This place is pretty cool. I ordered a set of Seismic 157's from these guys a few days ago. They said they did'nt have any in stock (some kind of mix up with UPS and a whole order was lost or something) So Jeff @ Bozi, gave me several options. He had a slightly used set he would sell me at an extremely reduced cost, or some other options that were even sweeter. I probably should'nt say what they were because others might expect to get the same kind of service and I can't imagine anyone staying in buisness and doing this on a regular basis, so I won't say. Anyhow....one of there options was even to recommend going to Solidskate or Longskate! Which I thought was pretty big of them. So, I have'nt recieved the stuff yet and can't say what it's like but so far they've really been great.

Modern is indeed a great shop. I believe they cary Flexdex as weel as a pretty complete line of longboards. I think they have two locations in the Metro-Daytwah area, as wll as a pretty decent park. On Wednesday nights (from 9-midnight) the park is only open to skaters over the age of 19, called "fossil night". I agree with Tom, They do have some sweet little Bettys that work there. -SPoKe -O.G. This is by far the best skate shop in the metro-detroit area. it carries all kinds of bearings and bushings. it carries harbinger pads, sector 9 stuff, mainly boards, and best of all gravity boards. this place really rocks, and it is in a good local. not to mention its competitive pricing and hot chicks that work there. i recommend a visit for any one who lives in the metro-detroit area. thanks

I just ordered some of my favorite wrist guards, ProDesigned, I know I can order direct but the communication between the manufacturerr and the buyer (me) isn't that strong. So I ordered them from poolskater.com. I've ordered before from poolskater.com and I'll order again because Mark tells me when my check arrives and when it shipped. Thanks for the OUTSTANDING service.

I take back everything i said that wasnt GREAT about these guys. Darren called me and appologized for the packaging mess and explained how some things had happened that shouldnt have. he even said he'll replace the deck i got (the one with the nicks and dings) with a new one and let me keep the one i have...unbelievable! He's taking care of some stuff with the length of shipping which he agrees was an "unacceptable amount of time". He even called fedex to find out what their problem was. I feel bad I had a poor experience with them in the first place but Darren has completely fixed any issue i had. These guys are real gentlemen and certainly deserve every penny they make! bravo.

If your in the Detroit area stop into The Windsurf Company. Over the last couple of years they are strarting to see that the appeal for longboarding is real. They carry the obvious Sector9 completes but also Fiberflex. They seem to stock Indy 215s and regularly carry 65-76mm wheels. If youre new to the sport or live in the area stop in and tell them the Ghetto Glders sent ya. -SPoKe -OG Ghetto Glider

I ordered my landyachtz chief from them about two weeks ago and got it today. I was hoping it would be here sooner because I have read that they are very speedy, but i suppose with all the crap going on in the states everything gets a bit slowed down. no big deal. What WAS a big deal however was the packaging! The two trucks all wrapped in packing tape and with nothing between them and the deck. so now i have a couple of ugly little scratches and nicks on an otherwise beautiful board. i now looks shouldnt matter too much but i like pretty things. This mess was wrapped in a sheet of cardboard and taped up like a mofo. TWO AXLES WERE PIERCED THROUGH THE CARDBOARD WHEN I GOT IT! boooo to that. I was pretty worried that the threads would be messed up or an axle would be bent a bit. no problems though, thank god. I was also a bit dissapointed that the chief i got (the plain one, not the one with the indian art on it) wasnt the deep dark wood color that i see on the websites, it is maple colored. that isnt their fault though. Everything turned out ok in the end (except the annoying scratches and nicks). I wouldnt advise anyone to not buy from them, in fact I probably would if i couldnt get it at solidskate or longskate for the same price. Just dont set your expectations too high. they are ok but not A+ quality.
ps. awesome board!

I ordered some RII trucks from these guys and they came the next day - they e-mailed me the shipping info and everthing, and the price was decent. I think they have a pretty good operation over there, good customer service and all.

150 E. 2nd St 212 677 6220 Small, friendly joint stocking skateboard gear only. Lit dimly, almost by candlelight. SMA longboards, Alva (long & short & 80's style pigs), Dogtown, Gullwing, 5 boro, Zoo york, Wounded Knee. Mostly new school wheel & truck selection but they always offer to order anything skate related. Their prices are the lowest I've seen in a shop in NYC on wheels & trucks.

We have the BEST prices on the SHOCKER TRUCKS which are blowing people away: longboard, standard and *slalom* sizes. We also offer a custom mod we put together with the people from Track Life (the company that manufactures the Shocker Trucks).
www.LatterDaySkates.com
Also, we are the ONLY place in the world you can get the Z-Roller longboard trucks with the precision-alloy axles that are a "true" 8mm. Don't bother looking at the "other" online stores, or at any skateshop. Z-Prod makes these puppies just for us.

Hey Marc,
Like I said before, I'm not trashing the shop or the dudes themselves, (I don't live in Alberta)--all I'm talking about is just my one individual's experience with the way they come off here and on their site. And your ISP shows you're a real fan and not just more bogus chump-style action like their last couple of "reviews" (Billy/ Chet/Ryan), so I respect that. Maybe they're genius, but at least the Gravity Sports guy has the taste not to generate more bad press for himself.
Again, I'm really just curious, where and how often must one go surfing to qualify as an avid surfer in Calgary? I know this is a bit off-topic, so delete this is if you want to, Webmaster A. Long live Sportmart.
yours truly, Lighten up Honey
