old SKATEBOARDER magazines. Check the "Winchester Shoot-out" Photo of Winchester's Pool...I miss that pool!
go here:
http://homepage.mac.com/garyholl/PhotoAlbum102.html
and click on a photo to start the "slide show: which will enable you to see the photos and read the story. Sorry I don't have a scanner so parts of the stories overlap from photo to photo.
Have a great 2006!

It's both a sport and a pasttime. Neither way of doing it is better or worse than the other. It's a personal choice.
Since when has toe-flipping a board around become a tradition? Is that it? Is that all there is? Flip, slide the rail, land? I got it the first billion times that I saw it, do we really need page after page after page after page of the same damn thing?
Expose people to all facets of skateboarding. If you don't like what you are seeing, change the channel...
This is why oLsOn and I invented the most original (and Stylish) skateboard move ever..."THE MATADOR"
