I know peralta wrote the movie. it still sucked. i find it hard to believe that the movie came out the way he (peralta) had intended it to be. the movie was just way to cheesey & corny. IF the movie came out the way he intended, I guess he used a quite a bit of "dramatic license" so it would appeal to the midwest masses. but hey, if you liked it, thats all that matters. I liked the documentaries he's done a thousand times better.

My wife treated me to dinner and to see LODT in Ft Lauderdale on opening night. Yep, I wore my Z Flex shirt too! Lots of people at the theatre, most were much younger than me. I was a Midwest wannabe back in 1977. I grew up in a hillbilly town, where all we had were hills. Nobody was rich enough to have their own pool for several towns over.
I am now 43, ride with my daughters and still roll down hills, though there aren't many where I live. I've changed over the years, but still love the free feeling of riding down a hill. I ride Bulldog boards and Trackers because I think they're cool. Several months ago some kids saw me slaloming between Pepsi cans and called me a poser. I gave 'em the finger!
I saw LODT, and thought it was a good movie. You can drive yourself nuts over missed details, left out people, etc. but the movie was entertaining and certainly conveyed the spirit of those skaters who did things their own way. No one who's seen it can deny that. And that I think was the purpose of the movie.
I recently bought an Alva reissue deck, filled and drilled the holes and put reissue (old school)Trackers, a Power Pivot and Manx wheels with Biltins on it; what a bitchin' board!
To the earlier poster who didn't get a reply, please crawl back under your bridge, Mr. Troll.
Regards,
Bill in FL

Certainly did Glenn. Feel like Rain Man answering something that only ever existed in memory. Still, in that time I learned all about global gambling thanks to Tim's fabulous ether links.
Nice PhatBoi by the way.

The "midwest wannabe" that wrote it was Stacy Peralta...

Eminently helpful in shedding further insight into the Dogtown phenomenon. Thank you Tim.
Although we've gone our seperate ways in very singular searches towards financial security, I'm almost certain that fate will twist so that we again unite by some terminal kid's pool.

well, the movie sucked. unfortunately, the movie is a weak parody of the dogtown scene and the dogtown boys. it seemed to be written and directed by some midwest wannabe. i doubt any if the "dogtown" people are proud of the way that movie turned out.

i dont actualy know what this thing is , but it has a messaging spot and thers alot to do with the zephyr team and the movie , so im just gonna go with it kay so the movie had a ttolay hot actor playing stacey , but the movie , it sucked, i watched dog town and z-boys waaaaay before any of these punk asses talking about how they watch the movie everyday , you guys suck , shut up lol but ya the movie didnt really inncorprate everything in there and left just alot of cool thinmgs out , the documentary was waay better then the movie , so when i heard about a movie about the zephyr team i was syched and then it came out and everyone knew about them but not the actual them , i meen i dont either, but i know more then the kids that just saw the movie and havent even heard of the documentary , i saw the domcumentary when it like just came out , and i started downloading pictures off google and and printing them and making my self posters, and wheh i asked people if they knew who zephyr was , or dog town or w.e no body did , and then the movie came out and everyone knows , and feel like just another one of the fans that is writing in this thing, it sucks lol and ya , my point was the movie sucked , pretty much i meen , ya ya dig

Hey, the DVD is still just hitting shelves in a lot of places. Based on how the movie did, I have to expect that DVD sales will surpass it. The two-pack with Z-Boys is pretty cool, and a good buy, so that should do well.

On the tip of a bargain shopper I know, I went to Walmart and found the new LODT DVD in a 2-pack with the "deluxe" edition of Dogtown & Z-Boys. I think it was $20 or $21.
There's quite a bit of extra viewing in the LODT "extras".

Z-Flex?

Being a geek about the authenticity of props in any period movie, I wonder: Why no mention of Z-Flex in the movie? Seems like an odd omission to me, Z-Flex being what Zephyr became, and having the Jay Adams Model. I searched this forum for this topic, and no one's brought it up.
I'd certainly think the current holders of the trademark would welcome the publicity (eBay sellers certainly have, whether they're selling Zephyrs or Grentecs). Or is it bad blood between the current Z-Flex co. and the filmmakers and friends? Whatzit?
