Hey all, I just scored a grip of old school santa cruz decks and I am looking to get them grip taped(lots easier than doing it myself)and buy some tracker 6tracks.My problem is that they just closed go skate san jo and the shops i can find around here just have tape for 7-8inch pinners and no tracker trucks. The purple skunk up in the city looks like they can do everything for me, just a bit of a drive.Any good shops around san jose/santa clara/sunnyvale?

Hey guys . . . and ladies. I haven't posted in here in probably excess of three years, but still stop by occasionally. I just had to give a big fat thumbs up to Purple Skunk. I always heard about P.S. in S.F. back in 99 and 2000 when I was here, but being in San Diego, I wasn't able to ever get to it. Well, now I'm living in the area, and was up on Treasure Island this weekend, so I figured I'd make the trip over.
I called several times through the drive there because Patty gave me bad directions :), but finally I had everything squared away. Due to traffic, I was cutting it really close, but with five minutes before closing, I rolled by, and saw Eli closing up shop, locking the bars. I couldn't find a damn parking spot for another ten or fifteen minutes. I finally did, and rolled up to the dark store, and peeked inside. Nobody that I saw, but a light was on.
I called one more time, and luckily Eli picked up the phone, even though neither Patty nor Eli probably wanted to because they knew it was gonna be me. But I told Eli that I knew what I wanted to look at, so he went ahead and let me in the store, not knowing that I was looking to buy at all. I came in there, looked around a bit, and told him I was looking to replace my old Landyachtz RIII proto that was stolen several months before. We three had a great conversation, and they both stayed MUCH later than closing time (approx. 45 minutes that I was there), set my board up, and got me on my way.
That experience literally made my weekend. I was so pissed that I missed the hours, and to have them hook me up like that was above and beyond. Awesome service, great people, and happy customers make a great experience all around. Thank you Purple Skunk. Had my first good session with the new baby today, and she's wonderful. I'm sorry this is so long, but I'm still just so amped by the whole time, and have to share. :)

Great place! This shop has been in the same location since 1976. They carry an impressive selection of old school and new school skate stuff, along with surfboards, skimboards, snowboardin' stuff and inline skates.
This is the only place I have seen No Skoolz, Bulldog, Alva, Z Flex, and other old school style equipment under one roof. Mike, who works there, is terrific and is clearly about the soul of skating.
This shop is the real deal. Give 'em a jingle at 425-255-1874.

I visted a cool surf/long skate shop in Calgary, Canada called Red Nik Surf Co. The staff was amazingly knowledgable and consisted of three cool girls and one old dude who really knew their 'boards'. I would recommend if anyone is every in Western Canada, check out this funky little boutique Surf Shop. Thanks, Kyla, Tab and Amanda, I am really enjoying my Tahoe 52.

Bozi Boards shop review...

I'm not a shop owner but just wanted to let everyone know that Jeff at Bozi boards is a cool guy and will go out of his way to hook you up. The first reason I ordererd from him is because he is only a state away. The hurricane hit his shop and he had no power for a while but that didn't stop him from getting the product to me for an upcoming session that PA Dan and I are planning for Sunday/Monday. Order from Jeff Bozi at Boziboards.com and he'll treat you as a customer should be. Eric

If you really want the lowdown on some skateboard shops in the LA/Santa Monica area, check out The Board Gallery on Abbot Kinney in Venice and Rip City in Santa Monica. Both shops are the real deal in old school.

Just received my Bahne Blackhill complete from Daddies. It got to Ohio in two days! Great phone support. They really love and know slalom. If you're starting out in slalom (or re-starting like me), the Bahne complete is a sweet deal. I weigh 145lb, and I think the 6-ply would be better. The 7-ply (which is what I got) is probably better for people over 155lb. Give them a shot, I was very happy with everything.

Once again, I'd like to mention my very generous racing sponsor, Bill Ackerman of Bill's Wheels in Santa Cruz.
Bill has been into skateboarding since the 60's and the shop is currently enjoying it's 26th year in business!
Bill regulary supports several riders with contest entries - supports local and regional events - and carries a full range of great vert, pool, street and longboarding decks, completes, accessories, clothes, packs, shoes etc. If you're ever in Santa Cruz don't hesitate to stop by and say hi!

Melanie and Dan came through quick as a flash when I wanted some new Seismic metal trucks. Sent them an email on Monday and the trucks were hand-delivered to our Thursday night practice session.
I don't know if this is a regular service they offer, or something special because I'm such a nice guy ....?
Daddies is the best!
